Habló Eliseo a la mujer sunamita, cuyo hijo había resucitado, y le dijo: Márchate con tu familia, y vete fuera de tu país a habitar donde te parezca mejor; porque Dios ha llamado el hambre, y ella se apoderará de la tierra de Israel por siete años.
Y HABLÓ Eliseo á aquella mujer á cuyo hijo había hecho vivir, diciendo: Levántate, vete tú y toda tu casa á vivir donde pudieres; porque Jehová ha llamado el hambre, la cual vendrá también sobre la tierra siete años.
Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

Hizo, pues, la mujer lo que le dijo el varón de Dios, y salió con su familia fuera de su país, y permaneció largo tiempo en tierra de filisteos.
Entonces la mujer se levantó, é hizo como el varón de Dios le dijo: y partióse ella con su familia, y vivió en tierra de los Filisteos siete años.

And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

Y preguntó el rey a la mujer, la cual se lo contó. Inmediatamente el rey envió con ella un eunuco o ministro, a quien dijo: Haz que se le restituya todo lo que le pertenece, y todos los réditos de sus heredades, desde el día que salió de su tierra hasta el presente.

Y dijo el rey a Hazael: Toma contigo unos regalos, y sal a encontrar al varón de Dios, y consulta por su medio al Señor, preguntando: ¿Si podré escapar de esta mi enfermedad?
Y el rey dijo á Hazael: Toma en tu mano un presente, y ve á recibir al varón de Dios, y consulta por él á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?

Fue, pues, Hazael a encontrarlo, llevando consigo presentes de todas las cosas más preciosas de Damasco en cuarenta camellos cargados, y al llegar a su presencia, dijo: Tu hijo Benadad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado a ti para saber si podrá él sanar de su enfermedad.
Tomó pues Hazael en su mano un presente de todos los bienes de Damasco, cuarenta camellos cargados, y saliólo á recibir: y llegó, y púsose delante de él, y dijo: Tu hijo Ben-adad, rey de Siria, me ha enviado á ti, diciendo: ¿Tengo de sanar de esta enfermedad?

Le respondió Eliseo: Ve, y dile: Tu enfermedad no es mortal. Pero el Señor me ha hecho conocer que él ha de morir sin remedio.

Y estuvo el varón de Dios un rato parado con él, y se conturbó hasta demudar el semblante, y echó a llorar.

Le dijo entonces Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Porque sé, respondió, los males que has de hacer a los hijos de Israel. Tú entregarás a las llamas sus ciudades fuertes, y pasarás a cuchillo sus jóvenes, y estrellarás contra el suelo sus niños, y abrirás el vientre a las mujeres preñadas.
Entonces díjole Hazael: ¿Por qué llora mi señor? Y él respondió: Porque sé el mal que has de hacer á los hijos de Israel: á sus fortalezas pegarás fuego, y á sus mancebos matarás á cuchillo, y estrellarás á sus niños, y abrirás á sus preñadas.
And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.
Hazael said, “Why do you weep, my lord?” He answered, “Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set their strongholds on fire, and you will kill their young men with the sword, and will dash their little ones in pieces, and rip up their pregnant women.”
Replicó Hazael: Pues, ¿soy yo, siervo tuyo, otra cosa más que un perro muerto, para que pueda ejecutar cosas tan grandes y terribles? A lo que respondió Eliseo: El Señor me ha manifestado que tú serás rey de Siria.
Y Hazael dijo: ¿Por qué? ¿es tu siervo perro, que hará esta gran cosa? Y respondió Eliseo: Jehová me ha mostrado que tú has de ser rey de Siria.
And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.
Hazael said, “But what is your servant, who is but a dog, that he could do this great thing?” Elisha answered, “The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Syria.”
Habiéndose separado Hazael de Eliseo, volvió a su amo, el cual le preguntó: ¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Respondió él: Me dijo que recobrarías la salud.
Y él se partió de Eliseo, y vino á su señor, el cual le dijo: ¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo? Y él respondió: Díjome que seguramente vivirás.
So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.
Then he departed from Elisha, and came to his master, who said to him, “What did Elisha say to you?” He answered, “He told me that you would surely recover.”
Llegado el día siguiente tomó Hazael un paño acolchado, lo empapó en agua, y lo extendió sobre el rostro del rey, el cual murió; y reinó Hazael en su lugar.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.
