Al tercer día, sucedió que vino uno del campamento de Saúl, rotos sus vestidos, y tierra sobre su cabeza; y llegando a David, se postró en tierra e hizo reverencia.

It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance.

And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped.

David le dijo: ¿Qué ha sucedido acontecido? Te ruego que me lo digas. Y él respondió: El pueblo huyó de la batalla, y también muchos del pueblo cayeron y son muertos; también Saúl y Jonatán su hijo murieron.
Y David le dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido? ruégote que me lo digas. Y él respondió: El pueblo huyó de la batalla, y también muchos del pueblo cayeron y son muertos: también Saúl y Jonathán su hijo murieron.
And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.
David said to him, “How did it go? Please tell me.” He answered, “The people have fled from the battle, and many of the people also have fallen and are dead. Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also.”
Dijo David a aquel joven que le daba las nuevas: ¿Cómo sabes que han muerto Saúl y Jonatán su hijo?
Y dijo David á aquel mancebo que le daba las nuevas: ¿Cómo sabes que Saúl es muerto, y Jonathán su hijo?
And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead?
David said to the young man who told him, “How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?”
El joven que le daba las nuevas respondió: Casualmente vine al monte de Gilboa, y hallé a Saúl que se apoyaba sobre su lanza, y venían tras él carros y gente de a caballo.
Y el mancebo que le daba las nuevas respondió: Casualmente vine al monte de Gilboa, y hallé á Saúl que estaba recostado sobre su lanza, y venían tras él carros y gente de á caballo.
And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I.

El me volvió a decir: «Te ruego»* que te pongas sobre mí y me mates, porque se ha apoderado de mí la angustia; pues mi vida está aún toda en mí.
Y él me volvió á decir: Yo te ruego que te pongas sobre mí, y me mates, porque me toman angustias, y toda mi alma está aún en mí.
He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me.
He said to me, ‘Please stand beside me, and kill me, for anguish has taken hold of me because my life lingers in me.’

And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

Entonces llamó David a uno de sus hombres, y le dijo: Ve y mátalo. Y él lo hirió, y murió.

And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.
