Dies ist nun schon der zweite Brief, Geliebte, den ich euch schreibe; in beiden suche ich die lautere Gesinnung in euch durch (meine) mahnende Erinnerung wachzurufen,
CARÍSIMOS, yo os escribo ahora esta segunda carta, por las cuales ambas despierto con exhortación vuestro limpio entendimiento;
This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

damit ihr die Worte, welche die heiligen Propheten zuvor geredet haben, und das von euren Aposteln euch mitgeteilte Gebot unsers Herrn und Erretters in der Erinnerung festhaltet.
Para que tengáis memoria de las palabras que antes han sido dichas por los santos profetas, y de nuestro mandamiento, que somos apóstoles del Señor y Salvador:

Ihr müßt dabei aber zunächst bedenken, daß am Ende der Tage Spötter voll Spottsucht auftreten werden, Menschen, die nach ihren eigenen Lüsten wandeln
Sabiendo primero esto, que en los postrimeros días vendrán burladores, andando según sus propias concupiscencias,
Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Bei dieser Behauptung lassen sie nämlich unbeachtet, daß es von alters her Himmel gab und eine Erde da war, die aus Wasser und mittelst Wassers kraft des Wortes Gottes ihren Bestand hatte,
Cierto ellos ignoran voluntariamente, que los cielos fueron en el tiempo antiguo, y la tierra que por agua y en agua está asentada, por la palabra de Dios;
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

und eben deshalb ist die damalige Welt im Wasser durch Überflutung zugrunde gegangen.
Por lo cual el mundo de entonces pereció anegado en agua:

Der gegenwärtige Himmel und die (jetzige) Erde dagegen sind durch dasselbe Wort für das Feuer aufgespart und werden für den Tag des Gerichts und des Untergangs der gottlosen Menschen aufbewahrt.
Mas los cielos que son ahora, y la tierra, son conservados por la misma palabra, guardados para el fuego en el día del juicio, y de la perdición de los hombres impíos.
But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Ferner dürft ihr dies eine nicht unbeachtet lassen, Geliebte, daß »ein Tag beim Herrn wie tausend Jahre ist und tausend Jahre wie ein Tag«.
Mas, oh amados, no ignoréis esta una cosa: que un día delante del Señor es como mil años y mil años como un día.

Der Herr ist mit der (Erfüllung seiner) Verheißung nicht säumig, wie manche Leute (in seinem Verhalten) eine Säumigkeit sehen, sondern er übt Langmut gegen euch, weil er nicht will, daß einige verlorengehen, sondern daß alle zur Buße gelangen.
El Señor no tarda su promesa, como algunos la tienen por tardanza; sino que es paciente para con nosotros, no queriendo que ninguno perezca, sino que todos procedan al arrepentimiento.

Da nun dies alles sich so auflöst, wie muß es da bei euch mit den Erweisen von heiligem Wandel und Gottseligkeit bestellt sein,

indem ihr auf die Ankunft des Tages Gottes wartet und euch darauf rüstet, um dessen willen die Himmel im Feuer zergehen werden und die Elemente in der Flammenglut zerschmelzen!
Esperando y apresurándoos para la venida del día de Dios, en el cual los cielos siendo encendidos serán deshechos, y los elementos siendo abrasados, se fundirán?
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Wir erwarten aber nach seiner Verheißung neue Himmel und eine neue Erde, in denen Gerechtigkeit wohnt.

und erachtet die Langmut unsers Herrn für Errettung, wie ja auch unser geliebter Bruder Paulus nach der ihm verliehenen Weisheit euch geschrieben hat.

Ebenso ist es ja in allen seinen Briefen der Fall, wenn er in ihnen auf diese Dinge zu sprechen kommt. In diesen (Briefen) findet sich allerdings manches Schwerverständliche, das die Unwissenden und Ungefestigten ebenso zu ihrem eigenen Verderben verdrehen, wie sie es auch bei den übrigen (heiligen) Schriften tun.
Casi en todas sus epístolas, hablando en ellas de estas cosas; entre las cuales hay algunas difíciles de entender, las cuales los indoctos é inconstantes tuercen, como también las otras Escrituras, para perdición de sí mismos.

Weil ihr dies nun zum voraus wißt, Geliebte, so seid auf eurer Hut, daß ihr nicht durch die Verirrung der gewissenlosen Leute mit fortgerissen und aus eurem eigenen festen Glaubensstande hinausgeworfen werdet!
Así que vosotros, oh amados, pues estáis amonestados, guardaos que por el error de los abominables no seáis juntamente extraviados, y caigáis de vuestra firmeza.

Wachst vielmehr in der Gnade und Erkenntnis unsers Herrn und Erretters Jesus Christus! Ihm gebührt die Herrlichkeit sowohl jetzt als auch für den Tag der Ewigkeit!
Mas creced en la gracia y conocimiento de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. A él sea gloria ahora y hasta el día de la eternidad. Amén.
