No terceiro dia, um homem veio do acampamento de Saul com suas roupas rasgadas e com pó sobre sua cabeça. Quando ele chegou até Davi, prostou-se com o rosto no chão.
Y al tercer día acaeció, que vino uno del campo de Saúl, rotos sus vestidos, y tierra sobre su cabeza: y llegando á David, postróse en tierra, é hizo reverencia.
It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

Davi disse-lhe: "De onde vens?". Ele respondeu: "Eu escapei do acampamento de Israel".

And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.
David said to him, “Where do you come from?” He said to him, “I have escaped out of the camp of Israel.”
Disse-lhe Davi: "Por favor, dize-me o que ocorreu". Ele respondeu: "O povo fugiu da batalha. Muitos caíram e muitos estão mortos. Saul e Jônatas, seu filho, também estão mortos".
Y David le dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido? ruégote que me lo digas. Y él respondió: El pueblo huyó de la batalla, y también muchos del pueblo cayeron y son muertos: también Saúl y Jonathán su hijo murieron.
And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
David said to him, “How did it go? Please tell me.” He answered, “The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead. Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.”
Davi disse ao jovem: "Como sabes que Saul e Jônatas, seu filho, estão mortos?".
Y dijo David á aquel mancebo que le daba las nuevas: ¿Cómo sabes que Saúl es muerto, y Jonathán su hijo?
And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
David said to the young man who told him, “How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?”
O jovem respondeu: "Por coincidência, eu estava no Monte Gilboa, e lá Saul estava se apoiando sobre sua lança; carruagens e cavaleiros estavam quase o alcançando.
Y el mancebo que le daba las nuevas respondió: Casualmente vine al monte de Gilboa, y hallé á Saúl que estaba recostado sobre su lanza, y venían tras él carros y gente de á caballo.
And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.

Y él me volvió á decir: Yo te ruego que te pongas sobre mí, y me mates, porque me toman angustias, y toda mi alma está aún en mí.
He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
He said to me, ‘Please stand beside me, and kill me, for anguish has taken hold of me because my life lingers in me.’

And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

Davi lhe disse: "Por que não temeste matar o rei ungido de Yahweh com sua própria mão?".

And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?
David said to him, “Why were you not afraid to stretch out your hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?”
Davi chamou um dos jovens e disse: "Vai e mata-o". Então, aquele homem foi e o atingiu, e o amalequita morreu.
Entonces llamó David uno de los mancebos, y díjole: Llega, y mátalo. Y él lo hirió, y murió.
And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

Davi disse ao amalequita morto: "Teu sangue está sobre tua cabeça, pois tua própria boca testificou contra ti e disse: 'Eu matei o rei ungido de Yahweh'".
Y David le dijo: Tu sangre sea sobre tu cabeza, pues que tu boca atestiguó contra ti, diciendo: Yo maté al ungido de Jehová.
And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD’s anointed.
David said to him, “Your blood be on your head, for your mouth has testified against you, saying, ‘I have slain the LORD’s anointed.’”
Então, Davi cantou esta música fúnebre a respeito de Saul e Jônatas, filho de Saul.
