Or vennero a dire a Joab: “Ecco, il re piange e fa cordoglio a motivo di Absalom”.

Y DIERON aviso á Joab: He aquí el rey llora, y hace duelo por Absalom.

And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

E la vittoria in quel giorno si cangiò in lutto per tutto il popolo, perché il popolo sentì dire in quel giorno: “Il re è molto afflitto a cagione del suo figliuolo”.

Y volvióse aquel día la victoria en luto para todo el pueblo; porque oyó decir el pueblo aquel día que el rey tenía dolor por su hijo.

And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.

E il popolo in quel giorno rientrò furtivamente in città, com’avrebbe fatto gente coperta di vergogna per esser fuggita in battaglia.

Entróse el pueblo aquel día en la ciudad escondidamente, como suele entrar á escondidas el pueblo avergonzado que ha huído de la batalla.

And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

E il re s’era coperto la faccia, e ad alta voce gridava: “Absalom figliuol mio! Absalom figliuol mio, figliuol mio!”

Mas el rey, cubierto el rostro, clamaba en alta voz: ¡Hijo mío Absalom, Absalom, hijo mío, hijo mío!

And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

giacché ami quelli che t’odiano, e odi quelli che t’amano; infatti oggi tu fai vedere che capitani e soldati per te son nulla; e ora io vedo bene che se Absalom fosse vivo e noi fossimo quest’oggi tutti morti, allora saresti contento.

Amando á los que te aborrecen, y aborreciendo á los que te aman: porque hoy has declarado que nada te importan tus príncipes y siervos; pues hoy echo de ver que si Absalom viviera, bien que nosotros todos estuviéramos hoy muertos, entonces te contentaras.

In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

in that you love those who hate you and hate those who love you. For you have declared today that princes and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived and we had all died today, then it would have pleased you well.

Or dunque lèvati, esci, e parla al cuore della tua gente; perché io giuro per l’Eterno che, se non esci, neppure un uomo resterà con te questa notte; e questa sarà per te sventura maggiore di tutte quelle che ti son cadute addosso dalla tua giovinezza fino a oggi”.

Levántate pues ahora, y sal fuera, y halaga á tus siervos: porque juro por Jehová, que si no sales, ni aun uno quede contigo esta noche; y de esto te pesará más que de todos los males que te han sobrevenido desde tu mocedad hasta ahora.

Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

Allora il re si levò e si pose a sedere alla porta; e ne fu dato l’annunzio a tutto il popolo, dicendo: “Ecco il re sta assiso alla porta”. E tutto il popolo venne in presenza del re. Or quei d’Israele se n’eran fuggiti, ognuno nella sua tenda;

e in tutte le tribù d’Israele tutto il popolo stava discutendo, e dicevano: “Il re ci ha liberati dalle mani dei nostri nemici e ci ha salvati dalle mani de’ Filistei; e ora ha dovuto fuggire dal paese a cagione di Absalom;

Y todo el pueblo porfiaba en todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: El rey nos ha librado de mano de nuestros enemigos, y él nos ha salvado de mano de los Filisteos; y ahora había huído de la tierra por miedo de Absalom.

And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

e Absalom, che noi avevamo unto perché regnasse su noi, è morto in battaglia; perché dunque non parlate di far tornare il re?”

E il re Davide mandò a dire ai sacerdoti Tsadok ed Abiathar: “Parlate agli anziani di Giuda, e dite loro: Perché sareste voi ultimi a ricondurre il re a casa sua? I discorsi che si tengono in tutto Israele sono giunti fino alla casa del re.

Y el rey David envió á Sadoc y á Abiathar sacerdotes, diciendo: Hablad á los ancianos de Judá y decidles: ¿Por qué seréis vosotros los postreros en volver el rey á su casa, ya que la palabra de todo Israel ha venido al rey de volverle á su casa?

And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

Voi siete miei fratelli, siete mie ossa e mia carne; perché dunque sareste gli ultimi a far tornare il re?

Vosotros sois mis hermanos; mis huesos y mi carne sois: ¿por qué pues seréis vosotros los postreros en volver al rey?

Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king?

E dite ad Amasa: Non sei tu mie ossa e mia carne? Iddio mi tratti con tutto il suo rigore, se tu non diventi per sempre capo dell’esercito, invece di Joab”.

Asimismo diréis á Amasa: ¿No eres tú también hueso mío y carne mía? Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si no fueres general del ejército delante de mí para siempre, en lugar de Joab.

And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

Così Davide piegò il cuore di tutti gli uomini di Giuda, come se fosse stato il cuore di un sol uomo; ed essi mandarono a dire al re: “Ritorna tu con tutta la tua gente”.

Así inclinó el corazón de todos los varones de Judá, como el de un solo hombre, para que enviasen á decir al rey: Vuelve tú, y todos tus siervos.

And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

Shimei, figliuolo di Ghera, Beniaminita, ch’era di Bahurim, si affrettò a scendere con gli uomini di Giuda incontro al re Davide.

Egli avea seco mille uomini di Beniamino, Tsiba, servo della casa di Saul, coi suoi quindici figliuoli e i suoi venti servi. Essi passarono il Giordano davanti al re.

gli disse: “Non tenga conto, il mio signore, della mia iniquità, e dimentichi la perversa condotta tenuta dal suo servo il giorno in cui il re mio signore usciva da Gerusalemme, e non ne serbi il re risentimento!

Y dijo al rey: No me impute mi señor iniquidad, ni tengas memoria de los males que tu siervo hizo el día que mi señor el rey salió de Jerusalem, para guardarlos el rey en su corazón;

And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

He said to the king, “Don’t let my lord impute iniquity to me, or remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

Poiché il tuo servo riconosce che ha peccato; e per questo sono stato oggi il primo di tutta la casa di Giuseppe a scendere incontro al re mio signore”.

For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

Ma Abishai, figliuolo di Tseruia, prese a dire: “Nonostante questo, Shimei non dev’egli morire per aver maledetto l’unto dell’Eterno?”

Y Abisai hijo de Sarvia respondió y dijo: ¿No ha de morir por esto Semei, que maldijo al ungido de Jehová?

E Davide disse: “Che ho io da fare con voi, o figliuoli di Tseruia, che vi mostrate oggi miei avversari? Si farebb’egli morir oggi qualcuno in Israele? Non so io dunque che oggi divento re d’Israele?”

David entonces dijo: ¿Qué tenéis vosotros conmigo, hijos de Sarvia, que me habéis de ser hoy adversarios? ¿ha de morir hoy alguno en Israel? ¿no conozco yo que hoy soy rey sobre Israel?

And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should be adversaries to me today? Shall any man be put to death today in Israel? For don’t I know that I am king over Israel today?”

E il re disse a Shimei: “Tu non morrai!” E il re glielo giurò.

Y dijo el rey á Semei: No morirás. Y el rey se lo juró.

Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

Mefibosheth, nipote di Saul, scese anch’egli incontro al re. Ei non s’era puliti i piedi, né spuntata la barba, né lavate le vesti dal giorno in cui il re era partito fino a quello in cui tornava in pace.

También Mephi-boseth hijo de Saúl descendió á recibir al rey: no había lavado sus pies, ni había cortado su barba, ni tampoco había lavado sus vestidos, desde el día que el rey salió hasta el día que vino en paz.

And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

E quando fu giunto da Gerusalemme per incontrare il re, il re gli disse: “Perché non venisti meco, Mefibosheth?”

And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

Quegli rispose: “O re, mio signore, il mio servo m’ingannò; perché il tuo servo, che è zoppo, avea detto: Io mi farò sellar l’asino, monterò, e andrò col re.

And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

He answered, “My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, ‘I will saddle a donkey for myself, that I may ride on it and go with the king,’ because your servant is lame.

Ed egli ha calunniato il tuo servo presso il re mio signore; ma il re mio signore è come un angelo di Dio; fa’ dunque ciò che ti piacerà.

And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

Poiché tutti quelli della casa di mio padre non avrebbero meritato dal re mio signore altro che la morte; e, nondimeno, tu avevi posto il tuo servo fra quelli che mangiano alla tua mensa. E qual altro diritto poss’io avere? E perché continuerei io a supplicare il re?”

Porque toda la casa de mi padre era digna de muerte delante de mi señor el rey, y tú pusiste á tu siervo entre los convidados de tu mesa. ¿Qué derecho pues tengo aún para quejarme más contra el rey?

For all of my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

E il re gli disse: “Non occorre che tu aggiunga altre parole. L’ho detto; tu e Tsiba dividetevi le terre”.

And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

The king said to him, “Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land.”

E Mefibosheth rispose al re: “Si prenda pur egli ogni cosa, giacché il re mio signore è tornato in pace a casa sua”.

Y Mephi-boseth dijo al rey: Y aun tómelas él todas, pues que mi señor el rey ha vuelto en paz á su casa.

And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

Mephibosheth said to the king, “Yes, let him take all, because my lord the king has come in peace to his own house.”

Or Barzillai, il Galaadita, scese da Roghelim, e passò il Giordano col re per accompagnarlo di là dal Giordano.

También Barzillai Galaadita descendió de Rogelim, y pasó el Jordán con el rey, para acompañarle de la otra parte del Jordán.

Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

Il re disse a Barzillai: “Vieni con me oltre il fiume; io provvederò al tuo sostentamento a casa mia a Gerusalemme”.

Y el rey dijo á Barzillai: Pasa conmigo, y yo te daré de comer conmigo en Jerusalem.

And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

The king said to Barzillai, “Come over with me, and I will sustain you with me in Jerusalem.”

Ma Barzillai rispose al re: “Troppo pochi son gli anni che mi resta da vivere perch’io salga col re a Gerusalemme.

Mas Barzillai dijo al rey: ¿Cuántos son los días del tiempo de mi vida, para que yo suba con el rey á Jerusalem?

And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

Barzillai said to the king, “How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

Io ho adesso ottant’anni: posso io ancora discernere ciò ch’è buono da ciò che è cattivo? Può il tuo servo gustare ancora ciò che mangia o ciò che beve? Posso io udire ancora la voce dei cantori e delle cantatrici? E perché dunque il tuo servo sarebb’egli d’aggravio al re mio signore?

Yo soy hoy día de edad de ochenta años, que ya no haré diferencia entre lo bueno y lo malo: ¿tomará gusto ahora tu siervo en lo que comiere ó bebiere? ¿oiré más la voz de los cantores y de las cantoras? ¿para qué, pues, sería aún tu siervo molesto á mi señor el rey?

I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

I am eighty years old, today. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear the voice of singing men and singing women any more? Why then should your servant be a burden to my lord the king?

Solo per poco tempo andrebbe il tuo servo oltre il Giordano col re; e perché il re vorrebb’egli rimunerarmi con un cotal beneficio?

Pasará tu siervo un poco el Jordán con el rey: ¿por qué me ha de dar el rey tan grande recompensa?

Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

Your servant will just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?

Deh, lascia che il tuo servo se ne ritorni indietro, e ch’io possa morire nella mia città presso la tomba di mio padre e di mia madre! Ma ecco il tuo servo Kimham; passi egli col re mio signore, e fa’ per lui quello che ti piacerà”.

Yo te ruego que dejes volver á tu siervo, y que muera en mi ciudad, junto al sepulcro de mi padre y de mi madre. He aquí tu siervo Chimham; que pase él con mi señor el rey, y hazle lo que bien te pareciere.

Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

Il re rispose: “Venga meco Kimham, e io farò per lui quello che a te piacerà; e farò per te tutto quello che desidererai da me”.

Y el rey dijo: Pues pase conmigo Chimham, y yo haré con él como bien te parezca: y todo lo que tú pidieres de mí, yo lo haré.

And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

The king answered, “Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you request of me, that I will do for you.”

E quando tutto il popolo ebbe passato il Giordano e l’ebbe passato anche il re, il re baciò Barzillai e lo benedisse, ed egli se ne tornò a casa sua.

Y todo el pueblo pasó el Jordán: y luego que el rey hubo también pasado, el rey besó á Barzillai, y bendíjolo; y él se volvió á su casa.

And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

Così il re passò oltre, e andò a Ghilgal; e Kimham lo accompagnò. Tutto il popolo di Giuda e anche la metà del popolo d’Israele aveano fatto scorta al re.

El rey entonces pasó á Gilgal, y con él pasó Chimham; y todo el pueblo de Judá, con la mitad del pueblo de Israel, pasaron al rey.

Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

Allora tutti gli altri Israeliti vennero dal re e gli dissero: “Perché i nostri fratelli, gli uomini di Giuda, ti hanno portato via di nascosto, e hanno fatto passare il Giordano al re, alla sua famiglia e a tutta la gente di Davide?”

Y he aquí todos los varones de Israel vinieron al rey, y le dijeron: ¿Por qué los hombres de Judá, nuestros hermanos, te han llevado, y han hecho pasar el Jordán al rey y á su familia, y á todos los varones de David con él?

And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David’s men with him, over Jordan?

E tutti gli uomini di Giuda risposero agli uomini d’Israele: “Perché il re appartiene a noi più dappresso; e perché vi adirate voi per questo? Abbiam noi mangiato a spese del re? O abbiam noi ricevuto qualche regalo?”

Y todos los varones de Judá respondieron á todos los de Israel: Porque el rey es nuestro pariente. Mas ¿por qué os enojáis vosotros de eso? ¿hemos nosotros comido algo del rey? ¿hemos recibido de él algún don?

And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?

All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s cost? Or has he given us any gift?”

E gli uomini d’Israele risposero agli uomini di Giuda: “Il re appartiene a noi dieci volte più che a voi, e quindi Davide è più nostro che vostro; perché dunque ci avete disprezzati? Non siamo stati noi i primi a proporre di far tornare il nostro re?” Ma il parlare degli uomini di Giuda fu più violento di quello degli uomini d’Israele.

Entonces respondieron los varones de Israel, y dijeron á los de Judá: Nosotros tenemos en el rey diez partes, y en el mismo David más que vosotros: ¿por qué pues nos habéis tenido en poco? ¿no hablamos nosotros primero en volver á nuestro rey? Y el razonamiento de los varones de Judá fué más fuerte que el de los varones de Israel.

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
