Un día David preguntó si quedaba algún descendiente de Saúl, pues quería mostrarle misericordia, de acuerdo con lo prometido a su amigo Jonatán.
Y DIJO David: ¿Ha quedado alguno de la casa de Saúl, á quien haga yo misericordia por amor de Jonathán?
And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?
David said, “Is there yet any who is left of Saul’s house, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”
Al enterarse de que había un hombre llamado Siba, que había sido uno de los siervos de Saúl, lo mandó a llamar. ―¿Eres tú Siba? —le preguntó el rey. ―Sí, su siervo —respondió el hombre.
Y había un siervo de la casa de Saúl, que se llamaba Siba, al cual como llamaron que viniese á David, el rey le dijo: ¿Eres tú Siba? Y él respondió: Tu siervo.
And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.
There was of Saul’s house a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him to David; and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” He said, “I am your servant.”
El rey entonces le preguntó: ―¿Ha quedado alguien vivo de la familia de Saúl? Si es así, quiero cumplir un voto, mostrándome misericordioso con él. ―Sí, mi rey —respondió Siba—, aún vive un hijo de Jonatán, el cual es tullido de los dos pies.
Y el rey dijo: ¿No ha quedado nadie de la casa de Saúl, á quien haga yo misericordia de Dios? Y Siba respondió al rey: Aun ha quedado un hijo de Jonathán, lisiado de los pies.
And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may shew the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.
The king said, “Is there not yet any of Saul’s house, that I may show the kindness of God to him?” Ziba said to the king, “Jonathan still has a son, who is lame in his feet.”
―¿Dónde vive? —volvió a preguntar el rey. ―En Lo Debar, en la casa de Maquir hijo de Amiel —respondió Siba.
Entonces el rey le dijo: ¿Y ése dónde está? Y Siba respondió al rey: He aquí, está en casa de Machîr hijo de Amiel, en Lodebar.
And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar.
The king said to him, “Where is he?” Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo Debar.”
De inmediato, el rey David envió por Mefiboset hijo de Jonatán y nieto de Saúl. Mefiboset llegó y se inclinó delante del rey David, quien le preguntó: ―¿Eres tú Mefiboset? ―Sí, aquí está su siervo —le respondió.
Y envió el rey David, y tomólo de casa de Machîr hijo de Amiel, de Lodebar.
Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.
Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo Debar.

Y venido Mephi-boseth, hijo de Jonathán hijo de Saúl, á David, postróse sobre su rostro, é hizo reverencia. Y dijo David: Mephi-boseth. Y él respondió: He aquí tu siervo.
Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!
Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, fell on his face, and showed respect. David said, “Mephibosheth?” He answered, “Behold, your servant!”
David le dijo: ―No tengas miedo. Te he enviado a buscar porque quiero ayudarte, tal como se lo prometí a tu padre Jonatán. Te devolveré todas las tierras que pertenecieron a tu abuelo Saúl, y de aquí en adelante vivirás en mi palacio.
Y díjole David: No tengas temor, porque yo á la verdad haré contigo misericordia por amor de Jonathán tu padre, y te haré volver todas las tierras de Saúl tu padre; y tú comerás siempre pan á mi mesa.
And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.
David said to him, “Don’t be afraid, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your father. You will eat bread at my table continually.”
Mefiboset entonces se inclinó de nuevo delante del rey, y dijo: ―¿Debe el rey mostrar tanta bondad con un perro muerto como yo?
Y él inclinándose, dijo: ¿Quién es tu siervo, para que mires á un perro muerto como yo?
And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?
He bowed down, and said, “What is your servant, that you should look at such a dead dog as I am?”
El rey llamó a Siba, el siervo de Saúl, y le dijo: ―He dado al nieto de tu amo todo lo que pertenecía a Saúl y a su familia.
Entonces el rey llamó á Siba, siervo de Saúl, y díjole: Todo lo que fué de Saúl y de toda su casa, yo lo he dado al hijo de tu señor.
Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.
Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said to him, “All that belonged to Saul and to all his house I have given to your master’s son.
Tú y tus hijos y tus sirvientes le trabajarán la tierra a fin de proporcionar alimento a su familia. Pero él vivirá aquí conmigo y se sentará a mi mesa. Siba, que tenía quince hijos y veinte siervos, contestó: ―Mi rey, haré todo lo que usted me ha ordenado. Desde aquel momento, Mefiboset comió regularmente con el rey David, como si fuera uno de sus hijos.
Tú pues le labrarás las tierras, tú con tus hijos, y tus siervos, y encerrarás los frutos, para que el hijo de tu señor tenga con qué mantenerse; y Mephi-boseth el hijo de tu señor comerá siempre pan á mi mesa. Y tenía Siba quince hijos y veinte siervos.
Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
Till the land for him—you, your sons, and your servants. Bring in the harvest, that your master’s son may have bread to eat; but Mephibosheth your master’s son will always eat bread at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

Y respondió Siba al rey: Conforme á todo lo que ha mandado mi señor el rey á su siervo, así lo hará tu siervo. Mephi-boseth, dijo el rey, comerá á mi mesa, como uno de los hijos del rey.
Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.
Then Ziba said to the king, “According to all that my lord the king commands his servant, so your servant will do.” So Mephibosheth ate at the king’s table like one of the king’s sons.
Mefiboset tenía un hijo pequeño llamado Micaías. Todos los de la casa de Siba quedaron al servicio de Mefiboset,
Y tenía Mephi-boseth un hijo pequeño, que se llamaba Michâ. Y toda la familia de la casa de Siba eran siervos de Mephi-boseth.
And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.

pero Mefiboset, que era tullido de ambos pies, se fue a vivir al palacio real en Jerusalén, y siempre comía en la mesa del rey.
Y moraba Mephi-boseth en Jerusalem, porque comía siempre á la mesa del rey: y era cojo de ambos pies.
So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king’s table; and was lame on both his feet.
So Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, for he ate continually at the king’s table. He was lame in both his feet.
