ORA, dopo la morte di Saulle, Davide, essendo ritornato dalla sconfitta degli Amalechiti, dimorò in Siclag due giorni.
Y ACONTECIÓ después de la muerte de Saúl, que vuelto David de la derrota de los Amalecitas, estuvo dos días en Siclag:

Ed al terzo giorno, ecco, un uomo venne dal campo, d'appresso a Saulle, avendo i vestimenti stracciati, e della terra sopra la testa; e, come egli giunse a Davide, si gittò in terra, e gli fece riverenza.
Y al tercer día acaeció, que vino uno del campo de Saúl, rotos sus vestidos, y tierra sobre su cabeza: y llegando á David, postróse en tierra, é hizo reverencia.
It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

E Davide gli disse: Onde vieni? Ed egli gli disse: Io sono scampato dal campo d'Israele.
Y preguntóle David: ¿De dónde vienes? Y él respondió: Heme escapado del campo de Israel.
And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
David said to him, “Where do you come from?” He said to him, “I have escaped out of the camp of Israel.”
E Davide gli disse: Come è andato il fatto? deh! raccontamelo. Ed egli disse: Il popolo è fuggito dalla battaglia, ed anche molti del popolo son caduti, e morti. Saulle anch'egli, e Gionatan, suo figliuolo, son morti.
Y David le dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido? ruégote que me lo digas. Y él respondió: El pueblo huyó de la batalla, y también muchos del pueblo cayeron y son muertos: también Saúl y Jonathán su hijo murieron.
And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
David said to him, “How did it go? Please tell me.” He answered, “The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead. Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.”
E Davide disse al giovane che gli raccontava queste cose: Come sai tu che Saulle, e Gionatan, suo figliuolo, sieno morti?
Y dijo David á aquel mancebo que le daba las nuevas: ¿Cómo sabes que Saúl es muerto, y Jonathán su hijo?
And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
David said to the young man who told him, “How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?”
E il giovane che gli raccontava queste cose, gli disse: Io mi scontrai a caso nel monte di Ghilboa; ed ecco, Saulle era chinato sopra la sua lancia, e già i carri e la gente a cavallo lo stringevano di presso.
Y el mancebo que le daba las nuevas respondió: Casualmente vine al monte de Gilboa, y hallé á Saúl que estaba recostado sobre su lanza, y venían tras él carros y gente de á caballo.
And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

Allora egli, voltosi indietro, mi vide, e mi chiamò. Ed io gli dissi: Eccomi.

Ed egli mi disse: Mettimi, ti prego, il piede addosso, e fammi morire; perciocchè questa armatura di maglia mi ha rattenuto; e tutta la mia vita è ancora in me.
Y él me volvió á decir: Yo te ruego que te pongas sobre mí, y me mates, porque me toman angustias, y toda mi alma está aún en mí.
He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
He said to me, ‘Please stand beside me, and kill me, for anguish has taken hold of me because my life lingers in me.’
Io adunque gli misi il piede addosso, e lo feci morire; perciocchè io sapeva ch'egli non potea vivere, dopo essersi lasciato cadere sopra la sua lancia; poi presi la benda reale ch'egli avea sopra la testa, e la maniglia ch'egli avea al braccio, e le ho recate qua al mio signore.
Yo entonces púseme sobre él, y matélo, porque sabía que no podía vivir después de su caída: y tomé la corona que tenía en su cabeza, y la ajorca que traía en su brazo, y helas traído acá á mi señor.
So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord.

Allora Davide prese i suoi vestimenti, e li stracciò. Il simigliante fecero ancora tutti gli uomini ch'erano con lui;

Poi Davide disse al giovane che gli avea portate le novelle: Onde sei? Ed egli gli disse: Io son figliuolo d'un uomo forestiere Amalechita.

And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

E Davide gli disse: Come non hai temuto di metter la mano ad ammazzar l'Unto del Signore? E Davide chiamò uno de' fanti, e gli disse:
Y díjole David: ¿Cómo no tuviste temor de extender tu mano para matar al ungido de Jehová?
And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?
David said to him, “Why were you not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?”
Vien qua, avventati sopra lui. E colui lo percosse, ed egli morì.
Entonces llamó David uno de los mancebos, y díjole: Llega, y mátalo. Y él lo hirió, y murió.
And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

E Davide gli disse: Sia il tuo sangue sopra il tuo capo; perciocchè la tua bocca stessa ha testimoniato contro a te, dicendo: Io ho fatto morir l'Unto del Signore.
Y David le dijo: Tu sangre sea sobre tu cabeza, pues que tu boca atestiguó contra ti, diciendo: Yo maté al ungido de Jehová.
And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’s anointed.
David said to him, “Your blood be on your head, for your mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I have slain the LORD’s anointed.’”
ALLORA Davide fece questo lamento sopra Saulle, e sopra Gionatan, suo figliuolo;
Y endechó David á Saúl y á Jonathán su hijo con esta endecha.

L'arco di Gionatan non si rivolgea indietro, Che non avesse sparso il sangue degli uccisi, E trafitto il grasso de' prodi, E la spada di Saulle non se ne ritornava a vuoto.
