2 Samuel 5

Después de esto, todas las tribus de Israel fueron a Hebrón y le dijeron a David: «Aquí estamos, nosotros somos sus hermanos de sangre.

Y VINIERON todas las tribus de Israel á David en Hebrón, y hablaron, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos tus huesos y tu carne.

Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

Además, sabemos muy bien que, aunque Saúl era nuestro rey, realmente usted era el que iba al frente del ejército de Israel cuando teníamos que enfrentar a nuestros enemigos. También estamos enterados de que el Señor le ha dicho que usted será el pastor y rey de este pueblo».

Y aun ayer y antes, cuando Saúl reinaba sobre nosotros, tú sacabas y volvías á Israel. Además Jehová te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás á mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás sobre Israel príncipe.

Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be a captain over Israel.

In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was you who led Israel out and in. The LORD said to you, ‘You will be shepherd of my people Israel, and you will be prince over Israel.’”

Entonces David hizo un pacto delante del Señor con los jefes de Israel en Hebrón, y ellos lo coronaron rey de Israel.

Vinieron pues todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y el rey David hizo con ellos alianza en Hebrón delante de Jehová; y ungieron á David por rey sobre Israel.

So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD: and they anointed David king over Israel.

Cuando David comenzó a reinar sobre Judá, en Hebrón, tenía treinta años. Ya llevaba siete años y medio como rey de Judá, cuando los de Israel lo coronaron también como rey de ellos. Así que, después de esto, reinó treinta y tres años más sobre todo Israel y Judá, y lo hizo desde Jerusalén. De modo que en total reinó unos cuarenta años.

Era David de treinta años cuando comenzó á reinar, y reinó cuarenta años.

En Hebrón reinó sobre Judá siete años y seis meses: y en Jerusalem reinó treinta y tres años sobre todo Israel y Judá.

David dirigió sus ejércitos hacia Jerusalén para luchar contra los jebuseos que vivían allí. Estos estaban muy seguros de que David no podría apoderarse de la ciudad. Por eso le dijeron: «Jamás podrás apoderarte de nuestra ciudad. Para derrotarte nos basta un ejército de ciegos y cojos».

Entonces el rey y los suyos fueron á Jerusalem al Jebuseo que habitaba en la tierra; el cual habló á David, diciendo: Tú no entrarás acá, si no echares los ciegos y los cojos; diciendo: No entrará acá David.

And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.

The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “The blind and the lame will keep you out of here,” thinking, “David can’t come in here.”

Pero David los derrotó y capturó la ciudadela de Sion, que luego se llamó la Ciudad de David.

Cuando el mensaje insultante de los jebuseos llegó a oídos de David, les dijo a sus soldados: «¡Vayan y ataquen a esos jebuseos! ¡Suban por el canal del agua y podrán matar a esos ciegos y cojos que tanto aborrezco!». Este es el origen del dicho: «Ni los ciegos ni los cojos pueden entrar al templo».

Y dijo David aquel día: ¿Quién llegará hasta las canales, y herirá al Jebuseo, y á los cojos y ciegos, á los cuales el alma de David aborrece? Por esto se dijo: Ciego ni cojo no entrará en casa.

And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.

David said on that day, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites, let him go up to the watercourse and strike those lame and blind, who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame can’t come into the house.”

David estableció su sede en la fortaleza de Sion, a la cual llamó Ciudad de David. Además, le construyó alrededor una muralla, desde Milo hasta el palacio.

Y David moró en la fortaleza, y púsole por nombre la Ciudad de David: y edificó alrededor, desde Millo para adentro.

So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.

David, pues, se fortalecía cada vez más, porque el Señor, Dios Todopoderoso, estaba con él.

Y David iba creciendo y aumentándose, y Jehová Dios de los ejércitos era con él.

And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.

El rey Hiram de Tiro envió cedro, carpinteros y albañiles para edificarle un palacio a David.

Entonces David pudo comprender que el Señor lo estaba confirmando como rey, y había bendecido mucho su reinado por amor a Israel, su pueblo escogido.

Y entendió David que Jehová le había confirmado por rey sobre Israel, y que había ensalzado su reino por amor de su pueblo Israel.

And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.

Después de trasladarse de Hebrón a Jerusalén, David tomó otras esposas y concubinas, y tuvo muchos hijos e hijas.

And David took him more concubines and wives out of Jerusalem, after he was come from Hebron: and there were yet sons and daughters born to David.

Cuando los filisteos se enteraron de que David había sido coronado rey de Israel, trataron de capturarlo; pero David lo supo y se refugió en la ciudadela.

Y oyendo los Filisteos que habían ungido á David por rey sobre Israel, todos los Filisteos subieron á buscar á David: lo cual como David oyó, vino á la fortaleza.

But when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines came up to seek David; and David heard of it, and went down to the hold.

Los filisteos llegaron y se esparcieron por el valle de Refayin.

Y vinieron los Filisteos, y extendiéronse por el valle de Raphaim.

Por eso, David consultó al Señor: ―¿Iré y lucharé contra ellos? ¿Me usarás para derrotarlos? ―Sí, ve, porque yo los entregaré en tus manos —le respondió el Señor.

Entonces consultó David á Jehová, diciendo: ¿Iré contra los Filisteos? ¿los entregarás en mis manos? Y Jehová respondió á David: Ve, porque ciertamente entregaré los Filisteos en tus manos.

And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

David inquired of the LORD, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hand?” The LORD said to David, “Go up; for I will certainly deliver the Philistines into your hand.”

Entonces David salió y luchó contra los filisteos en Baal Perasín, y los derrotó. En esa ocasión David exclamó: «El Señor me abrió camino para derrotar a mis enemigos, tal como una corriente de agua se abre paso a través del valle». Por eso, a ese lugar se le dio el nombre de Baal Perasín.

Y vino David á Baal-perasim, y allí los venció David, y dijo: Rompió Jehová mis enemigos delante de mí, como quien rompe aguas. Y por esto llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Baal-perasim.

And David came to Baal-perazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

David came to Baal Perazim, and David struck them there. Then he said, “The LORD has broken my enemies before me, like the breach of waters.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.

Luego David y sus hombres se apoderaron de muchos ídolos que los filisteos habían abandonado al huir.

Y dejaron allí sus ídolos, los cuales quemó David y los suyos.

And there they left their images, and David and his men burned them.

They left their images there, and David and his men took them away.

Pero los filisteos regresaron, y nuevamente se esparcieron por el valle de Refayin.

Y los Filisteos tornaron á venir, y extendiéronse en el valle de Raphaim.

Cuando David le preguntó al Señor qué tenía que hacer, él le respondió: ―No los ataques de frente, sino rodéalos y atácalos por detrás, cuando llegues a los árboles de bálsamo.

Y consultando David á Jehová, él le respondió: No subas; mas rodéalos, y vendrás á ellos por delante de los morales:

And when David enquired of the LORD, he said, Thou shalt not go up; but fetch a compass behind them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.

When David inquired of the LORD, he said, “You shall not go up. Circle around behind them, and attack them in front of the mulberry trees.

Cuando oigas ruido como de pies que marchan por las copas de los bálsamos, atácalos, porque eso significa que el Señor te ha preparado el camino para que derrotes a los filisteos.

Y cuando oyeres un estruendo que irá por las copas de los morales, entonces te moverás; porque Jehová saldrá delante de ti á herir el campo de los Filisteos.

And let it be, when thou hearest the sound of a going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt bestir thyself: for then shall the LORD go out before thee, to smite the host of the Philistines.

When you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then stir yourself up; for then the LORD has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.”

David hizo lo que el Señor le había indicado, y destruyó a los filisteos desde Gabaón hasta Guézer.

Y David lo hizo así, como Jehová se lo había mandado; é hirió á los Filisteos desde Gabaa hasta llegar á Gaza.

And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to Gazer.
