La ira de Yavé volvió a encenderse contra Israel, e incitó a David contra ellos para que dijera: Vé, haz un censo de Israel y de Judá.
Y VOLVIÓ el furor de Jehová á encenderse contra Israel, é incitó á David contra ellos á que dijese: Ve, cuenta á Israel y á Judá.
And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
Again the LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he moved David against them, saying, “Go, count Israel and Judah.”
El rey dijo a Joab, general del ejército, que estaba con él: Recorre todas las tribus de Israel, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, y haz un censo del pueblo, para que yo sepa el número de la gente.
Y dijo el rey á Joab, general del ejército que tenía consigo: Rodea todas las tribus de Israel, desde Dan hasta Beer-seba, y contad el pueblo, para que yo sepa el número de la gente.
For the king said to Joab the captain of the host, which was with him, Go now through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, and number ye the people, that I may know the number of the people.
The king said to Joab the captain of the army, who was with him, “Now go back and forth through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan even to Beersheba, and count the people, that I may know the sum of the people.”
Pero Joab dijo al rey: ¡Yavé tu ʼElohim añada al pueblo 100 veces más, y que mi ʼadón el rey lo vea! Pero, ¿por qué desea esto mi ʼadón el rey?
Y Joab respondió al rey: Añada Jehová tu Dios al pueblo cien veces tanto como son, y que lo vea mi señor el rey; mas ¿para qué quiere esto mi señor el rey?
And Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many soever they be, an hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
Joab said to the king, “Now may the LORD your God add to the people, however many they may be, one hundred times; and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king delight in this thing?”
Pero la palabra del rey prevaleció contra Joab y contra los jefes del ejército. Por tanto Joab y los jefes del ejército salieron de la presencia del rey para hacer el censo del pueblo de Israel.
Empero la palabra del rey pudo más que Joab, y que los capitanes del ejército. Salió pues Joab, con los capitanes del ejército, de delante del rey, para contar el pueblo de Israel.

Cruzaron el Jordán y acamparon en Aroer, a la derecha de la ciudad que está en medio del valle de Gad, junto a Jazer.
Y pasando el Jordán asentaron en Aroer, á la mano derecha de la ciudad que está en medio de la arroyada de Gad y junto á Jazer.
And they passed over Jordan, and pitched in Aroer, on the right side of the city that lieth in the midst of the river of Gad, and toward Jazer:

Después fueron a Galaad y la tierra de los hititas, y de allí a Dan, Haán y los alrededores de Sidón.

Joab entregó el censo del pueblo al rey. Los de Israel fueron 800.000 guerreros que portaban espada, y los de Judá, 500.000 hombres.

Pero después que David hizo contar al pueblo, le remordió el corazón. Así que David dijo a Yavé: Pequé gravemente al hacer esto. Ahora, oh Yavé, te ruego que perdones la iniquidad de tu esclavo, porque obré neciamente.
Y después que David hubo contado el pueblo, punzóle su corazón; y dijo David á Jehová: Yo he pecado gravemente por haber hecho esto; mas ahora, oh Jehová, ruégote que quites el pecado de tu siervo, porque yo he obrado muy neciamente.
And David’s heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.
David’s heart struck him after he had counted the people. David said to the LORD, “I have sinned greatly in that which I have done. But now, the LORD, put away, I beg you, the iniquity of your servant; for I have done very foolishly.”
Cuando David se levantó por la mañana, la Palabra de Yavé vino al profeta Gad, vidente de David:

For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,

Vé y dí a David: Yavé dice: Tres cosas te propongo. Escoge una de ellas, para que Yo te la haga.
Ve, y di á David: Así ha dicho Jehová: Tres cosas te ofrezco: tú te escogerás una de ellas, la cual yo haga.
Go and say unto David, Thus saith the LORD, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
“Go and speak to David, ‘The LORD says, “I offer you three things. Choose one of them, that I may do it to you.”’”
Gad fue a David y le preguntó: ¿Qué vengan siete años de hambruna en tu tierra, qué huyas tres meses de tus adversarios mientras te persiguen, o qué vengan tres días de pestilencia en tu tierra? Considera ahora qué debo responder al que me envía.
Vino pues Gad á David, é intimóle, y díjole: ¿Quieres que te vengan siete años de hambre en tu tierra? ¿ó que huyas tres meses delante de tus enemigos, y que ellos te persigan? ¿ó que tres días haya pestilencia en tu tierra? Piensa ahora, y mira qué responderé al que me ha enviado.
So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’ pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
So Gad came to David, and told him, saying, “Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days’ pestilence in your land? Now answer, and consider what answer I shall return to him who sent me.”
David respondió a Gad: Estoy en gran angustia. Es preferible caer en manos de Yavé que caer en manos de los hombres, porque muchas son las misericordias de Él.
Entonces David dijo á Gad: En grande angustia estoy: ruego que caiga en la mano de Jehová, porque sus miseraciones son muchas, y que no caiga yo en manos de hombres.
And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.
David said to Gad, “I am in distress. Let us fall now into the LORD’s hand, for his mercies are great. Let me not fall into man’s hand.”
Yavé envió la peste sobre Israel desde la mañana hasta el tiempo señalado. Desde Dan hasta Beerseba murieron 70.000 hombres del pueblo.
Y envió Jehová pestilencia á Israel desde la mañana hasta el tiempo señalado: y murieron del pueblo, desde Dan hasta Beer-seba, setenta mil hombres.
So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.

Pero cuando el Ángel extendió su mano hacia Jerusalén para destruirla, Yavé cambió de parecer con respecto a aquel mal y dijo al Ángel que destruía al pueblo: ¡Basta ya! ¡Detén tu mano! El Ángel de Yavé estaba junto a la era de Arauna, el jebuseo.
Y como el ángel extendió su mano sobre Jerusalem para destruirla, Jehová se arrepintió de aquel mal, y dijo al ángel que destruía el pueblo: Basta ahora; detén tu mano. Entonces el ángel de Jehová estaba junto á la era de Arauna Jebuseo.
And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
When the angel stretched out his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD relented of the disaster, and said to the angel who destroyed the people, “It is enough. Now withdraw your hand.” The LORD’s angel was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
David, cuando vio que el Ángel hería al pueblo, habló a Yavé: Yo mismo soy el que pecó. Yo soy el que procedió perversamente. Pero estas ovejas, ¿qué hicieron? ¡Sea ahora tu mano contra mí y contra la casa de mi padre!
Y David dijo á Jehová, cuando vió al ángel que hería al pueblo: Yo pequé, yo hice la maldad: ¿qué hicieron estas ovejas? Ruégote que tu mano se torne contra mí, y contra la casa de mi padre.
And David spake unto the LORD when he saw the angel that smote the people, and said, Lo, I have sinned, and I have done wickedly: but these sheep, what have they done? let thine hand, I pray thee, be against me, and against my father’s house.
David spoke to the LORD when he saw the angel who struck the people, and said, “Behold, I have sinned, and I have done perversely; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be against me, and against my father’s house.”
Gad fue a David aquel día y le dijo: Sube y levanta un altar a Yavé en la era de Arauna el jebuseo.
Y Gad vino á David aquel día, y díjole: Sube, y haz un altar á Jehová en la era de Arauna Jebuseo.
And Gad came that day to David, and said unto him, Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite.
Gad came that day to David and said to him, “Go up, build an altar to the LORD on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”
Subió David según la Palabra que Yavé mandó por medio de Gad.
Y subió David, conforme al dicho de Gad, que Jehová le había mandado.

Arauna vio al rey y sus esclavos que avanzaban hacia él. Arauna salió, se inclinó rostro en tierra ante el rey
Y mirando Arauna, vió al rey y á sus siervos que pasaban á él. Saliendo entonces Arauna, inclinóse delante del rey hacia tierra.
And Araunah looked, and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him: and Araunah went out, and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground.

y preguntó: ¿Por qué viene mi ʼadón el rey a su esclavo? Y David respondió: A comprarte la era para edificar un altar a Yavé a fin de detener la mortandad del pueblo.
Y Arauna dijo: ¿Por qué viene mi señor el rey á su siervo? Y David respondió: Para comprar de ti la era, para edificar altar á Jehová, á fin de que la mortandad cese del pueblo.
And Araunah said, Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant? And David said, To buy the threshingfloor of thee, to build an altar unto the LORD, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” David said, “To buy your threshing floor, to build an altar to the LORD, that the plague may be stopped from afflicting the people.”
Arauna respondió a David: Tómala y ofrezca mi ʼadón el rey lo que le parezca bien. ¡Aquí están los becerros para el holocausto, los trillos y los yugos de los bueyes para leña!
Y Arauna dijo á David: Tome y sacrifique mi señor el rey lo que bien le pareciere; he aquí bueyes para el holocausto; y trillos y otros pertrechos de bueyes para leña:
And Araunah said unto David, Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take and offer up what seems good to him. Behold, the cattle for the burnt offering, and the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood.
¡Todo, oh rey, lo da Arauna al rey! Arauna también dijo al rey: ¡Yavé tu ʼElohim te acepte!
Todo lo da como un rey Arauna al rey. Luego dijo Arauna al rey: Jehová tu Dios te sea propicio.
All these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, The LORD thy God accept thee.
All this, O king, does Araunah give to the king.” Araunah said to the king, “May the LORD your God accept you.”
Pero el rey dijo a Arauna: No, ciertamente te lo compraré por precio, pues no ofreceré holocaustos a Yavé mi ʼElohim que no me cuesten algo. Así David compró la era y los becerros por 5,5 kilogramos de plata.
Y el rey dijo á Arauna: No, sino por precio te lo compraré; porque no ofreceré á Jehová mi Dios holocaustos por nada. Entonces David compró la era y los bueyes por cincuenta siclos de plata.
And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
The king said to Araunah, “No, but I will most certainly buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt offerings to the LORD my God which cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
Entonces David edificó allí un altar a Yavé y ofreció holocaustos y sacrificios de paz. Así Yavé fue conmovido por la oración a favor de la tierra, y la plaga de Israel cesó.
Y edificó allí David un altar á Jehová, y sacrificó holocaustos y pacíficos; y Jehová se aplacó con la tierra, y cesó la plaga de Israel.
And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the LORD was intreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.
