1Así que, hijo mío, sé fuerte en la gracia de Cristo Jesús.
2Toma todo lo que me escuchaste decir delante de muchos testigos y compártelo con personas fieles, que luego también las enseñen a otros.
3Sufre conmigo como un buen soldado de Cristo Jesús.
4Un soldado activo que no se enreda con los asuntos de la vida diaria. Uno que quiere agradar a quien lo reclutó.
5Del mismo modo, los atletas que compiten en los juegos no ganan un premio si no siguen las normas.
6El granjero que hace todo el trabajo duro debe ser el primero en beneficiarse de la cosecha.
7Considera todo lo que te digo. Y el Señor te ayudará a comprender todas estas cosas.
8Fija tu mente en Jesucristo, descendiente de David, que fue levantado de los muertos. Esta es mi buena noticia
9y estoy sufriendo en la cárcel como si fuese un criminal, pero la palabra de Dios no está en una cárcel.
10A pesar de todo esto, estoy dispuesto a continuar por la causa del pueblo de Dios para que puedan recibir la salvación de Cristo Jesús, que es su gloria eterna.
11Este decir es sabio: “Si morimos con él, también viviremos con él;
12si persistimos, también reinaremos con él; si lo negamos, él también nos negará.
13Si somos infieles, él sigue siendo fiel, porque él no puede ser infiel consigo mismo”.
14Esas son las cosas que debes recordarle a la gente, diciéndoles ante Dios que no tengan discusiones vanas en cuanto a las palabras. Porque hacer esto solo hace daño a quien escucha.
15Esfuérzate arduamente en poder presentarte ante Dios y ser aprobado por él. Sé un obrero que no tenga nada de qué avergonzarse, usando correctamente la palabra de verdad.
16Evita las conversaciones inútiles, pues los que hacen esto están lejos de Dios en su caminar.
17Sus enseñanzas son destructivas como la gangrena que destruye la carne que está sana. Así son Himeneo y Fileto.
18Ellos se han desviado de la verdad al decir que la resurrección ya ocurrió, y esto ha destruido la fe de algunos.
19Pero el fundamento sólido y fiel de Dios se mantiene firme, con esta inscripción: “El Señor conoce a los que son suyos”, y “Todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor está apartado de todo mal”.
20Una casa majestuosa no solo tiene copas y tazas de oro y plata. También tiene algunas de madera y barro. Algunas son para uso especial; otras para funciones más comunes.
21Así que si te despojas de lo malo, serás una vasija especial, que es santa y única, útil para el Señor, lista para hacer lo bueno.
22Huye de todo lo que incite tus deseos juveniles. Busca las cosas justas y rectas, busca el amor y la paz así como a los que son cristianos y verdaderos.
23Evita las discusiones inmaduras y necias, pues tú sabes que esto solo conduce a contiendas.
24Porque el ministro del Señor no debe entrar en contiendas, sino ser amable con todos, capaz de enseñar, paciente,
25mansos para corregir a los que se oponen. Porque puede ser que a esos Dios les ayude a arrepentirse y entender la verdad.
26Así podrán entrar en razón y escapar de la trampa del diablo. Porque él los ha capturado para que hagan su voluntad.

1PUES tú, hijo mío, esfuérzate en la gracia que es en Cristo Jesús.
2Y lo que has oído de mí entre muchos testigos, esto encarga á los hombres fieles que serán idóneos para enseñar también á otros.
3Tú pues, sufre trabajos como fiel soldado de Jesucristo.
4Ninguno que milita se embaraza en los negocios de la vida; á fin de agradar á aquel que lo tomó por soldado.
5Y aun también el que lidia, no es coronado si no lidiare legítimamente.
6El labrador, para recibir los frutos, es menester que trabaje primero.
7Considera lo que digo; y el Señor te dé entendimiento en todo.
8Acuérdate que Jesucristo, el cual fué de la simiente de David, resucitó de los muertos conforme á mi evangelio;
9En el que sufro trabajo, hasta las prisiones á modo de malhechor; mas la palabra de Dios no está presa.
10Por tanto, todo lo sufro por amor de los escogidos, para que ellos también consigan la salud que es en Cristo Jesús con gloria eterna.
11Es palabra fiel: Que si somos muertos con él, también viviremos con él:
12Si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él: si negáremos, él también nos negará:
13Si fuéremos infieles, él permanece fiel: no se puede negar á sí mismo.
14Recuérdales esto, protestando delante del Señor que no contiendan en palabras, lo cual para nada aprovecha, antes trastorna á los oyentes.
15Procura con diligencia presentarte á Dios aprobado, como obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse, que traza bien la palabra de verdad.
16Mas evita profanas y vanas parlerías; porque muy adelante irán en la impiedad.
17Y la palabra de ellos carcomerá como gangrena: de los cuales es Himeneo y Fileto;
18Que se han descaminado de la verdad, diciendo que la resurrección es ya hecha, y trastornan la fe de algunos.
19Pero el fundamento de Dios está firme, teniendo este sello: Conoce el Señor á los que son suyos; y: Apártese de iniquidad todo aquel que invoca el nombre de Cristo.
20Mas en una casa grande, no solamente hay vasos de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro: y asimismo unos para honra, y otros para deshonra.
21Así que, si alguno se limpiare de estas cosas, será vaso para honra, santificado, y útil para los usos del Señor, y aparejado para todo buena obra.
22Huye también los deseos juveniles; y sigue la justicia, la fe, la caridad, la paz, con los que invocan al Señor de puro corazón.
23Empero las cuestiones necias y sin sabiduría desecha, sabiendo que engendran contiendas.
24Que el siervo del Señor no debe ser litigioso, sino manso para con todos, apto para enseñar, sufrido;
25Que con mansedumbre corrija á los que se oponen: si quizá Dios les dé que se arrepientan para conocer la verdad,
26Y se zafen del lazo del diablo, en que están cautivos á voluntad de él.

1Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
3Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
6The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
7Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
8Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
9Where in I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
10Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he can not deny himself.
14Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
22Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

1You therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2The things which you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit the same things to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
3You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
4No soldier on duty entangles himself in the affairs of life, that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.
5Also, if anyone competes in athletics, he isn’t crowned unless he has competed by the rules.
6The farmer who labors must be the first to get a share of the crops.
7Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.
8Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, of the offspring of David, according to my Good News,
9in which I suffer hardship to the point of chains as a criminal. But God’s word isn’t chained.
10Therefore I endure all things for the chosen ones’ sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11This saying is trustworthy: “For if we died with him, we will also live with him.
12If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he also will deny us.
13If we are faithless, he remains faithful; for he can’t deny himself.”
14Remind them of these things, charging them in the sight of the Lord that they don’t argue about words to no profit, to the subverting of those who hear.
15Give diligence to present yourself approved by God, a workman who doesn’t need to be ashamed, properly handling the Word of Truth.
16But shun empty chatter, for it will go further in ungodliness,
17and those words will consume like gangrene, of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus:
18men who have erred concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past, and overthrowing the faith of some.
19However, God’s firm foundation stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let every one who names the name of the Lord depart from unrighteousness.”
20Now in a large house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of clay. Some are for honor and some for dishonor.
21If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master’s use, prepared for every good work.
22Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.
24The Lord’s servant must not quarrel, but be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient,
25in gentleness correcting those who oppose him. Perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth,
26and they may recover themselves out of the devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
