Eliseo le había dicho a la mujer a cuyo hijo él había resucitado: “Prepárate y vete con tu familia a vivir donde puedas, porque Yahvé ha anunciado un hambre que durará siete años en todo el país”.

Y HABLÓ Eliseo á aquella mujer á cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, diciendo: Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa á vivir donde pudieres; porque Jehová ha llamado el hambre, la cual vendrá también sobre la tierra siete años.

Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

Now Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, “Arise, and go, you and your household, and stay for a while wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine. It will also come on the land for seven years.”

La mujer siguió las instrucciones del hombre de Dios, se fue con su familia y vivió en la tierra de los filisteos durante siete años.

Entonces la mujer se levantó, é hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo: y partióse ella con su familia, y vivió en tierra de los Filisteos siete años.

And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

Cuando pasaron los siete años, la mujer regresó de la tierra de los filisteos y fue a ver al rey para pedirle que le devolviera su casa y sus tierras.

Y como fueron pasados los siete años, la mujer volvió de la tierra de los Filisteos: después salió para clamar al rey por su casa, y por sus tierras.

And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

At the end of seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines. Then she went out to beg the king for her house and for her land.

En ese momento el rey estaba hablando con Giezi, el sirviente del hombre de Dios, y le decía: “Por favor, cuéntame todas las cosas asombrosas que ha hecho Eliseo”.

Y había el rey hablado con Giezi, criado del varón de Dios, diciéndole: Ruégote que me cuentes todas las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo.

And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

Now the king was talking with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, “Please tell me all the great things that Elisha has done.”

Mientras Giezi le contaba al rey cómo Eliseo había resucitado al niño, la mujer se presentó ante el rey para reclamar su casa y sus tierras. Giezi exclamó: “¡Majestad, esta es la mujer! ¡Y este es su hijo, el que Eliseo resucitó!”

Y contando él al rey cómo había hecho vivir á un muerto, he aquí la mujer, á cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, que clamaba al rey por su casa y por sus tierras. Entonces dijo Giezi: Rey señor mío, esta es la mujer, y este es su hijo, al cual Eliseo hizo vivir.

And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

As he was telling the king how he had restored to life him who was dead, behold, the woman whose son he had restored to life begged the king for her house and for her land. Gehazi said, “My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.”

El rey le hizo preguntas a la mujer, y ella le contó todo. Entonces el rey ordenó a un oficial: “Devuélvele todo lo que era suyo, junto con todas las cosechas que se hayan producido desde el día en que ella se fue hasta hoy”.

Y preguntando el rey á la mujer, ella se lo contó. Entonces el rey le dió un eunuco, diciéndole: Hazle volver todas las cosas que eran suyas, y todos los frutos de las tierras desde el día que dejó el país hasta ahora.

And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

Eliseo se fue a Damasco. Por entonces Ben-hadad, rey de Siria, estaba enfermo. Cuando le avisaron que el hombre de Dios andaba por allá,

Eliseo se fué luego á Damasco, y Ben-adad rey de Siria estaba enfermo, al cual dieron aviso, diciendo: El varón de Dios ha venido aquí.

And Elisha came to Damascus; and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick. He was told, “The man of God has come here.”

el rey le dijo a Hazael: “Lleva un regalo y ve a recibir al hombre de Dios. Pídele que consulte a Yahvé para saber si voy a sanar de esta enfermedad”.

Y el rey dijo á Hazael: Toma en tu mano un presente, y ve á recibir al varón de Dios, y consulta por él á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?

And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

The king said to Hazael, “Take a present in your hand, and go meet the man of God, and inquire of the LORD by him, saying, ‘Will I recover from this sickness?’”

Hazael fue a recibir a Eliseo, llevando consigo lo mejor de Damasco; necesitó cuarenta camellos para cargar todos los regalos. Cuando llegó ante él, le dijo: “Su hijo Ben-hadad, rey de Siria, me envía a preguntarle: ‘¿Voy a sanar de esta enfermedad?’”

Tomó pues Hazael en su mano un presente de todos los bienes de Damasco, cuarenta camellos cargados, y saliólo á recibir: y llegó, y púsose delante de él, y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado á ti, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?

So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

Eliseo le respondió: “Ve y dile que ciertamente sanará, aunque Yahvé me ha revelado que en realidad va a morir”.

Y Eliseo le dijo: Ve, dile: Seguramente vivirás. Empero Jehová me ha mostrado que él ha de morir ciertamente.

And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

Elisha said to him, “Go, tell him, ‘You will surely recover;’ however the LORD has shown me that he will surely die.”

Luego Eliseo se le quedó mirando fijamente hasta que Hazael se sintió muy incómodo. De pronto, el hombre de Dios se echó a llorar.

Y el varón de Dios le volvió el rostro afirmadamente, y estúvose así una gran pieza; y lloró el varón de Dios.

And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

Hazael le preguntó: “¿Por qué llora mi señor?” Él respondió: “Porque sé el daño que vas a hacerle a los israelitas. Vas a incendiar sus ciudades fortificadas, matarás a sus jóvenes a espada, estrellarás contra el suelo a sus niños y les abrirás el vientre a las mujeres embarazadas”.

Entonces díjole Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Y él respondió: Porque sé el mal que has de hacer á los hijos de Israel: á sus fortalezas pegarás fuego, y á sus mancebos matarás á cuchillo, y estrellarás á sus niños, y abrirás á sus preñadas.

And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”

Hazael exclamó: “¿Quién es este servidor suyo, que no es más que un perro, para hacer algo tan terrible?” Eliseo contestó: “Yahvé me ha mostrado que tú serás el rey de Siria”.

Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué? ¿es tu siervo perro, que hará esta gran cosa? Y respondió Eliseo: Jehová me ha mostrado que tú has de ser rey de Siria.

And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”

Hazael se despidió de Eliseo y regresó a donde estaba su rey, quien le preguntó: “¿Qué te dijo Eliseo?” Él respondió: “Me dijo que usted ciertamente sanará”.

Y él se partió de Eliseo, y vino á su señor, el cual le dijo: ¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Y él respondió: Díjome que seguramente vivirás.

So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”

Pero al día siguiente, Hazael tomó una manta, la empapó en agua y se la puso al rey en la cara hasta que lo asfixió. Así murió el rey, y Hazael reinó en su lugar.

El día siguiente tomó un paño basto, y metiólo en agua, y tendiólo sobre el rostro de Ben-adad, y murió: y reinó Hazael en su lugar.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

On the next day, he took a thick cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it on the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael reigned in his place.

Joram hijo de Josafat comenzó a reinar en Judá durante el quinto año del reinado de Joram hijo de Acab en Israel, mientras Josafat todavía era rey de Judá.

And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

Tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y gobernó en Jerusalén ocho años.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

Pero siguió el mal ejemplo de los reyes de Israel y de la familia de Acab, pues se casó con una hija de Acab. Hizo lo que ofende a Yahvé.

Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Achâb, porque una hija de Achâb fué su mujer; é hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did Ahab’s house, for he married Ahab’s daughter. He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight.

Sin embargo, Yahvé no quiso destruir a Judá por amor a su siervo David, pues le había prometido que su descendencia siempre brillaría como una lámpara ante él.

Con todo eso, Jehová no quiso cortar á Judá, por amor de David su siervo, como le había prometido darle lámpara de sus hijos perpetuamente.

Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

However, the LORD would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.

Durante el reinado de Joram, los de Edom se rebelaron contra Judá y nombraron su propio rey.

En su tiempo se rebeló Edom de debajo de la mano de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.

Por eso Joram fue con todos sus carros de guerra a Zair. Los edomitas rodearon a Joram y a sus capitanes, pero él atacó de noche y logró abrirse paso, aunque sus soldados huyeron a sus casas.

Joram por tanto pasó á Seir, y todos sus carros con él: y levantándose de noche hirió á los Idumeos, los cuales le habían cercado, y á los capitanes de los carros: y el pueblo huyó á sus estancias.

So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

De ese modo Edom se independizó de Judá hasta el día de hoy. En ese mismo tiempo también se rebeló la ciudad de Libna.

Cuando Joram murió, fue sepultado con sus antepasados en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Ocozías reinó en su lugar.

Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y gobernó en Jerusalén un año. Su madre era Atalía, nieta de Omrí, rey de Israel.

De veintidós años era Ochôzías cuando comenzó á reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalem. El nombre de su madre fué Athalía hija de Omri rey de Israel.

Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

Ocozías también siguió el mal ejemplo de la familia de Acab e hizo lo que ofende a Yahvé, pues estaba emparentado con ellos.

Ocozías se alió con Joram hijo de Acab para pelear contra Hazael, rey de Siria, en Ramot de Galaad. Allí los sirios hirieron a Joram,

Y fué á la guerra con Joram hijo de Achâb á Ramoth de Galaad, contra Hazael rey de Siria; y los Siros hirieron á Joram.

And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramoth-gilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
