Amado, yo deseo que tú seas prosperado en todas cosas, y que tengas salud, así como tu alma está en prosperidad.
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

En ninguna cosa tengo mayor gusto que cuando entiendo que mis hijos van por el camino de la verdad.
Ciertamente me gocé mucho cuando vinieron los hermanos y dieron testimonio de tu verdad, así como tú andas en la verdad.
For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth.

pues que por la gloria de su Nombre han emprendido el viaje, sin tomar nada de los gentiles recién convertidos.
Los cuales han dado testimonio de tu amor en presencia de la iglesia: á los cuales si ayudares como conviene según Dios, harás bien.
Which have borne witness of thy charity before the church: whom if thou bring forward on their journey after a godly sort, thou shalt do well:
They have testified about your love before the assembly. You will do well to send them forward on their journey in a way worthy of God,
Por eso mismo nosotros debemos acoger a los tales a fin de cooperar a la propagación de la verdad o de la buena nueva.
Porque ellos partieron por amor de su nombre, no tomando nada de los Gentiles.

Yo quizá hubiera escrito a la Iglesia; pero ese Diótrefes, que ambiciona la primacía entre los demás, nada quiere saber de nosotros.

Tú, querido mío, no has de imitar el mal ejemplo, sino el bueno. El que hace bien, es de Dios; el que hace mal, no mira a Dios.
Por esta causa, si yo viniere, recordaré las obras que hace parlando con palabras maliciosas contra nosotros; y no contento con estas cosas, no recibe á los hermanos, y prohibe á los que los quieren recibir, y los echa de la iglesia.
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
Therefore, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words. Not content with this, he doesn’t receive the brothers himself, and those who would, he forbids and throws out of the assembly.
Todos dan testimonio a favor de Demetrio, y lo da la verdad misma, y se lo damos igualmente nosotros; y bien sabes que nuestro testimonio es verdadero.
Amado, no sigas lo que es malo, sino lo que es bueno. El que hace bien es de Dios: mas el que hace mal, no ha visto á Dios.
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Muchas cosas tenía que escribirte; pero no he querido hacerlo por medio de tinta y pluma;
Todos dan testimonio de Demetrio, y aun la misma verdad: y también nosotros damos testimonio; y vosotros habéis conocido que nuestro testimonio es verdadero.
Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
