2 Samuel 3

La guerra entre los partidarios de Saúl y los de David se prolongó por mucho tiempo. David se hacía cada vez más fuerte, mientras que la casa de Saúl se iba debilitando.

Y HUBO larga guerra entre la casa de Saúl y la casa de David; mas David se iba fortificando, y la casa de Saúl iba en disminución.

Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

Now there was long war between Saul’s house and David’s house. David grew stronger and stronger, but Saul’s house grew weaker and weaker.

Estos son los hijos que le nacieron a David en Hebrón: su hijo mayor fue Amnón, cuya madre era Ahinoam la jezreelita;

el segundo fue Quileab, hijo de Abigail, la viuda de Nabal el de Carmelo; el tercero fue Absalón, hijo de Maaca, que era hija de Talmai, rey de Gesur;

And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;

el cuarto fue Adonías, hijo de Haguit; el quinto fue Sefatías, hijo de Abital;

Mientras duraba la guerra entre los bandos de Saúl y de David, Abner acumulaba más poder entre los seguidores de Saúl.

Y como había guerra entre la casa de Saúl y la de David, aconteció que Abner se esforzaba por la casa de Saúl.

And it came to pass, while there was war between the house of Saul and the house of David, that Abner made himself strong for the house of Saul.

While there was war between Saul’s house and David’s house, Abner made himself strong in Saul’s house.

Saúl había tenido una concubina llamada Rizpa, hija de Aja. Un día, Isboset le reclamó a Abner: ¿Por qué te acostaste con la concubina de mi padre?

Y había Saúl tenido una concubina que se llamaba Rispa, hija de Aja. Y dijo Is-boseth á Abner: ¿Por qué has entrado á la concubina de mi padre?

And Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah: and Ish-bosheth said to Abner, Wherefore hast thou gone in unto my father’s concubine?

Now Saul had a concubine, whose name was Rizpah, the daughter of Aiah; and Ishbosheth said to Abner, “Why have you gone in to my father’s concubine?”

Abner se puso furioso por el reclamo de Isboset y le respondió: ¿Acaso soy yo un traidor al servicio de Judá? Hasta hoy he sido fiel a la familia de tu padre Saúl, a sus hermanos y a sus amigos, y no te he entregado en manos de David. ¡Y ahora me vienes con reclamos por lo que pasó con esa mujer!

Y enojóse Abner en gran manera por las palabras de Is-boseth, y dijo: ¿Soy yo cabeza de perros respecto de Judá? Yo he hecho hoy misericordia con la casa de Saúl tu padre, con sus hermanos, y con sus amigos, y no te he entregado en las manos de David: ¿y tú me haces hoy cargo del pecado de esta mujer?

Then was Abner very wroth for the words of Ish-bosheth, and said, Am I a dog’s head, which against Judah do shew kindness this day unto the house of Saul thy father, to his brethren, and to his friends, and have not delivered thee into the hand of David, that thou chargest me to day with a fault concerning this woman?

Then Abner was very angry about Ishbosheth’s words, and said, “Am I a dog’s head that belongs to Judah? Today I show kindness to your father Saul’s house, to his brothers, and to his friends, and have not delivered you into the hand of David; and yet you charge me today with a fault concerning this woman!

¡Que Dios me castigue duramente si no ayudo a David a conseguir lo que el Señor le prometió bajo juramento!

Así haga Dios á Abner y así le añada, si como ha jurado Jehová á David no hiciere yo así con él,

So do God to Abner, and more also, except, as the LORD hath sworn to David, even so I do to him;

God do so to Abner, and more also, if, as the LORD has sworn to David, I don’t do even so to him:

Voy a quitarle el reino a la familia de Saúl y a establecer el trono de David sobre todo Israel y Judá, desde Dan hasta Berseba.

Trasladando el reino de la casa de Saúl, y confirmando el trono de David sobre Israel y sobre Judá, desde Dan hasta Beer-sebah.

To translate the kingdom from the house of Saul, and to set up the throne of David over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beer-sheba.

to transfer the kingdom from Saul’s house, and to set up David’s throne over Israel and over Judah, from Dan even to Beersheba.”

Isboset no se atrevió a decirle ni una sola palabra más, porque le tenía mucho miedo a Abner.

Y él no pudo responder palabra á Abner, porque le temía.

And he could not answer Abner a word again, because he feared him.

He could not answer Abner another word, because he was afraid of him.

Entonces Abner envió mensajeros a David para decirle de su parte: “¿De quién es esta tierra? Haz un pacto conmigo, y yo te ayudaré para que todo Israel se ponga de tu parte”.

Y envió Abner mensajeros á David de su parte, diciendo: ¿Cúya es la tierra? Y que le dijesen: Haz alianza conmigo, y he aquí que mi mano será contigo para volver á ti á todo Israel.

And Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.

Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, “Whose is the land?” and saying, “Make your alliance with me, and behold, my hand will be with you to bring all Israel around to you.”

Está bien respondió David. Haré un pacto contigo, pero con una condición: no te presentarás ante mí si no traes contigo a Mical, la hija de Saúl.

Y David dijo: Bien; yo haré contigo alianza: mas una cosa te pido, y es, que no me vengas á ver sin que primero traigas á Michâl la hija de Saúl, cuando vinieres á verme.

And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.

David said, “Good. I will make a treaty with you, but one thing I require of you. That is, you will not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul’s daughter, when you come to see my face.”

Al mismo tiempo, David envió mensajeros a Isboset hijo de Saúl, con esta exigencia: “Entrégame a mi esposa Mical, por la que pagué cien prepucios de filisteos para casarme con ella”.

Después de esto envió David mensajeros á Is-boseth hijo de Saúl, diciendo: Restitúyeme á mi mujer Michâl, la cual yo desposé conmigo por cien prepucios de Filisteos.

And David sent messengers to Ish-bosheth Saul’s son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.

David sent messengers to Ishbosheth, Saul’s son, saying, “Deliver me my wife Michal, whom I was given to marry for one hundred foreskins of the Philistines.”

Isboset mandó que se la quitaran a su esposo Paltiel hijo de Lais.

Entonces Is-boseth envió, y quitóla á su marido Paltiel, hijo de Lais.

And Ish-bosheth sent, and took her from her husband, even from Phaltiel the son of Laish.

Ishbosheth sent and took her from her husband, Paltiel the son of Laish.

Paltiel se fue tras ella llorando por todo el camino, hasta que llegaron a Bahurim. Allí Abner le ordenó: ¡Vete ya, regresa a tu casa! Y él se volvió.

Y su marido fué con ella, siguiéndola y llorando hasta Bahurim. Y díjole Abner: Anda, vuélvete. Entonces él se volvió.

And her husband went with her along weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.

Her husband went with her, weeping as he went, and followed her to Bahurim. Then Abner said to him, “Go! Return!” and he returned.

Luego Abner habló con los ancianos de Israel y les dijo: “Ya desde hace tiempo ustedes querían que David fuera su rey.

And Abner had communication with the elders of Israel, saying, Ye sought for David in times past to be king over you:

¡Pues este es el momento de hacerlo! Porque el Señor ha dicho de David: “Por medio de mi siervo David salvaré a mi pueblo Israel del poder de los filisteos y de todos sus enemigos””.

Ahora, pues, hacedlo; porque Jehová ha hablado á David, diciendo: Por la mano de mi siervo David libraré á mi pueblo Israel de mano de los Filisteos, y de mano de todos sus enemigos.

Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.

Now then do it! For the LORD has spoken of David, saying, ‘By the hand of my servant David, I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.’”

Abner habló también con los de la tribu de Benjamín. Después fue a Hebrón para informarle a David personalmente que Israel y los de Benjamín estaban de acuerdo con él.

Y habló también Abner á los de Benjamín: y fué también Abner á Hebrón á decir á David todo el parecer de los de Israel y de toda la casa de Benjamín.

And Abner also spake in the ears of Benjamin: and Abner went also to speak in the ears of David in Hebron all that seemed good to Israel, and that seemed good to the whole house of Benjamin.

Abner llegó a Hebrón acompañado de veinte hombres, y David les ofreció un gran banquete.

Vino pues Abner á David en Hebrón, y con él veinte hombres: y David hizo banquete á Abner y á los que con él habían venido.

So Abner came to David to Hebron, and twenty men with him. And David made Abner and the men that were with him a feast.

Abner le dijo a David: Permítame su Majestad ir ahora mismo a reunir a todo Israel para que hagan un pacto con usted, y así usted reine sobre todo lo que su corazón desee. David despidió a Abner, y él se fue tranquilo.

Y dijo Abner á David: Yo me levantaré é iré, y juntaré á mi señor el rey á todo Israel, para que hagan contigo alianza, y tú reines como deseas. David despidió luego á Abner, y él se fué en paz.

And Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.

Abner said to David, “I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may reign over all that your soul desires.” David sent Abner away; and he went in peace.

Poco después, Joab y los soldados de David regresaron de una incursión trayendo un gran botín. Abner ya no estaba con David en Hebrón, porque David lo había despedido y él se había ido en paz.

Y he aquí los siervos de David y Joab, que venían del campo, y traían consigo gran presa. Mas Abner no estaba con David en Hebrón, que ya lo había él despedido, y él se había ido en paz.

And, behold, the servants of David and Joab came from pursuing a troop, and brought in a great spoil with them: but Abner was not with David in Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.

Behold, David’s servants and Joab came from a raid and brought in a great plunder with them; but Abner was not with David in Hebron, for he had sent him away, and he had gone in peace.

Cuando llegó Joab con todo su ejército, le informaron: “Abner hijo de Ner vino a ver al rey, y el rey lo dejó irse en paz”.

Y luego que llegó Joab y todo el ejército que con él estaba, fué dado aviso á Joab, diciendo: Abner hijo de Ner ha venido al rey, y él le ha despedido, y se fué en paz.

When Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told Joab, saying, Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.

When Joab and all the army who was with him had come, they told Joab, “Abner the son of Ner came to the king, and he has sent him away, and he has gone in peace.”

Entonces Joab fue a hablar con el rey y le dijo: ¿Pero qué ha hecho usted? ¡Abner vino a verlo! ¿Cómo es posible que lo haya dejado irse así de fácil?

Entonces Joab vino al rey, y díjole: ¿Qué has hecho? He aquí habíase venido Abner á ti: ¿por qué pues lo dejaste que se fuése?

Then Joab came to the king, and said, What hast thou done? behold, Abner came unto thee; why is it that thou hast sent him away, and he is quite gone?

Then Joab came to the king and said, “What have you done? Behold, Abner came to you. Why is it that you have sent him away, and he is already gone?

Usted conoce bien a Abner hijo de Ner. ¡Vino a engañarlo, a espiar todos sus movimientos y a enterarse de todo lo que usted hace!

¿Sabes tú que Abner hijo de Ner ha venido para engañarte, y á saber tu salida y tu entrada, y por entender todo lo que tú haces?

Thou knowest Abner the son of Ner, that he came to deceive thee, and to know thy going out and thy coming in, and to know all that thou doest.

You know Abner the son of Ner. He came to deceive you, and to know your going out and your coming in, and to know all that you do.”

En cuanto Joab salió de hablar con David, envió mensajeros tras Abner sin que David lo supiera, y lo hicieron volver desde el pozo de Sira.

Y saliéndose Joab de con David, envió mensajeros tras Abner, los cuales le volvieron desde el pozo de Sira, sin saberlo David.

And when Joab was come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, which brought him again from the well of Sirah: but David knew it not.

When Joab had come out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, and they brought him back from the well of Sirah; but David didn’t know it.

Cuando Abner regresó a Hebrón, Joab lo llevó aparte, hacia un lado de la puerta de la ciudad, como para hablar con él en privado. Allí lo apuñaló en el vientre y lo mató, para vengar la muerte de su hermano Asael.

Y como Abner volvió á Hebrón, apartólo Joab al medio de la puerta, hablando con él blandamente, y allí le hirió por la quinta costilla, á causa de la muerte de Asael su hermano, y murió.

And when Abner was returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

When Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the middle of the gate to speak with him quietly, and struck him there in the body, so that he died for the blood of Asahel his brother.

Cuando David se enteró, declaró: “Ante el Señor, mi reino y yo somos inocentes por siempre de la muerte de Abner hijo de Ner.

And afterward when David heard it, he said, I and my kingdom are guiltless before the LORD for ever from the blood of Abner the son of Ner:

¡Que la culpa recaiga sobre Joab y sobre toda su familia! ¡Que nunca falte en su descendencia quien sufra de flujos, o de lepra, o que sea un inválido, o que muera a espada, o que pase hambre!”.

Caiga sobre la cabeza de Joab, y sobre toda la casa de su padre; que nunca falte de la casa de Joab quien padezca flujo, ni leproso, ni quien ande con báculo, ni quien muera á cuchillo, ni quien tenga falta de pan.

Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father’s house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that hath an issue, or that is a leper, or that leaneth on a staff, or that falleth on the sword, or that lacketh bread.

Let it fall on the head of Joab and on all his father’s house. Let there not fail from the house of Joab one who has a discharge, or who is a leper, or who leans on a staff, or who falls by the sword, or who lacks bread.”

Joab y su hermano Abisai mataron a Abner porque él había matado a su hermano Asael en la batalla de Gabaón.

Joab pues y Abisai su hermano mataron á Abner, porque él había muerto á Asael, hermano de ellos en la batalla de Gabaón.

So Joab and Abishai his brother slew Abner, because he had slain their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.

Entonces David les ordenó a Joab y a todos los que estaban con él: “Rasguen su ropa, vístanse de luto y lloren por Abner”. El propio rey David marchó detrás de la camilla fúnebre.

Entonces dijo David á Joab, y á todo el pueblo que con él estaba: Romped vuestros vestidos, y ceñíos de sacos, y haced duelo delante de Abner. Y el rey iba detrás del féretro.

And David said to Joab, and to all the people that were with him, Rend your clothes, and gird you with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And king David himself followed the bier.

David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, “Tear your clothes, and clothe yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn in front of Abner.” King David followed the bier.

Enterraron a Abner en Hebrón. El rey lloró a gritos ante la tumba de Abner, y todo el pueblo lloró con él.

Y sepultaron á Abner en Hebrón: y alzando el rey su voz, lloró junto al sepulcro de Abner; y lloró también todo el pueblo.

And they buried Abner in Hebron: and the king lifted up his voice, and wept at the grave of Abner; and all the people wept.

El rey compuso este lamento por Abner: “¿Tenía que morir Abner como muere un insensato?

Y endechando el rey al mismo Abner, decía: ¿Murió Abner como muere un villano?

And the king lamented over Abner, and said, Died Abner as a fool dieth?

The king lamented for Abner, and said, “Should Abner die as a fool dies?

No tenías las manos atadas ni los pies encadenados. Caíste como quien cae a manos de criminales”. Y todo el pueblo volvió a llorar por él.

Tus manos no estaban atadas, ni tus pies ligados con grillos: caíste como los que caen delante de malos hombres. Y todo el pueblo volvió á llorar sobre él.

Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou. And all the people wept again over him.

Your hands weren’t bound, and your feet weren’t put into fetters. As a man falls before the children of iniquity, so you fell.” All the people wept again over him.

Luego todos trataron de convencer a David de que comiera algo antes de que terminara el día, pero David juró: “¡Que Dios me castigue duramente si pruebo bocado antes de que se ponga el sol!”.

Y como todo el pueblo viniese á dar de comer pan á David siendo aún de día, David juró, diciendo: Así me haga Dios y así me añada, si antes que se ponga el sol gustare yo pan, ú otra cualquier cosa.

And when all the people came to cause David to eat meat while it was yet day, David sware, saying, So do God to me, and more also, if I taste bread, or ought else, till the sun be down.

All the people came to urge David to eat bread while it was yet day; but David swore, saying, “God do so to me, and more also, if I taste bread or anything else, until the sun goes down.”

Al ver esto, el pueblo quedó satisfecho, pues todo lo que el rey hacía les parecía bien.

Súpolo así todo el pueblo, y plugo en sus ojos; porque todo lo que el rey hacía parecía bien en ojos de todo el pueblo.

And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: as whatsoever the king did pleased all the people.

Así todo el pueblo y todo Israel comprendieron ese día que el rey no había tenido nada que ver con la muerte de Abner hijo de Ner.

For all the people and all Israel understood that day that it was not of the king to slay Abner the son of Ner.

El rey les dijo a sus oficiales: ¿No se dan cuenta de que hoy ha caído en Israel un gran príncipe?

Y el rey dijo á sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que ha caído hoy en Israel un príncipe, y grande?

And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?

The king said to his servants, “Don’t you know that a prince and a great man has fallen today in Israel?

Aunque soy el rey ungido, hoy me siento débil ante estos hijos de Sarvia, que son tan violentos. ¡Que el Señor le dé su merecido al que hace lo malo!”.

Que yo ahora aun soy tierno rey ungido; y estos hombres, los hijos de Sarvia, muy duros me son: Jehová dé el pago al que mal hace, conforme á su malicia.

And I am this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah be too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness.

I am weak today, though anointed king. These men, the sons of Zeruiah are too hard for me. May the LORD reward the evildoer according to his wickedness.”
