And David sent forth a third part of the people under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.

Mas o povo disse: “Você não deve sair, pois se nós fugirmos, eles não se importarão conosco, e nem mesmo se metade de nós morrer, eles se importarão conosco. Mas você vale por dez mil de nós. Portanto, agora é melhor que você esteja pronto para nos ajudar a partir da cidade.”
Mas el pueblo dijo: No saldrás; porque si nosotros huyéremos, no harán caso de nosotros; y aunque la mitad de nosotros muera, no harán caso de nosotros: mas tú ahora vales tanto como diez mil de nosotros. Será pues mejor que tú nos des ayuda desde la ciudad.
But the people answered, Thou shalt not go forth: for if we flee away, they will not care for us; neither if half of us die, will they care for us: but now thou art worth ten thousand of us: therefore now it is better that thou succour us out of the city.

O rei lhes disse: “Farei o que parecer melhor a vocês.” O rei ficou ao lado da porta da cidade, e todo o povo saiu às centenas e aos milhares.

O rei deu ordens a Joabe, a Abisai e a Itai, dizendo: “Tratem com brandura o jovem Absalão, por amor a mim.” E todo o povo ouviu quando o rei deu ordens a todos os capitães a respeito de Absalão.

And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom. And all the people heard when the king gave all the captains charge concerning Absalom.

Aconteceu que Absalão se encontrou com os servos de Davi. Absalão estava montado em sua mula, e a mula passou por baixo dos ramos espessos de um grande carvalho; a sua cabeça ficou presa no carvalho, e ele ficou pendurado entre o céu e a terra; e a mula que estava debaixo dele seguiu em frente.
Y encontróse Absalom con los siervos de David: é iba Absalom sobre un mulo, y el mulo se entró debajo de un espeso y grande alcornoque, y asiósele la cabeza al alcornoque, y quedó entre el cielo y la tierra; pues el mulo en que iba pasó delante.

Um homem viu aquilo, contou a Joabe e disse: “Eis que vi Absalão pendurado em um carvalho.”

And a certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said, Behold, I saw Absalom hanged in an oak.

And Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest him, and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground? and I would have given thee ten shekels of silver, and a girdle.

O homem respondeu a Joabe: “Ainda que eu recebesse mil peças de prata em minhas mãos, eu não estenderia a minha mão contra o filho do rei; pois em nossos ouvidos o rei ordenou a você, a Abisai e a Itai, dizendo: 'Cuidado para que ninguém toque no jovem Absalão.'
Y el hombre dijo á Joab: Aunque me importara en mis manos mil siclos de plata, no extendiera yo mi mano contra el hijo del rey; porque nosotros lo oímos cuando el rey te mandó á ti y á Abisai y á Ittai, diciendo: Mirad que ninguno toque en el joven Absalom.
And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand against the king’s son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.
The man said to Joab, “Though I should receive a thousand pieces of silver in my hand, I still wouldn’t stretch out my hand against the king’s son; for in our hearing the king commanded you and Abishai and Ittai, saying, ‘Beware that no one touch the young man Absalom.’
Caso contrário, se eu tivesse agido falsamente contra a vida dele (e nada fica escondido do rei), então você mesmo teria se colocado contra mim.”
Por otra parte, habría yo hecho traición contra mi vida (pues que al rey nada se le esconde), y tú mismo estarías en contra.
Otherwise I should have wrought falsehood against mine own life: for there is no matter hid from the king, and thou thyself wouldest have set thyself against me.

Então Joabe disse: “Não vou ficar esperando assim com você.” Ele pegou três dardos em sua mão e os cravou no coração de Absalão enquanto ele ainda estava vivo no meio do carvalho.
Y respondió Joab: No es razón que yo te ruegue. Y tomando tres dardos en sus manos, hincólos en el corazón de Absalom, que aun estaba vivo en medio del alcornoque.
Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.
Then Joab said, “I’m not going to wait like this with you.” He took three darts in his hand and thrust them through Absalom’s heart while he was still alive in the middle of the oak.
Dez jovens, escudeiros de Joabe, cercaram e feriram Absalão, e o mataram.

And ten young men that bare Joab’s armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.

Então Aimaás, filho de Zadoque, disse: “Deixe-me correr agora e levar ao rei a notícia de como o SENHOR o vingou de seus inimigos.”
Entonces Ahimaas hijo de Sadoc dijo: ¿Correré ahora, y daré las nuevas al rey de como Jehová ha defendido su causa de la mano de sus enemigos?
Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok, Let me now run, and bear the king tidings, how that the LORD hath avenged him of his enemies.
Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said, “Let me now run and carry the king news, how the LORD has avenged him of his enemies.”
Joabe lhe respondeu: “Você não deve ser o portador de notícias hoje, mas deve levar notícias em outro dia. Hoje, porém, você não levará notícia alguma, porque o filho do rei está morto.”
Y respondió Joab: Hoy no llevarás las nuevas: las llevarás otro día: no darás hoy la nueva, porque el hijo del rey es muerto.
And Joab said unto him, Thou shalt not bear tidings this day, but thou shalt bear tidings another day: but this day thou shalt bear no tidings, because the king’s son is dead.
Joab said to him, “You must not be the bearer of news today, but you must carry news another day. But today you must carry no news, because the king’s son is dead.”
Então Joabe disse ao cuxita: “Vá e conte ao rei o que você viu!” O cuxita se curvou a Joabe e correu.
Y Joab dijo á Cusi: Ve tú, y di al rey lo que has visto. Y Cusi hizo reverencia á Joab, y corrió.
Then said Joab to Cushi, Go tell the king what thou hast seen. And Cushi bowed himself unto Joab, and ran.
Then Joab said to the Cushite, “Go, tell the king what you have seen!” The Cushite bowed himself to Joab, and ran.
Então Aimaás, filho de Zadoque, disse mais uma vez a Joabe: “Mas, aconteça o que acontecer, por favor, deixe-me também correr atrás do cuxita.” Joabe disse: “Por que você quer correr, meu filho, visto que não terá recompensa pelas notícias?”
Entonces Ahimaas hijo de Sadoc tornó á decir á Joab: Sea lo que fuere, yo correré ahora tras Cusi. Y Joab dijo: Hijo mío, ¿para qué has tú de correr, pues que no hallarás premio por las nuevas?
Then said Ahimaaz the son of Zadok yet again to Joab, But howsoever, let me, I pray thee, also run after Cushi. And Joab said, Wherefore wilt thou run, my son, seeing that thou hast no tidings ready?
Then Ahimaaz the son of Zadok said yet again to Joab, “But come what may, please let me also run after the Cushite.” Joab said, “Why do you want to run, my son, since you will have no reward for the news?”
“Mas, aconteça o que acontecer,” ele disse, “eu vou correr.” Ele lhe respondeu: “Corra!” Então Aimaás correu pelo caminho da Planície, e ultrapassou o cuxita.

But howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the plain, and overran Cushi.
“But come what may,” he said, “I will run.” He said to him, “Run!” Then Ahimaaz ran by the way of the Plain, and outran the Cushite.
Ora, Davi estava sentado entre as duas portas da cidade; e a sentinela subiu ao terraço da porta, sobre a muralha, levantou os olhos e olhou, e eis um homem correndo sozinho.
Estaba David á la sazón sentado entre las dos puertas; y el atalaya había ido al terrado de sobre la puerta en el muro, y alzando sus ojos, miró, y vió á uno que corría solo.
And David sat between the two gates: and the watchman went up to the roof over the gate unto the wall, and lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold a man running alone.
Now David was sitting between the two gates; and the watchman went up to the roof of the gate to the wall, and lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, a man running alone.
A sentinela gritou e avisou o rei. O rei disse: “Se ele está sozinho, há boas notícias em sua boca.” Ele se aproximava cada vez mais.
El atalaya dió luego voces, é hízolo saber al rey. Y el rey dijo: Si es solo, buenas nuevas trae. En tanto que él venía acercándose,
And the watchman cried, and told the king. And the king said, If he be alone, there is tidings in his mouth. And he came apace, and drew near.
The watchman shouted and told the king. The king said, “If he is alone, there is news in his mouth.” He came closer and closer.
A sentinela viu outro homem correndo; e a sentinela gritou para o porteiro e disse: “Eis outro homem correndo sozinho!” O rei disse: “Ele também traz notícias.”
Vió el atalaya otro que corría; y dió voces el atalaya al portero, diciendo: He aquí otro hombre que corre solo. Y el rey dijo: Éste también es mensajero.
And the watchman saw another man running: and the watchman called unto the porter, and said, Behold another man running alone. And the king said, He also bringeth tidings.
The watchman saw another man running; and the watchman called to the gatekeeper and said, “Behold, a man running alone!” The king said, “He also brings news.”
A sentinela disse: “Eu acho que o jeito de correr do primeiro se parece com o jeito de correr de Aimaás, filho de Zadoque.” O rei disse: “Ele é um homem bom e vem com boas notícias.”
Y el atalaya volvió á decir: Paréceme el correr del primero como el correr de Ahimaas hijo de Sadoc. Y respondió el rey: Ese es hombre de bien, y viene con buena nueva.
And the watchman said, Me thinketh the running of the foremost is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok. And the king said, He is a good man, and cometh with good tidings.
The watchman said, “I think the running of the first one is like the running of Ahimaaz the son of Zadok.” The king said, “He is a good man, and comes with good news.”
Aimaás gritou e disse ao rei: “Tudo está bem.” Ele se prostrou diante do rei com o rosto em terra e disse: “Bendito seja o SENHOR, o seu Deus, que entregou os homens que levantaram a mão contra o meu senhor, o rei!”
Entonces Ahimaas dijo en alta voz al rey: Paz. E inclinóse á tierra delante del rey, y dijo: Bendito sea Jehová Dios tuyo, que ha entregado á los hombres que habían levantado sus manos contra mi señor el rey.
And Ahimaaz called, and said unto the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, which hath delivered up the men that lifted up their hand against my lord the king.
Ahimaaz called, and said to the king, “All is well.” He bowed himself before the king with his face to the earth, and said, “Blessed is the LORD your God, who has delivered up the men who lifted up their hand against my lord the king!”
O rei perguntou: “O jovem Absalão está bem?” Aimaás respondeu: “Quando Joabe enviou o servo do rei, a mim, o seu servo, eu vi um grande tumulto, mas não sei o que era.”
Y el rey dijo: ¿El mozo Absalom tiene paz? Y Ahimaas respondió: Vi yo un grande alboroto cuando envió Joab al siervo del rey y á mí tu siervo; mas no sé qué era.
And the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Ahimaaz answered, When Joab sent the king’s servant, and me thy servant, I saw a great tumult, but I knew not what it was.
The king said, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” Ahimaaz answered, “When Joab sent the king’s servant, even me your servant, I saw a great tumult, but I don’t know what it was.”
O rei disse: “Venha e fique aqui.” Ele veio e ficou parado.
Y el rey dijo: Pasa, y ponte allí. Y él pasó, y paróse.
And the king said unto him, Turn aside, and stand here. And he turned aside, and stood still.
The king said, “Come and stand here.” He came and stood still.
Eis que chegou o cuxita. O cuxita disse: “Boas notícias para o meu senhor, o rei, pois o SENHOR o vingou hoje de todos aqueles que se levantaram contra o senhor.”
Y luego vino Cusi, y dijo: Reciba nueva mi señor el rey, que hoy Jehová ha defendido tu causa de la mano de todos los que se habían levantado contra ti.
And, behold, Cushi came; and Cushi said, Tidings, my lord the king: for the LORD hath avenged thee this day of all them that rose up against thee.
Behold, the Cushite came. The Cushite said, “Good news for my lord the king, for the LORD has avenged you today of all those who rose up against you.”
O rei perguntou ao cuxita: “O jovem Absalão está bem?” O cuxita respondeu: “Que os inimigos do meu senhor, o rei, e todos os que se levantam contra o senhor para lhe fazer o mal, fiquem como aquele jovem.”
El rey entonces dijo á Cusi: ¿El mozo Absalom tiene paz? Y Cusi respondió: Como aquel mozo sean los enemigos de mi señor el rey, y todos los que se levantan contra ti para mal.
And the king said unto Cushi, Is the young man Absalom safe? And Cushi answered, The enemies of my lord the king, and all that rise against thee to do thee hurt, be as that young man is.
The king said to the Cushite, “Is it well with the young man Absalom?” The Cushite answered, “May the enemies of my lord the king, and all who rise up against you to do you harm, be as that young man is.”
O rei ficou muito comovido, e subiu ao quarto por cima da porta da cidade, e chorou. Enquanto ia, ele dizia: “Meu filho Absalão! Meu filho, meu filho Absalão! Quem me dera ter morrido em seu lugar, Absalão, meu filho, meu filho!”
Entonces el rey se turbó, y subióse á la sala de la puerta, y lloró; y yendo, decía así: ¡Hijo mío Absalom, hijo mío, hijo mío Absalom! ¡Quién me diera que muriera yo en lugar de ti, Absalom, hijo mío, hijo mío!
And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son!
