Ich, Symeon Petrus, ein Knecht und Apostel Jesu Christi, sende meinen Gruß denen, welche mit uns den gleichwertigen Glauben durch die Gerechtigkeit unsers Gottes und (des) Erretters Jesus Christus erlangt haben.

SIMÓN Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, á los que habéis alcanzado fe igualmente preciosa con nosotros en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo:

Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Gnade und Friede möge euch in der Erkenntnis Gottes und unsers Herrn Jesus immer reichlicher zuteil werden!

Gracia y paz os sea multiplicada en el conocimiento de Dios, y de nuestro Señor Jesús.

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Seine göttliche Kraft hat uns ja doch alles, was zum Leben und zur Gottseligkeit erforderlich ist, durch die Erkenntnis dessen geschenkt, der uns durch die ihm eigene Herrlichkeit und Tugend berufen hat.

Como todas las cosas que pertenecen á la vida y á la piedad nos sean dadas de su divina potencia, por el conocimiento de aquel que nos ha llamado por su gloria y virtud:

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue,

Durch sie hat er uns die kostbaren und überaus wichtigen Verheißungen geschenkt, damit ihr durch diese dem in der Welt infolge der Sinnenlust herrschenden Verderben entrinnet und Anteil an der göttlichen Natur erhaltet.

Por las cuales nos son dadas preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas fueseis hechos participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huído de la corrupción que está en el mundo por concupiscencia.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Eben darum müßt ihr aber auch mit Aufbietung allen Eifers in eurem Glauben die Tugend darreichen, in der Tugend die Erkenntnis,

Vosotros también, poniendo toda diligencia por esto mismo, mostrad en vuestra fe virtud, y en la virtud ciencia;

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge;

in der Erkenntnis die Selbstbeherrschung, in der Selbstbeherrschung die Standhaftigkeit, in der Standhaftigkeit die Gottseligkeit,

Y en la ciencia templanza, y en la templanza paciencia, y en la paciencia temor de Dios;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control, perseverance; and in perseverance, godliness;

in der Gottseligkeit die Bruderliebe, in der Bruderliebe die allgemeine Liebe.

Y en el temor de Dios, amor fraternal, y en el amor fraternal caridad.

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

and in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.

Denn wenn diese (Eigenschaften) bei euch vorhanden sind und beständig zunehmen, so lassen sie euch hinsichtlich der Erkenntnis unsers Herrn Jesus Christus nicht untätig und ohne Frucht bleiben.

Porque si en vosotros hay estas cosas, y abundan, no os dejarán estar ociosos, ni estériles en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Wem dagegen diese (Eigenschaften) fehlen, der ist blind in Kurzsichtigkeit und hat die Reinigung von seinen früheren Sünden in Vergessenheit geraten lassen.

Mas el que no tiene estas cosas, es ciego, y tiene la vista muy corta, habiendo olvidado la purificación de sus antiguos pecados.

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.

Darum seid um so eifriger darauf bedacht, liebe Brüder, eure Berufung und Erwählung festzumachen; denn wenn ihr das tut, werdet ihr sicherlich niemals zu Fall kommen;

Por lo cual, hermanos, procurad tanto más de hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo estas cosas, no caeréis jamás.

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.

denn auf diese Weise wird euch der Eingang in das ewige Reich unsers Herrn und Retters Jesus Christus gewährt werden.

Porque de esta manera os será abundantemente administrada la entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo.

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Daher will ich auch darauf bedacht sein, euch immer wieder an diese Dinge zu erinnern, wenn sie euch auch schon bekannt sind und ihr in der Wahrheit, wie sie (bei euch) vorhanden ist, fest gegründet seid.

Por esto, yo no dejaré de amonestaros siempre de estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis, y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente.

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.

Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them and are established in the present truth.

Ich halte es aber für meine Pflicht, solange ich noch in dieser Leibeshütte wohne, euch durch solches Erinnern wachzuhalten,

Porque tengo por justo, en tanto que estoy en este tabernáculo, de incitaros con amonestación:

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you,

zumal da ich weiß, daß das Ablegen meiner Leibeshütte plötzlich erfolgen wird, wie es mir auch unser Herr Jesus Christus angekündigt hat.

Sabiendo que brevemente tengo de dejar mi tabernáculo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha declarado.

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

Ich will aber dafür Sorge tragen, daß ihr auch nach meinem Heimgang jederzeit in der Lage seid, euch diese Dinge ins Gedächtnis zu rufen.

También yo procuraré con diligencia, que después de mi fallecimiento, vosotros podáis siempre tener memoria de estas cosas.

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure.

Denn wir sind nicht klug ersonnenen Fabeln nachgegangen, als wir euch die Macht und Wiederkunft unsers Herrn Jesus Christus verkündigten, sondern wir sind Augenzeugen seiner wunderbaren Herrlichkeit gewesen.

Porque no os hemos dado á conocer la potencia y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, siguiendo fábulas por arte compuestas; sino como habiendo con nuestros propios ojos visto su majestad.

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

Denn von Gott dem Vater hat er (damals) Ehre und Verherrlichung empfangen, als von der hocherhabenen Herrlichkeit jener Zuruf an ihn erging: »Dieser ist mein geliebter Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen gefunden habe.«

Porque él había recibido de Dios Padre honra y gloria, cuando una tal voz fué á él enviada de la magnífica gloria: Este es el amado Hijo mío, en el cual yo me he agradado.

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Diesen Ruf haben wir ja vom Himmel her erschallen hören, als wir mit ihm auf dem heiligen Berge waren,

Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos juntamente con él en el monte santo.

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain.

und um so fester steht uns nun das prophetische Wort, das wir besitzen, und ihr tut wohl, auf dieses achtzugeben als auf ein Licht, das an einem dunklen Ort scheint, bis der volle Tag anbricht und der Morgenstern in euren Herzen aufgeht.

Tenemos también la palabra profética más permanente, á la cual hacéis bien de estar atentos como á una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro hasta que el día esclarezca, y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones:

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts,

Dabei müßt ihr euch vor allem darüber klar sein, daß keine Weissagung der Schrift eine eigenmächtige Deutung zuläßt;

Entendiendo primero esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de particular interpretación;

denn noch niemals ist eine Weissagung durch menschlichen Willen ergangen, sondern, vom heiligen Geist getrieben, haben Menschen von Gott aus geredet.

Porque la profecía no fué en los tiempos pasados traída por voluntad humana, sino los santos hombres de Dios hablaron siendo inspirados del Espíritu Santo.

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
