1Wir bitten euch aber, Brüder, wegen der Ankunft unseres Herrn Jesus Christus und unseres Versammeltwerdens zu ihm hin,
2daß ihr nicht schnell erschüttert werdet in der Gesinnung, noch erschreckt, weder durch Geist, noch durch Wort, noch durch Brief als durch uns, als ob der Tag des Herrn da wäre.
3Laßt euch von niemand auf irgend eine Weise verführen, denn dieser Tag kommt nicht, es sei denn, daß zuerst der Abfall komme und geoffenbart worden sei der Mensch der Sünde, der Sohn des Verderbens,
4welcher widersteht und sich selbst erhöht über alles, was Gott heißt oder ein Gegenstand der Verehrung ist, so daß er sich in den Tempel Gottes setzt und sich selbst darstellt, daß er Gott sei.
5Erinnert ihr euch nicht, daß ich dies zu euch sagte, als ich noch bei euch war?
6Und jetzt wisset ihr, was zurückhält, daß er zu seiner Zeit geoffenbart werde.
7Denn schon ist das Geheimnis der Gesetzlosigkeit wirksam; nur ist jetzt der, welcher zurückhält, bis er aus dem Wege ist,
8und dann wird der Gesetzlose geoffenbart werden, den der Herr Jesus verzehren wird durch den Hauch seines Mundes und vernichten durch die Erscheinung seiner Ankunft,
9ihn, dessen Ankunft nach der Wirksamkeit des Satans ist, in aller Macht und allen Zeichen und Wundern der Lüge
10und in allem Betrug der Ungerechtigkeit denen, die verloren gehen, darum daß sie die Liebe zur Wahrheit nicht annahmen, damit sie errettet würden.
11Und deshalb sendet ihnen Gott eine wirksame Kraft des Irrwahns, daß sie der Lüge glauben,
12auf daß alle gerichtet werden, die der Wahrheit nicht geglaubt, sondern Wohlgefallen gefunden haben an der Ungerechtigkeit.
13Wir aber sind schuldig, Gott allezeit für euch zu danken, vom Herrn geliebte Brüder, daß Gott euch von Anfang erwählt hat zur Seligkeit in Heiligung des Geistes und im Glauben an die Wahrheit,
14wozu er euch berufen hat durch unser Evangelium, zur Erlangung der Herrlichkeit unseres Herrn Jesus Christus.
15Also nun, Brüder, stehet fest und haltet die Überlieferungen, die ihr gelehrt worden seid, sei es durch Wort oder durch unseren Brief.
16Er selbst aber, unser Herr Jesus Christus, und unser Gott und Vater, der uns geliebt und uns ewigen Trost und gute Hoffnung gegeben hat durch die Gnade,
17tröste eure Herzen und befestige [euch] in jedem guten Werk und Wort.

1EMPERO os rogamos, hermanos, cuanto á la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y nuestro recogimiento á él,
2Que no os mováis fácilmente de vuestro sentimiento, ni os conturbéis ni por espíritu, ni por palabra, ni por carta como nuestra, como que el día del Señor esté cerca.
3No os engañe nadie en ninguna manera; porque no vendrá sin que venga antes la apostasía, y se manifieste el hombre de pecado, el hijo de perdición,
4Oponiéndose, y levantándose contra todo lo que se llama Dios, ó que se adora; tanto que se asiente en el templo de Dios como Dios, haciéndose parecer Dios.
5¿No os acordáis que cuando estaba todavía con vosotros, os decía esto?
6Y ahora vosotros sabéis lo que impide, para que á su tiempo se manifieste.
7Porque ya está obrando el misterio de iniquidad: solamente espera hasta que sea quitado de en medio el que ahora impide;
8Y entonces será manifestado aquel inicuo, al cual el Señor matará con el espíritu de su boca, y destruirá con el resplandor de su venida;
9A aquel inicuo, cuyo advenimiento es según operación de Satanás, con grande potencia, y señales, y milagros mentirosos,
10Y con todo engaño de iniquidad en los que perecen; por cuanto no recibieron el amor de la verdad para ser salvos.
11Por tanto, pues, les envía Dios operación de error, para que crean á la mentira;
12Para que sean condenados todos los que no creyeron á la verdad, antes consintieron á la iniquidad.
13Mas nosotros debemos dar siempre gracias á Dios por vosotros, hermanos amados del Señor, de que Dios os haya escogido desde el principio para salud, por la santificación del Espíritu y fe de la verdad:
14A lo cual os llamó por nuestro evangelio, para alcanzar la gloria de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
15Así que, hermanos, estad firmes, y retened la doctrina que habéis aprendido, sea por palabra, ó por carta nuestra.
16Y el mismo Señor nuestro Jesucristo, y Dios y Padre nuestro, el cual nos amó, y nos dió consolación eterna, y buena esperanza por gracia,
17Consuele vuestros corazones, y os confirme en toda buena palabra y obra.

1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

1Now, brothers, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we ask you
2not to be quickly shaken in your mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter as if from us, saying that the day of Christ has already come.
3Let no one deceive you in any way. For it will not be unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of destruction.
4He opposes and exalts himself against all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself up as God.
5Don’t you remember that when I was still with you, I told you these things?
6Now you know what is restraining him, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.
7For the mystery of lawlessness already works. Only there is one who restrains now, until he is taken out of the way.
8Then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will kill with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the manifestation of his coming;
9even he whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10and with all deception of wickedness for those who are being lost, because they didn’t receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11Because of this, God sends them a powerful delusion, that they should believe a lie,
12that they all might be judged who didn’t believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth,
14to which he called you through our Good News, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15So then, brothers, stand firm and hold the traditions which you were taught by us, whether by word or by letter.
16Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace,
17comfort your hearts and establish you in every good work and word.
