No mereció ciertamente mi casa a los ojos de Dios, que el Señor hiciese conmigo una alianza eterna, una alianza firme y del todo inmutable. Porque él me ha salvado de todos los peligros; ha cumplido todos mis deseos, no dejándome nada que apetecer.

Estos son los nombres de los valientes del reinado de David: Jesbaam, el que está sentado en cátedra, sapientísimo príncipe entre los tres más distinguidos; aunque parece débil y delicado como el tierno gusanillo que roe el madero, él fue el que mató en un solo choque a ochocientos hombres.
Estos son los nombres de los valientes que tuvo David: El Tachmonita, que se sentaba en cátedra, principal de los capitanes: era éste Adino el Eznita, que mató en una ocasión sobre ochocientos hombres.

y huyendo los israelitas, Eleazar se mantuvo firme, y estuvo hiriendo a los filisteos hasta que, cansado su brazo, se quedó yerto con la espada en la mano. El Señor concedió aquel día una gran victoria. Y la tropa que había huido, volvió para recoger los despojos de los muertos.
Este, levantándose, hirió á los Filisteos hasta que su mano se cansó, y quedósele contraída á la espada. Aquel día Jehová hizo gran salud: y volvióse el pueblo en pos de él solamente á tomar el despojo.

Ya tiempo antes estos tres que eran los principales entre los treinta habían salido a reunirse con David al tiempo de la siega en la cueva de Odollam; estando los filisteos acampados en el valle de los Gigantes.
Y tres de los treinta principales descendieron y vinieron en tiempo de la siega á David á la cueva de Adullam: y el campo de los Filisteos estaba en el valle de Raphaim.

Al punto estos tres valientes atravesaron el campamento de los filisteos, fueron a sacar agua de la cisterna que hay en Betlehem junto a la puerta, y se la trajeron a David; pero David no quiso beberla, sino que hizo libación de ella, o la derramó, en obsequio del Señor,
Entonces los tres valientes rompieron por el campo de los Filisteos, y sacaron agua de la cisterna de Beth-lehem, que estaba á la puerta; y tomaron, y trajéronla á David: mas él no la quiso beber, sino derramóla á Jehová, diciendo:

And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

El segundo fue Banaías, hijo de Joíada, varón fortísimo, de grandes hazañas, natural de Cabseel; éste destrozó a los dos terribles leones de Moab; y en tiempo de una nevada bajó a una cisterna, y allí mató a un fuerte león.

Este mismo quitó la vida a un egipcio, varón de prodigiosa estatura, que tenía una lanza en la mano. Yendo, pues, contra él, con un palo, le arrancó a viva fuerza la lanza de la mano, y lo mató con ella.
