No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
De la misma manera, el atleta obedece las reglas del deporte si no quiere ser descalificado y perder el premio.
Y aun también el que lidia, no es coronado si no lidiare legítimamente.
And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

por predicarlo sufro penalidades y me tienen en la cárcel como a un criminal. Pero la Palabra de Dios no está presa.

Where in I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

Por eso, estoy dispuesto a sufrir si con ello alcanzan la salvación y la gloria eterna aquellos a los que Dios ha escogido. Esa es la salvación que tenemos en Cristo Jesús.

Si soportamos nuestros sufrimientos, reinaremos con él. Si negamos a Cristo, él también dirá que no nos conoce;
Si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él: si negáremos, él también nos negará:
If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.
si no somos fieles, él se mantiene fiel a nosotros, porque no puede faltar a su promesa.
Si fuéremos infieles, él permanece fiel: no se puede negar á sí mismo.
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he can not deny himself.
If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”
Recuérdales esto y encárgales delante de Dios que no discutan asuntos que no tienen importancia. Tales discusiones lo único que logran es hacer daño a los oyentes.
Recuérdales esto, protestando delante del Señor que no contiendan en palabras, lo cual para nada aprovecha, antes trastorna á los oyentes.
Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

Haz todo lo que sea posible para presentarte ante Dios aprobado, como un obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse porque interpreta correctamente la palabra de Dios.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
Apártate de las discusiones mundanas, pues suelen hacer caer a la gente en la maldad.

Pero la verdad de Dios es un cimiento que se mantiene firme y sólido, y tiene esta inscripción: «El Señor conoce a los que son suyos, y el que adora al Señor debe apartarse del mal».

Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

En una casa grande no sólo hay utensilios de oro y plata sino también de madera y barro. Unos son para ocasiones especiales, y otros son para el uso diario.

Si te mantienes limpio, serás como una vasija para ocasiones especiales, apartada y útil para el Señor, separada para usarse en toda obra buena.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.

Huye de las cosas que provocan malos pensamientos en las mentes juveniles, y dedícate a seguir la justicia, la fe, el amor y la paz, y hazlo junto con los que aman al Señor con toda sinceridad.
Huye también los deseos juveniles; y sigue la justicia, la fe, la caridad, la paz, con los que invocan al Señor de puro corazón.
Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Repito: No te metas en discusiones tontas y sin sentido, pues sabes bien que terminan en pleitos.

A un siervo del Señor no le conviene reñir, sino ser amable y paciente con todos, buen maestro y no dado al enojo.

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

Debe corregir con mansedumbre a los que se le oponen, con la esperanza de que Dios les conceda que se arrepientan y conozcan la verdad.
Que con mansedumbre corrija á los que se oponen: si quizá Dios les dé que se arrepientan para conocer la verdad,
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
in gentleness correcting those who oppose him. Perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,
De esta manera, volviendo en sí, escaparán de los lazos del diablo que los mantiene esclavizados y sujetos a su voluntad.
