Um jene Zeit ließ der König Herodes einige Mitglieder der Gemeinde gefangennehmen, um seine Wut an ihnen auszulassen.

Y EN el mismo tiempo el rey Herodes echó mano á maltratar algunos de la iglesia.

Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

So ließ er Jakobus, den Bruder des Johannes, mit dem Schwert hinrichten;

und als er sah, daß sein Vorgehen den Beifall der Juden fand, ließ er weiter auch Petrus verhaften, und zwar während der Tage der ungesäuerten Brote.

Y viendo que había agradado á los Judíos, pasó adelante para prender también á Pedro. Eran entonces los días de los ázimos.

And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)

Als er ihn nun festgenommen hatte, ließ er ihn ins Gefängnis setzen und übertrug seine Bewachung vier Abteilungen Soldaten von je vier Mann; nach dem Passah wollte er ihn dann dem Volk (zur Aburteilung) vorführen lassen.

Y habiéndole preso, púsole en la cárcel, entregándole á cuatro cuaterniones de soldados que le guardasen; queriendo sacarle al pueblo después de la Pascua.

And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.

So wurde also Petrus im Gefängnis bewacht, während von der Gemeinde unablässig für ihn zu Gott gebetet wurde.

Así que, Pedro era guardado en la cárcel; y la iglesia hacía sin cesar oración á Dios por él.

Als ihn nun Herodes (zur Verurteilung) vorführen lassen wollte, schlief Petrus in der Nacht zuvor zwischen zwei Soldaten, mit zwei Ketten gefesselt; außerdem versahen Posten vor der Tür die Bewachung (der Zelle).

Y cuando Herodes le había de sacar, aquella misma noche estaba Pedro durmiendo entre dos soldados, preso con dos cadenas, y los guardas delante de la puerta, que guardaban la cárcel.

And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison.

The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.

Da stand mit einemmal ein Engel des Herrn da, und Lichtschein erhellte den Raum. Der Engel weckte den Petrus durch einen Stoß in die Seite und sagte zu ihm: »Stehe schnell auf!« Zugleich fielen ihm die Ketten von den Armen ab.

Y he aquí, el ángel del Señor sobrevino, y una luz resplandeció en la cárcel; é hiriendo á Pedro en el lado, le despertó, diciendo: Levántate prestamente. Y las cadenas se le cayeron de las manos.

And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.

And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off his hands.

Weiter sagte der Engel zu ihm: »Gürte dich und binde dir die Sandalen unter!« Das tat Petrus. Dann sagte der Engel zu ihm: »Wirf dir deinen Mantel um und folge mir!«

Y le dijo el ángel: Cíñete, y átate tus sandalias. Y lo hizo así. Y le dijo: Rodéate tu ropa, y sígueme.

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me.

The angel said to him, “Get dressed and put on your sandals.” He did so. He said to him, “Put on your cloak and follow me.”

So ging Petrus denn hinter ihm her (aus der Zelle) hinaus, wußte aber nicht, daß das, was durch den Engel geschah, Wirklichkeit war; er meinte vielmehr zu träumen.

Y saliendo, le seguía; y no sabía que era verdad lo que hacía el ángel, mas pensaba que veía visión.

And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision.

And he went out and followed him. He didn’t know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he saw a vision.

Als sie dann an dem ersten und zweiten Wachposten vorübergegangen waren, kamen sie an das eiserne Tor, das zur Stadt hinausführte; dieses öffnete sich ihnen von selbst, und nachdem sie hinausgetreten waren, gingen sie eine Straße weit vorwärts; da verschwand plötzlich der Engel neben ihm.

Y como pasaron la primera y la segunda guardia, vinieron á la puerta de hierro que va á la ciudad, la cual se les abrió de suyo: y salidos, pasaron una calle; y luego el ángel se apartó de él.

When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him.

When they were past the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate that leads into the city, which opened to them by itself. They went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

Als Petrus nun zu sich kam, sagte er: »Jetzt weiß ich in Wahrheit, daß der Herr seinen Engel gesandt und mich aus der Hand des Herodes und vor der ganzen Gier des jüdischen Volks gerettet hat.«

Entonces Pedro, volviendo en sí, dijo: Ahora entiendo verdaderamente que el Señor ha enviado su ángel, y me ha librado de la mano de Herodes, y de todo el pueblo de los Judíos que me esperaba.

And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews.

When Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting.”

Nachdem er sich hierüber klar geworden war, ging er nach dem Hause der Maria, der Mutter des Johannes, der den Beinamen Markus führte; hier waren viele (Brüder) versammelt und beteten.

Y habiendo considerado esto, llegó á casa de María la madre de Juan, el que tenía por sobrenombre Marcos, donde muchos estaban juntos orando.

And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.

Als er nun an die Tür des Hoftores geklopft hatte, kam eine Magd namens Rhode herbei, um zu horchen, wer da sei.

Y tocando Pedro á la puerta del patio, salió una muchacha, para escuchar, llamada Rhode:

And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a damsel came to hearken, named Rhoda.

When Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer.

Als sie Petrus an der Stimme erkannte, schloß sie in ihrer Freude das Tor nicht auf, sondern lief ins Haus hinein und meldete, Petrus stehe vor dem Tor.

La cual como conoció la voz de Pedro, de gozo no abrió el postigo, sino corriendo adentro, dió nueva de que Pedro estaba al postigo.

And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.

When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.

Jene antworteten ihr: »Du bist von Sinnen!«, doch sie versicherte bestimmt, es verhalte sich so.

Y ellos le dijeron: Estás loca. Mas ella afirmaba que así era. Entonces ellos decían: Su ángel es.

And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then said they, It is his angel.

They said to her, “You are crazy!” But she insisted that it was so. They said, “It is his angel.”

Da sagten sie: »Es muß sein Engel sein!« Petrus aber fuhr inzwischen beharrlich fort zu pochen; da schlossen sie auf, sahen ihn und gerieten in das höchste Erstaunen.

Mas Pedro perseveraba en llamar: y cuando abrieron, viéronle, y se espantaron.

But Peter continued knocking: and when they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonished.

Er aber gab ihnen mit der Hand einen Wink, sie möchten sich still verhalten, erzählte ihnen dann, wie der Herr ihn aus dem Gefängnis herausgeführt habe, und gab ihnen den Auftrag: »Teilt dies dem Jakobus und den (übrigen) Brüdern mit!« Darauf entfernte er sich und begab sich an einen anderen Ort.

Mas él haciéndoles con la mano señal de que callasen, les contó cómo el Señor le había sacado de la cárcel. Y dijo: Haced saber esto á Jacobo y á los hermanos. Y salió, y partió á otro lugar.

But he, beckoning unto them with the hand to hold their peace, declared unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and went into another place.

But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, “Tell these things to James and to the brothers.” Then he departed and went to another place.

Nach Tagesanbruch aber entstand eine nicht geringe Bestürzung unter den Soldaten, was wohl mit Petrus geschehen sei.

Luego que fué de día, hubo no poco alboroto entre los soldados sobre qué se había hecho de Pedro.

Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

Herodes wollte ihn nämlich holen lassen; und als er ihn nicht vorfand, stellte er ein Verhör mit den Wächtern an und ließ sie (zur Hinrichtung) abführen. Darnach begab er sich aus Judäa nach Cäsarea hinab und verlegte dorthin seine Hofhaltung.

And when Herod had sought for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judæa to Cæsarea, and there abode.

Er war damals aber gegen die Einwohner von Tyrus und Sidon erbittert; diese schickten jedoch nach gemeinsamem Beschluß eine Gesandtschaft an ihn, gewannen Blastus, den königlichen Kammerherrn, für sich und baten um Frieden; ihr Land war nämlich bezüglich der Zufuhr auf das Land des Königs angewiesen.

Y Herodes estaba enojado contra los de Tiro y los de Sidón: mas ellos vinieron concordes á él, y sobornado Blasto, que era el camarero del rey, pedían paz; porque las tierras de ellos eran abastecidas por las del rey.

And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king’s chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king’s country.

Now Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They came with one accord to him and, having made Blastus, the king’s personal aide, their friend, they asked for peace, because their country depended on the king’s country for food.

Am festgesetzten Tage nun legte Herodes königliche Gewandung an, nahm auf der Rednerbühne Platz und hielt eine Ansprache an sie.

Y un día señalado, Herodes vestido de ropa real, se sentó en el tribunal, y arengóles.

And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

On an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal clothing, sat on the throne, and gave a speech to them.

Dabei rief das Volk ihm zu: »Ein Gott redet und nicht ein Mensch!«

Y el pueblo aclamaba: Voz de Dios, y no de hombre.

And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

The people shouted, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!”

Da schlug ihn augenblicklich ein Engel des Herrn zur Strafe dafür, daß er nicht Gott die Ehre gegeben hatte: er erkrankte am Wurmfraß und beschloß sein Leben.

Y luego el ángel del Señor le hirió, por cuanto no dió la gloria á Dios; y espiró comido de gusanos.

And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he didn’t give God the glory. Then he was eaten by worms and died.

Das Wort Gottes jedoch wuchs und breitete sich immer weiter aus.

Barnabas und Saulus aber kehrten nach Ausrichtung ihres Auftrags von Jerusalem (nach Antiochia) zurück und nahmen auch Johannes mit dem Beinamen Markus mit sich.

Y Bernabé y Saulo volvieron de Jerusalem cumplido su servicio, tomando también consigo á Juan, el que tenía por sobrenombre Marcos.

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilled their ministry, and took with them John, whose surname was Mark.
