23Mientras tanto, Ajitofel, desacreditado públicamente porque Absalón no había aceptado su consejo, aparejó un burro, se fue a su casa en la ciudad, puso en orden sus asuntos, y se ahorcó. De esta manera murió y fue sepultado junto a su padre.
