Y muchas gentes los seguirán en sus disoluciones; por cuya causa el camino de la verdad será infamado;
PERO hubo también falsos profetas en el pueblo, como habrá entre vosotros falsos doctores, que introducirán encubiertamente herejías de perdición, y negarán al Señor que los rescató, atrayendo sobre sí mismos perdición acelerada.
But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction.
y usando de palabras fingidas, harán tráfico de vosotros, por avaricia; mas el juicio que hace tiempo que los amenaza va viniendo a grandes pasos, y no está dormida la mano que debe perderlos.
Y muchos seguirán sus disoluciones, por los cuales el camino de la verdad será blasfemado;
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned.
Porque si Dios no perdonó a los ángeles delincuentes, sino que amarrados con cadenas infernales los precipitó al tenebroso abismo, en donde son atormentados y tenidos como en reserva hasta el día del juicio;
Y por avaricia harán mercadería de vosotros con palabras fingidas; sobre los cuales la condenación ya de largo tiempo no se tarda, y su perdición no se duerme.
And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber.
si tampoco perdonó al antiguo mundo, aunque preservó al predicador de la justicia divina, Noé , con siete personas, al anegar con el diluvio el mundo de los impíos;
Porque si Dios no perdonó á los ángeles que habían pecado, sino que habiéndolos despeñado en el infierno con cadenas de oscuridad, los entregó para ser reservados al juicio;
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
For if God didn’t spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and committed them to pits of darkness to be reserved for judgment;
si reduciendo a cenizas las ciudades de Sodoma y Gomorra, las condenó a desolamiento, poniéndolas para escarmiento de los que vivirán impíamente;
Y si no perdonó al mundo viejo, mas guardó á Noé, pregonero de justicia, con otras siete personas, trayendo el diluvio sobre el mundo de malvados;
And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
and didn’t spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly,
si libertó al justo Lot, a quien estos hombres abominables afligían y perseguían con su vida infame,
Y si condenó por destrucción las ciudades de Sodoma y de Gomorra, tornándolas en ceniza, y poniéndolas por ejemplo á los que habían de vivir sin temor y reverencia de Dios;
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live in an ungodly way,
pues conservaba puros sus ojos y oídos, morando entre gentes que cada día sin cesar atormentaban su alma pura con obras detestables,
Y libró al justo Lot, acosado por la nefanda conducta de los malvados;
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked
luego bien sabe el Señor librar de la tentación a los justos, reservando los malos para los tormentos en el día del juicio,
(Porque este justo, con ver y oir, morando entre ellos, afligía cada día su alma justa con los hechos de aquellos injustos;)
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
(for that righteous man dwelling among them was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds),
y sobre todo aquellos que para satisfacer sus impuros deseos siguen la concupiscencia de la carne, y desprecian las potestades; osados, pagados de sí mismos, que blasfemando no temen sembrar herejías,
Sabe el Señor librar de tentación á los píos, y reservar á los injustos para ser atormentados en el día del juicio;
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,
como quiera que los ángeles mismos con ser tanto mayores en fuerza y poder, no condenan con palabras de execración, ni maldición, a los de su especie;
Y principalmente á aquellos que, siguiendo la carne, andan en concupiscencia é inmundicia, y desprecian la potestad; atrevidos, contumaces, que no temen decir mal de las potestades superiores:
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
mas éstos otros, que, por el contrario, como brutos animales, nacidos para ser presa del hombre o para el lazo y la matanza, blasfeman de las cosas que ignoran, perecerán en los vergonzosos desórdenes en que están sumergidos,
Como quiera que los mismos ángeles, que son mayores en fuerza y en potencia, no pronuncian juicio de maldición contra ellas delante del Señor.
Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don’t bring a slanderous judgment against them before the Lord.
recibiendo la paga de su iniquidad, ya que ponen su felicidad en parar cada día entre placeres, siendo la misma mancha y suciedad, entregados a deleites, mostrando su disolución en los convites que celebran con vosotros,
Mas éstos, diciendo mal de las cosas que no entienden, como bestias brutas, que naturalmente son hechas para presa y destrucción, perecerán en su perdición,
But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed,
como que tienen los ojos llenos de adulterio y de un continuo pecar. Ellos atraen con halagos las almas ligeras e inconstantes, teniendo el corazón ejercitado en todas las mañas que puede sugerir la avaricia; son hijos de maldición;
Recibiendo el galardón de su injusticia, ya que reputan por delicia poder gozar de deleites cada día. Estos son suciedades y manchas, los cuales comiendo con vosotros, juntamente se recrean en sus errores;
And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime, spots and defects, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you;
han dejado el camino recto, y se han descarriado, siguiendo la senda de Balaam , hijo de Bosor, el cual codició el premio de la maldad;
Teniendo los ojos llenos de adulterio, y no saben cesar de pecar; cebando las almas inconstantes; teniendo el corazón ejercitado en codicias, siendo hijos de maldición;
Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin, enticing unsettled souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children!
mas tuvo quien reprendiese su sandez y mal designio, una muda bestia o burra en que iba montado, hablando en voz humana, refrenó la necedad del profeta.
Que han dejado el camino derecho, y se han extraviado, siguiendo el camino de Balaam, hijo de Bosor, el cual amó el premio de la maldad.
Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
Forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing;
Estos son fuentes pero sin agua, y nieblas agitadas por torbellinos que se mueven a todas partes, para los cuales está reservado el abismo de las tinieblas;
Y fué reprendido por su iniquidad: una muda bestia de carga, hablando en voz de hombre, refrenó la locura del profeta.
But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A speechless donkey spoke with a man’s voice and stopped the madness of the prophet.
porque profiriendo discursos pomposos llenos de vanidad, atraen con el cebo de apetitos carnales de lujuria a los que poco antes habían huido de la compañía de los que profesan el error,
Estos son fuentes sin agua, y nubes traídas de torbellino de viento: para los cuales está guardada la oscuridad de las tinieblas para siempre.
These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.
prometiéndoles libertad, cuando ellos mismos son esclavos de la corrupción; pues quien de otro es vencido, por lo mismo queda esclavo del que le venció.
Porque hablando arrogantes palabras de vanidad, ceban con las concupiscencias de la carne en disoluciones á los que verdaderamente habían huído de los que conversan en error;
For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error;
Porque si después de haberse apartado de las asquerosidades del mundo por el conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, enredados otra vez en ellas son vencidos, su postrera condición viene a ser peor que la primera.
Prometiéndoles libertad, siendo ellos mismos siervos de corrupción. Porque el que es de alguno vencido, es sujeto á la servidumbre del que lo venció.
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him.
Por lo que mejor les fuera no haber conocido el camino de la justicia, que después de conocido volver atrás y abandonar la ley santa que se les había dado,
Ciertamente, si habiéndose ellos apartado de las contaminaciones del mundo, por el conocimiento del Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, y otra vez envolviéndose en ellas, son vencidos, sus postrimerías les son hechas peores que los principios.
For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.
cumpliéndose en ellos lo que suele significarse por aquel refrán verdadero: Se volvió el perro a comer lo que vomitó; y: La marrana lavada, a revolcarse en el cieno.
Porque mejor les hubiera sido no haber conocido el camino de la justicia, que después de haberlo conocido, tornarse atrás del santo mandamiento que les fué dado.
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.
Esta es ya, carísimos míos, la segunda carta que os escribo, procurando en las dos avivar con mis exhortaciones vuestro ánimo sencillo, o sincero;
Pero les ha acontecido lo del verdadero proverbio: El perro se volvió á su vómito, y la puerca lavada á revolcarse en el cieno.
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, “The dog turns to his own vomit again,” and “the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire.”
