And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.

“Está bem”, respondeu o rei; “vá em paz!” Assim Absalão foi a Hebrom.

And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee; for we shall not else escape from Absalom: make speed to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly, and bring evil upon us, and smite the city with the edge of the sword.

Itai respondeu: “Prometo pelo nome do Senhor e pela sua vida que onde o rei, o meu senhor, for lá estará o seu servo, não importa o que possa acontecer! Estarei ao seu lado, seja para viver ou para morrer!”

And Ittai answered the king, and said, As the LORD liveth, and as my lord the king liveth, surely in what place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also will thy servant be.

Então Davi respondeu a Itai: “Muito bem, então vamos”. E Itai, o geteu, e seus seiscentos homens com suas famílias acompanharam Davi.

Havia grande tristeza e choro por onde eles passavam. Atravessaram o vale do Cedrom e continuaram seguindo em direção ao deserto.

Se ele não se agradar de mim, seja feito comigo conforme a sua vontade”.

But if he thus say, I have no delight in thee; behold, here am I, let him do to me as seemeth good unto him.

Então o rei disse a Zadoque: “Escute, este é o meu plano: Volte em silêncio à cidade com seu filho Aimaás e Jônatas, filho de Abiatar.

Assim, Zadoque e Abiatar transportaram a arca de Deus de volta para Jerusalém e lá ficaram.

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom. And David said, O LORD, I pray thee, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness.

Quando chegaram ao alto do monte das Oliveiras, no lugar onde o povo costumava adorar a Deus, Davi se encontrou com Husai, o arquita, que esperava por ele; Husai estava com as roupas rasgadas e a cabeça coberta com terra, pois era grande o seu estado de aflição e desespero.
Y como David llegó á la cumbre del monte para adorar allí á Dios, he aquí Husai Arachîta que le salió al encuentro, trayendo rota su ropa, y tierra sobre su cabeza.
And it came to pass, that when David was come to the top of the mount, where he worshipped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat rent, and earth upon his head:

Mas Davi lhe disse: “Husai, não adianta você vir comigo;
Y díjole David: Si pasares conmigo, serme has de carga;
Unto whom David said, If thou passest on with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:
David said to him, “If you pass on with me, then you will be a burden to me;
você me será mais útil se voltar para Jerusalém. Procure Absalão e diga a ele: ‘Aqui estou; serei o seu conselheiro como fui para o seu pai’. Assim, você poderá frustrar os conselhos de Aitofel.
Mas si volvieres á la ciudad, y dijeres á Absalom: Rey, yo seré tu siervo; como hasta aquí he sido siervo de tu padre, así seré ahora siervo tuyo, entonces tú me disiparás el consejo de Achitophel.
But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of Ahithophel.

Então eles mandarão seus filhos Aimaás e Jônatas até onde estou para me darem notícias de tudo que está acontecendo”.
