Ninguno que se alista como soldado se enreda en los negocios de la vida, a fin de agradar al que lo reclutó como soldado.

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

Si somos infieles, Él permanece fiel, porque no puede negarse a Él mismo.
Si fuéremos infieles, él permanece fiel: no se puede negar á sí mismo.
If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he can not deny himself.
If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”
Recuérdales estas cosas. Encárgales solemnemente delante de Dios que no contiendan con respecto a palabras, lo cual para nada es provechoso. Sirve para destrucción de los oyentes.

Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Pero evita profanas y vacías habladurías, porque harán que la impiedad avance más.

Huye también de las pasiones juveniles, y persigue la justicia, la fe, el amor y la paz, con los que claman al Señor de corazón puro.

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

y vuelvan a ser sobrios con respecto a la trampa del diablo quien los tiene cautivos a su voluntad.
