Simon Pierre, serviteur et apôtre de Jésus-Christ, à ceux qui avec nous ont reçu le précieux don de la foi dans la justice de notre Dieu et du Sauveur Jésus-Christ :

SIMÓN Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, á los que habéis alcanzado fe igualmente preciosa con nosotros en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo:

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

que la grâce et la paix croissent en vous de plus en plus par la connaissance de Dieu et de Jésus-Christ Notre-Seigneur !

Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada en el conocimiento de Dios, y de nuestro Señor Jesús.

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,

Puisque sa divine puissance nous a accordé tous les dons qui regardent la vie et la piété, en nous faisant connaître celui qui nous a appelés par sa propre gloire et par sa vertu,

Como todas las cosas que pertenecen á la vida y á la piedad nos sean dadas de su divina potencia, por el conocimiento de aquel que nos ha llamado por su gloria y virtud:

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue,

et qui par elles nous a mis en possession de si grandes et si précieuses promesses, afin de vous rendre ainsi participants de la nature divine, en vous soustrayant à la corruption de la convoitise qui règne dans le monde.

Por las cuales nos son dadas preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas fueseis hechos participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huído de la corrupción que está en el mundo por concupiscencia.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

A cause de cela même, apportez de votre côté tous vos soins pour unir à votre foi la vertu, à la vertu le discernement,

Vosotros también, poniendo toda diligencia por esto mismo, mostrad en vuestra fe virtud, y en la virtud ciencia;

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;

au discernement la tempérance, à la tempérance la patience, à la patience la piété,

Y en la ciencia templanza, y en la templanza paciencia, y en la paciencia temor de Dios;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness;

à la piété l'amour fraternel, à l'amour fraternel la charité.

Y en el temor de Dios, amor fraternal, y en el amor fraternal caridad.

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.

Si ces vertus sont en vous et y abondent, elles ne vous laisseront ni oisifs ni stériles pour la connaissance de Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ.

Porque si en vosotros hay estas cosas, y abundan, no os dejarán estar ociosos, ni estériles en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Car celui à qui elles font défaut est un homme qui a la vue courte, un aveugle ; il a oublié la façon dont il a été purifié de ses anciens péchés.

Mas el que no tiene estas cosas, es ciego, y tiene la vista muy corta, habiendo olvidado la purificación de sus antiguos pecados.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

C'est pourquoi, mes frères, appliquez-vous d'autant plus à assurer par vos bonnes œuvres votre vocation et votre élection ; car, en agissant ainsi, vous ne ferez jamais de faux pas.

Por lo cual, hermanos, procurad tanto más de hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo estas cosas, no caeréis jamás.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

Et ainsi vous sera largement donnée l'entrée dans le royaume de notre Seigneur et Sauveur Jésus-Christ.

Porque de esta manera os será abundantemente administrada la entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Voilà pourquoi j'aurai à cœur de vous rappeler constamment ces choses, bien que vous les connaissiez et que vous soyez affermis dans la vérité présente.

Por esto, yo no dejaré de amonestaros siempre de estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis, y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente.

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.

Je crois de mon devoir, aussi longtemps que je suis dans cette tente, de vous tenir en éveil par mes avertissements ;

Porque tengo por justo, en tanto que estoy en este tabernáculo, de incitaros con amonestación:

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,

car je sais que je la quitterai bientôt, ainsi que Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ me l'a fait connaître.

Sabiendo que brevemente tengo de dejar mi tabernáculo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha declarado.

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

Je veux aussi faire en sorte que vous puissiez toujours, après mon départ, vous remettre ces choses en mémoire.

También yo procuraré con diligencia, que después de mi fallecimiento, vosotros podáis siempre tener memoria de estas cosas.

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.

Ce n'est pas, en effet, sur la foi de fables ingénieusement imaginées que nous vous avons fait connaître la puissance et l'avènement de Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ, mais en témoins oculaires de sa majesté.

Porque no os hemos dado á conocer la potencia y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, siguiendo fábulas por arte compuestas; sino como habiendo con nuestros propios ojos visto su majestad.

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

En effet, il reçut honneur et gloire de Dieu le Père, lorsque de la gloire magnifique une voix se fit entendre qui disait : " Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé en qui j'ai mis toutes mes complaisances. "

Porque él había recibido de Dios Padre honra y gloria, cuando una tal voz fué á él enviada de la magnífica gloria: Este es el amado Hijo mío, en el cual yo me he agradado.

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Et nous, nous entendîmes cette voix venue du ciel, lorsque nous étions avec lui sur la montagne sainte.

Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos juntamente con él en el monte santo.

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

Et ainsi a été confirmée pour nous l'Ecriture prophétique, à laquelle vous faites bien de prêter attention, comme à une lampe qui brille dans un lieu obscur, jusqu'à ce que le jour vienne à poindre et que l'étoile du matin se lève dans vos cœurs.

Tenemos también la palabra profética más permanente, á la cual hacéis bien de estar atentos como á una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro hasta que el día esclarezca, y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones:

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,

Mais sachez avant tout qu'aucune prophétie de l'Ecriture ne procède d'une interprétation propre,

Entendiendo primero esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de particular interpretación;

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

car ce n'est pas par une volonté d'homme qu'une prophétie a jamais été apportée, mais c'est poussés par l'Esprit-Saint que les saints hommes de Dieu ont parlé.

Porque la profecía no fué en los tiempos pasados traída por voluntad humana, sino los santos hombres de Dios hablaron siendo inspirados del Espíritu Santo.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
