2 Samuel 19

Y avisaron a Joab que el rey estaba llorando y que hacía duelo por su hijo;

Y DIERON aviso á Joab: He aquí el rey llora, y hace duelo por Absalom.

And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weepeth and mourneth for Absalom.

Joab was told, “Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.”

con lo que la victoria en aquel día se convirtió en luto para todo el ejército; pues la gente oyó decir aquel día: El rey está traspasado de dolor por causa de su hijo.

Y volvióse aquel día la victoria en luto para todo el pueblo; porque oyó decir el pueblo aquel día que el rey tenía dolor por su hijo.

And the victory that day was turned into mourning unto all the people: for the people heard say that day how the king was grieved for his son.

Y así las tropas se abstuvieron de hacer su entrada en la ciudad, como suele abstenerse un ejército derrotado que viene huyendo de una batalla.

Entróse el pueblo aquel día en la ciudad escondidamente, como suele entrar á escondidas el pueblo avergonzado que ha huído de la batalla.

And the people gat them by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

El rey cubrió su cabeza, y exclamaba en alta voz: ¡Hijo mío Absalón! ¡Absalón, hijo mío! ¡Hijo mío!

Mas el rey, cubierto el rostro, clamaba en alta voz: ¡Hijo mío Absalom, Absalom, hijo mío, hijo mío!

Mas Joab entrando en la casa donde el rey estaba, le dijo: Tú has cubierto hoy de confusión los rostros de todos tus siervos, que han salvado tu vida y la vida de tus hijos e hijas, y la vida de tus esposas o reinas, y la de tus demás mujeres secundarias.

Y entrando Joab en casa al rey, díjole: Hoy has avergonzado el rostro de todos tus siervos, que han hoy librado tu vida, y la vida de tus hijos y de tus hijas, y la vida de tus mujeres, y la vida de tus concubinas,

And Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;

Amas a los que te aborrecen, y aborreces a los que te aman, y hoy has mostrado que nada se te da de tus capitanes, ni de tus soldados; y verdaderamente acabo de conocer ahora que si Absalón viviese y todos nosotros hubiésemos perecido, entonces estarías contento.

Amando á los que te aborrecen, y aborreciendo á los que te aman: porque hoy has declarado que nada te importan tus príncipes y siervos; pues hoy echo de ver que si Absalom viviera, bien que nosotros todos estuviéramos hoy muertos, entonces te contentaras.

In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well.

in that you love those who hate you and hate those who love you. For you have declared today that princes and servants are nothing to you. For today I perceive that if Absalom had lived and we had all died today, then it would have pleased you well.

Ahora, pues, ven y sal afuera, habla a tus soldados y manifiéstales que estás satisfecho de ellos; porque yo te juro por el Señor, que si tú no sales, ni un hombre solo ha de quedar contigo esta noche; y te hallarás en un peligro, el mayor de cuantos has tenido desde tu juventud hasta hoy.

Levántate pues ahora, y sal fuera, y halaga á tus siervos: porque juro por Jehová, que si no sales, ni aun uno quede contigo esta noche; y de esto te pesará más que de todos los males que te han sobrevenido desde tu mocedad hasta ahora.

Now therefore arise, go forth, and speak comfortably unto thy servants: for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, there will not tarry one with thee this night: and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now.

Con esto salió el rey y se sentó a la puerta de la ciudad; y sabiendo el pueblo que el rey estaba allí, vino toda la gente a presentarse delante de él. Entretanto los de Israel huyeron a sus tiendas.

Entonces se levantó el rey, y sentóse á la puerta; y fué declarado á todo el pueblo, diciendo: He aquí el rey está sentado á la puerta. Y vino todo el pueblo delante del rey; mas Israel había huído, cada uno á sus estancias.

Then the king arose, and sat in the gate. And they told unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king doth sit in the gate. And all the people came before the king: for Israel had fled every man to his tent.

Además todo el pueblo esparcido por todas las tribus de Israel, a competencia decía: El rey nos libró del poder de nuestros enemigos, él nos salvó de las manos de los filisteos; y ahora ha tenido que huir de esta tierra por causa de Absalón.

Y todo el pueblo porfiaba en todas las tribus de Israel, diciendo: El rey nos ha librado de mano de nuestros enemigos, y él nos ha salvado de mano de los Filisteos; y ahora había huído de la tierra por miedo de Absalom.

And all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for Absalom.

Y pues que Absalón, a quien ungimos por nuestro rey, ha muerto en la batalla, ¿qué es lo que esperáis? ¿Por qué no hacéis volver al rey?

Advertido el rey David de esta buena disposición de todo Israel a su favor, envió a decir a los sacerdotes Sadoc y Abiatar: Hablad a los ancianos de Judá y decidles: ¿Cómo sois los últimos en procurar que el rey vuelva a su casa?

Y el rey David envió á Sadoc y á Abiathar sacerdotes, diciendo: Hablad á los ancianos de Judá y decidles: ¿Por qué seréis vosotros los postreros en volver el rey á su casa, ya que la palabra de todo Israel ha venido al rey de volverle á su casa?

And king David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bring the king back to his house? seeing the speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his house.

Decid también de mi parte a Amasa: Por ventura ¿no eres tú carne y sangre mía? No me haga el Señor ningún bien, y sí mucho mal, si no te hiciere general perpetuo de mis tropas, en vez de Joab.

Asimismo diréis á Amasa: ¿No eres tú también hueso mío y carne mía? Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si no fueres general del ejército delante de mí para siempre, en lugar de Joab.

And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the room of Joab.

De esta suerte ganó el corazón de todos los varones de Judá, como si fuesen un solo hombre, y unánimemente enviaron a decir al rey: Vuelve con todos los tuyos.

Así inclinó el corazón de todos los varones de Judá, como el de un solo hombre, para que enviasen á decir al rey: Vuelve tú, y todos tus siervos.

And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.

Volvió, pues, el rey, y vino hasta el Jordán; y todo Judá fue hasta Gálgala para recibir al rey, y hacer que pasase el Jordán.

También Semei, hijo de Gera de la tribu de Benjamín, natural de Bahurim, acudió a toda prisa, y vino con los de la tribu de Judá a encontrar al rey David,

atravesaron el vado, a fin de hacer pasar la familia del rey, y ponerse a sus órdenes. Luego que el rey hubo pasado el Jordán, Semei, hijo de Gera, postrándose a sus pies,

And there went over a ferry boat to carry over the king’s household, and to do what he thought good. And Shimei the son of Gera fell down before the king, as he was come over Jordan;

le dijo: No quieras castigar, señor, mi maldad, ni te acuerdes de las injurias recibidas de tu siervo el día que saliste, oh rey y señor mío, de Jerusalén , y no las conserves, oh rey, en tu corazón;

Y dijo al rey: No me impute mi señor iniquidad, ni tengas memoria de los males que tu siervo hizo el día que mi señor el rey salió de Jerusalem, para guardarlos el rey en su corazón;

And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither do thou remember that which thy servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

He said to the king, “Don’t let my lord impute iniquity to me, or remember that which your servant did perversely the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should take it to his heart.

porque reconozco yo, tu siervo, el crimen que cometí, y por eso he venido hoy el primero de toda la casa de José a recibir al rey mi señor.

Porque yo tu siervo conozco haber pecado, y he venido hoy el primero de toda la casa de José, para descender á recibir á mi señor el rey.

For thy servant doth know that I have sinned: therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

A lo que respondiendo Abisai, hijo de Sarvia, dijo: ¿Cómo? ¿Y por estas palabras se ha de escapar de la muerte Semei, habiendo maldecido al ungido del Señor?

Y Abisai hijo de Sarvia respondió y dijo: ¿No ha de morir por esto Semei, que maldijo al ungido de Jehová?

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the LORD’s anointed?

Mas David dijo: ¿Qué tengo yo que hacer con vosotros, oh hijos de Sarvia? ¿Por qué hacéis hoy conmigo el oficio de diablos o tentadores? ¿Es hoy día de hacer morir a un hijo de Israel? ¿Puedo acaso olvidar que en este día he sido hecho nuevamente rey de Israel?

David entonces dijo: ¿Qué tenéis vosotros conmigo, hijos de Sarvia, que me habéis de ser hoy adversarios? ¿ha de morir hoy alguno en Israel? ¿no conozco yo que hoy soy rey sobre Israel?

And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel?

David said, “What have I to do with you, you sons of Zeruiah, that you should be adversaries to me today? Shall any man be put to death today in Israel? For don’t I know that I am king over Israel today?”

Y así dijo a Semei: No morirás. Y se lo juró.

Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him.

The king said to Shimei, “You will not die.” The king swore to him.

También Mifiboset, hijo de Saúl, descendió al encuentro del rey, y en señal de dolor no se había lavado los pies, ni hecho la barba, ni mudado sus vestidos desde el día que salió el rey de Jerusalén , hasta que regresó felizmente.

También Mephi-boseth hijo de Saúl descendió á recibir al rey: no había lavado sus pies, ni había cortado su barba, ni tampoco había lavado sus vestidos, desde el día que el rey salió hasta el día que vino en paz.

And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor trimmed his beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.

Se presentó, pues, al rey en Jerusalén , y le dijo el rey: ¿Por qué no fuiste conmigo, Mifiboset?

Y luego que vino él á Jerusalem á recibir al rey, el rey le dijo: Mephi-boseth, ¿por qué no fuiste conmigo?

And it came to pass, when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king, that the king said unto him, Wherefore wentest not thou with me, Mephibosheth?

When he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, the king said to him, “Why didn’t you go with me, Mephibosheth?”

El cual respondió: ¡Ah! mi criado, oh rey y señor mío, se burló de mí, pues estando como estoy impedido de las piernas, le había dicho que me aparejase un asno para montar y seguirte;

Y él dijo: Rey señor mío, mi siervo me ha engañado; pues había tu siervo dicho: Enalbardaré un asno, y subiré en él, é iré al rey; porque tu siervo es cojo.

And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me: for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride thereon, and go to the king; because thy servant is lame.

He answered, “My lord, O king, my servant deceived me. For your servant said, ‘I will saddle a donkey for myself, that I may ride on it and go with the king,’ because your servant is lame.

y sobre no hacerlo, fue a calumniarme a mí, siervo tuvo, delante de ti, que eres mi rey y señor; mas tú, oh señor y rey mío, tú eres como un ángel de Dios; haz lo que fuere de tu agrado.

Empero él revolvió á tu siervo delante de mi señor el rey; mas mi señor el rey es como un ángel de Dios: haz pues lo que bien te pareciere.

And he hath slandered thy servant unto my lord the king; but my lord the king is as an angel of God: do therefore what is good in thine eyes.

He has slandered your servant to my lord the king, but my lord the king is as an angel of God. Therefore do what is good in your eyes.

Porque la casa de mi padre no ha recibido del rey mi señor, sino la muerte; y con todo me colocaste a mí, siervo tuyo, entre los que comen en tu mesa; ¿de qué, pues, puedo yo quejarme justamente?, o ¿cómo podré todavía reclamar nada del rey?

Porque toda la casa de mi padre era digna de muerte delante de mi señor el rey, y tú pusiste á tu siervo entre los convidados de tu mesa. ¿Qué derecho pues tengo aún para quejarme más contra el rey?

For all of my father’s house were but dead men before my lord the king: yet didst thou set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table. What right therefore have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

Mas el rey le dijo: ¿Para qué te cansas en hablar más? Ya te tengo dicho que tú y Siba os repartáis las posesiones.

Y el rey le dijo: ¿Para qué hablas más palabras? Yo he determinado que tú y Siba partáis las tierras.

And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more of thy matters? I have said, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

The king said to him, “Why do you speak any more of your matters? I say, you and Ziba divide the land.”

Sobre lo cual respondió Mifiboset al rey: Tómelo todo si quiere, puesto que el rey, mi señor, ha vuelto felizmente a su casa.

Y Mephi-boseth dijo al rey: Y aun tómelas él todas, pues que mi señor el rey ha vuelto en paz á su casa.

And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Yea, let him take all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

Asimismo Berzellai de Galaad, saliendo de Rogelim, acompañó al rey en el paso del Jordán, dispuesto a seguirlo aun a la otra parte del río.

También Barzillai Galaadita descendió de Rogelim, y pasó el Jordán con el rey, para acompañarle de la otra parte del Jordán.

And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.

Era este Berzellai, galaadita, muy anciano, es a saber de ochenta años; y el mismo que proveyó de víveres al rey mientras moraba en los campamentos o en Mahanaim, porque era hombre riquísimo.

Y era Barzillai muy viejo, de ochenta años, el cual había dado provisión al rey cuando estaba en Mahanaim, porque era hombre muy rico.

Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even fourscore years old: and he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man.

Le dijo, pues, el rey: Vente conmigo para que descanses y vivas felizmente en mi compañía en Jerusalén .

Y el rey dijo á Barzillai: Pasa conmigo, y yo te daré de comer conmigo en Jerusalem.

And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

A lo que respondió Berzellai al rey: ¿Y estoy yo en edad ahora de ir con el rey a Jerusalén ?

Mas Barzillai dijo al rey: ¿Cuántos son los días del tiempo de mi vida, para que yo suba con el rey á Jerusalem?

And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

Barzillai said to the king, “How many are the days of the years of my life, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem?

Ochenta años tengo en el día; ¿acaso tienen vigor mis sentidos para discernir entre lo dulce y lo amargo? ¿O puede deleitar a tu siervo la comida y bebida? ¿O está ya para oír la voz de los cantores y cantoras? ¿A qué fin tu siervo ha de servir de carga al rey, mi señor?

Yo soy hoy día de edad de ochenta años, que ya no haré diferencia entre lo bueno y lo malo: ¿tomará gusto ahora tu siervo en lo que comiere ó bebiere? ¿oiré más la voz de los cantores y de las cantoras? ¿para qué, pues, sería aún tu siervo molesto á mi señor el rey?

I am this day fourscore years old: and can I discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

I am eighty years old, today. Can I discern between good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear the voice of singing men and singing women any more? Why then should your servant be a burden to my lord the king?

Te acompañará tu siervo un poco más allá del Jordán. Por lo demás, no necesito de esa recompensa o mudanza de vida;

Pasará tu siervo un poco el Jordán con el rey: ¿por qué me ha de dar el rey tan grande recompensa?

Thy servant will go a little way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

Your servant will just go over the Jordan with the king. Why should the king repay me with such a reward?

y te suplico que dejes volver a este tu siervo a morir en su patria, y a que sea sepultado junto a su padre y a su madre. Aquí tienes a mi hijo Camaán, tu siervo; éste puede ir contigo, mi rey y señor; y haz con él lo que bien te parezca.

Yo te ruego que dejes volver á tu siervo, y que muera en mi ciudad, junto al sepulcro de mi padre y de mi madre. He aquí tu siervo Chimham; que pase él con mi señor el rey, y hazle lo que bien te pareciere.

Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

Le respondió el rey: Venga, pues, conmigo Camaán; yo haré por él todo lo que quisieres; y cuanto tú me pidieres te será concedido.

Y el rey dijo: Pues pase conmigo Chimham, y yo haré con él como bien te parezca: y todo lo que tú pidieres de mí, yo lo haré.

And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good unto thee: and whatsoever thou shalt require of me, that will I do for thee.

The king answered, “Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do to him that which shall seem good to you. Whatever you request of me, that I will do for you.”

Finalmente, habiendo pasado el rey el Jordán con toda la gente, besó a Berzellai, lo llenó de bendiciones; y volvió Berzellai a su casa.

Y todo el pueblo pasó el Jordán: y luego que el rey hubo también pasado, el rey besó á Barzillai, y bendíjolo; y él se volvió á su casa.

And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he returned unto his own place.

El rey marchó a Gálgala, llevando a Camaán en su compañía. Cuando pasó el rey el Jordán le acompañaba toda la tribu de Judá, y solamente se había hallado allí la mitad del pueblo de Israel.

El rey entonces pasó á Gilgal, y con él pasó Chimham; y todo el pueblo de Judá, con la mitad del pueblo de Israel, pasaron al rey.

Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him: and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

So the king went over to Gilgal, and Chimham went over with him. All the people of Judah brought the king over, and also half the people of Israel.

y así todos los de Israel acudiendo juntos al rey, le dijeron: ¿Por qué razón nuestros hermanos los de Judá se han apoderado de ti, haciendo pasar el Jordán a nuestro rey, y a su familia y a toda su comitiva?

Y he aquí todos los varones de Israel vinieron al rey, y le dijeron: ¿Por qué los hombres de Judá, nuestros hermanos, te han llevado, y han hecho pasar el Jordán al rey y á su familia, y á todos los varones de David con él?

And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king, and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah stolen thee away, and have brought the king, and his household, and all David’s men with him, over Jordan?

Es, respondieron todos los de Judá a los de Israel, porque el rey nos pertenece más de cerca que a vosotros. Pero, ¿y por qué os habéis de enojar por eso? ¿Por ventura hemos comido a expensas del rey, o recibido de él algunos regalos?

Y todos los varones de Judá respondieron á todos los de Israel: Porque el rey es nuestro pariente. Mas ¿por qué os enojáis vosotros de eso? ¿hemos nosotros comido algo del rey? ¿hemos recibido de él algún don?

And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of kin to us: wherefore then be ye angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?

All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is a close relative to us. Why then are you angry about this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s cost? Or has he given us any gift?”

Replicaron los de Israel a los de Judá, diciendo: Diez veces valemos más que vosotros para con el rey; y David, como rey, más nos pertenece a nosotros, que a vosotros. ¿Por qué nos habéis hecho este agravio, y no se nos avisó a nosotros primero, para que fuésemos y trajésemos nuestro rey? Pero los de Judá respondieron con mucha aspereza y tesón a los de Israel.

Entonces respondieron los varones de Israel, y dijeron á los de Judá: Nosotros tenemos en el rey diez partes, y en el mismo David más que vosotros: ¿por qué pues nos habéis tenido en poco? ¿no hablamos nosotros primero en volver á nuestro rey? Y el razonamiento de los varones de Judá fué más fuerte que el de los varones de Israel.

And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more right in David than ye: why then did ye despise us, that our advice should not be first had in bringing back our king? And the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.
