Timotheus, meinem geliebten Kind: Gnade, Barmherzigkeit, Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und Christus Jesus, unserem Herrn!

Ich danke Gott, dem ich von meinen Voreltern her mit reinem Gewissen diene, wie unablässig ich deiner gedenke in meinen Gebeten Nacht und Tag,

Doy gracias á Dios, al cual sirvo desde mis mayores con limpia conciencia, de que sin cesar tengo memoria de ti en mis oraciones noche y día;

I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

voll Verlangen, dich zu sehen, indem ich eingedenk bin deiner Tränen, damit ich mit Freude erfüllt sein möge;

Deseando verte, acordándome de tus lágrimas, para ser lleno de gozo;

Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy;

indem ich mich erinnere des ungeheuchelten Glaubens in dir, der zuerst wohnte in deiner Großmutter Lois und deiner Mutter Eunike, ich bin aber überzeugt, auch in dir.

Trayendo á la memoria la fe no fingida que hay en ti, la cual residió primero en tu abuela Loida, y en tu madre Eunice; y estoy cierto que en ti también.

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

having been reminded of the sincere faith that is in you, which lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, in you also.

Aus diesem Grund erinnere ich dich daran, die Gnadengabe Gottes anzufachen, die in dir ist durch das Auflegen meiner Hände.

Por lo cual te aconsejo que despiertes el don de Dios, que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos.

Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

For this cause, I remind you that you should stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.

Denn Gott hat uns nicht einen Geist der Furchtsamkeit gegeben, sondern der Kraft und der Liebe und der Besonnenheit.

Porque no nos ha dado Dios el espíritu de temor, sino el de fortaleza, y de amor, y de templanza.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

So schäme dich nun nicht des Zeugnisses unseres Herrn noch meiner, seines Gefangenen, sondern leide Trübsal mit dem Evangelium, nach der Kraft Gottes;

Por tanto no te avergüences del testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni de mí, preso suyo; antes sé participante de los trabajos del evangelio según la virtud de Dios,

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

Therefore don’t be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner; but endure hardship for the Good News according to the power of God,

der uns errettet hat und berufen mit heiligem Ruf, nicht nach unseren Werken, sondern nach seinem eigenen Vorsatz und der Gnade, die uns in Christus Jesus vor den Zeiten der Zeitalter gegeben,

Que nos salvó y llamó con vocación santa, no conforme á nuestras obras, mas según el intento suyo y gracia, la cual nos es dada en Cristo Jesús antes de los tiempos de los siglos,

Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

jetzt aber offenbart worden ist durch die Erscheinung unseres Heilandes Jesus Christus, der den Tod zunichte gemacht, aber Leben und Unverweslichkeit ans Licht gebracht hat durch das Evangelium,

Mas ahora es manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo, el cual quitó la muerte, y sacó á la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por el evangelio;

But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

zu dem ich bestellt worden bin als Herold und Apostel und Lehrer der Nationen.

Del cual yo soy puesto predicador, y apóstol, y maestro de los Gentiles.

Where unto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

Aus diesem Grund leide ich dies auch; aber ich schäme mich nicht, denn ich weiß, wem ich geglaubt habe, und bin überzeugt, dass er mächtig ist, das ihm von mir anvertraute Gut auf jenen Tag zu bewahren.

Por lo cual asimismo padezco esto: mas no me avergüenzo; porque yo sé á quien he creído, y estoy cierto que es poderoso para guardar mi depósito para aquel día.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

Halte fest das Bild gesunder Worte, die du von mir gehört hast, in Glauben und Liebe, die in Christus Jesus sind.

Retén la forma de las sanas palabras que de mí oíste, en la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.

Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Hold the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Bewahre das schöne anvertraute Gut durch den Heiligen Geist, der in uns wohnt.

Guarda el buen depósito por el Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.

That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Du weißt dieses, dass alle, die in Asien sind, sich von mir abgewandt haben, unter denen Phygelus ist und Hermogenes.

Ya sabes esto, que me han sido contrarios todos los que son en Asia, de los cuales son Figello y Hermógenes.

This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

Der Herr gebe dem Haus des Onesiphorus Barmherzigkeit, denn er hat mich oft erquickt und sich meiner Kette nicht geschämt;

Dé el Señor misericordia á la casa de Onesíforo; que muchas veces me refrigeró, y no se avergonzó de mi cadena:

The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:

sondern als er in Rom war, suchte er mich fleißig auf und fand mich.

Der Herr gebe ihm, dass er vonseiten des Herrn Barmherzigkeit finde an jenem Tag! Und wieviel er in Ephesus diente, weißt du am besten.

Déle el Señor que halle misericordia cerca del Señor en aquel día. Y cuánto nos ayudó en Efeso, tú lo sabes mejor.

The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

(the Lord grant to him to find the Lord’s mercy in that day); and in how many things he served at Ephesus, you know very well.
