1Er kam aber gen Derbe und Lystra; und siehe, ein Jünger war daselbst mit Namen Timotheus, eines jüdischen Weibes Sohn, die war gläubig, aber eines griechischen Vaters.
2Der hatte ein gut Gerücht bei den Brüdern unter den Lystranern und zu Ikonion.
3Diesen wollte Paulus mit sich ziehen lassen und nahm und beschnitt ihn um der Juden willen, die an den Orten waren; denn sie wußten alle, daß sein Vater war ein Grieche gewesen.
4Wie sie aber durch die Städte zogen, überantworteten sie ihnen, zu halten den Spruch, welcher von den Aposteln und den Ältesten beschlossen war.
5Da wurden die Gemeinden im Glauben befestigt und nahmen zu an der Zahl täglich.
6Da sie aber durch Phrygien und das Land Galatien zogen, ward ihnen gewehrt von dem heiligen Geiste, zu reden das Wort in Asien.
7Als sie aber kamen an Mysien, versuchten sie, durch Bithynien zu reisen; und der Geist ließ es ihnen nicht zu.
8Sie zogen aber an Mysien vorüber und kamen hinab gen Troas.
9Und Paulus erschien ein Gesicht bei der Nacht; das war ein Mann aus Mazedonien, der stand und bat ihn und sprach: Komm herüber nach Mazedonien und hilf uns!
10Als er aber das Gesicht gesehen hatte, da trachteten wir alsobald, zu reisen nach Mazedonien, gewiß, daß uns der HERR dahin berufen hätte, ihnen das Evangelium zu predigen.
11Da fuhren wir aus von Troas; und geradewegs kamen wir gen Samothrazien, des andern Tages gen Neapolis
12und von da gen Philippi, welches ist die Hauptstadt des Landes Mazedonien und eine Freistadt. Wir hatten aber in dieser Stadt unser Wesen etliche Tage.
13Am Tage des Sabbats gingen wir hinaus vor die Stadt an das Wasser, da man pflegte zu beten, und setzten uns und redeten zu den Weibern, die da zusammenkamen.
14Und ein gottesfürchtiges Weib mit Namen Lydia, eine Purpurkrämerin aus der Stadt der Thyathirer, hörte zu; dieser tat der HERR das Herz auf, daß sie darauf achthatte, was von Paulus geredet ward.
15Als sie aber und ihr Haus getauft ward, ermahnte sie uns und sprach: So ihr mich achtet, daß ich gläubig bin an den HERRN, so kommt in mein Haus und bleibt allda. Und sie nötigte uns.
16Es geschah aber, da wir zu dem Gebet gingen, daß eine Magd uns begegnete, die hatte einen Wahrsagergeist und trug ihren Herren viel Gewinnst zu mit Wahrsagen.
17Die folgte allenthalben Paulus und uns nach, schrie und sprach: Diese Menschen sind die Knechte Gottes des Allerhöchsten, die euch den Weg der Seligkeit verkündigen.
18Solches tat sie manchen Tag. Paulus aber tat das wehe, und er wandte sich um und sprach zu dem Geiste: Ich gebiete dir in dem Namen Jesu Christi, daß du von ihr ausfahrest. Und er fuhr aus zu derselben Stunde.
19Da aber die Herren sahen, daß die Hoffnung ihres Gewinnstes war ausgefahren, nahmen sie Paulus und Silas, zogen sie auf den Markt vor die Obersten
20und führten sie zu den Hauptleuten und sprachen: Diese Menschen machen unsere Stadt irre; sie sind Juden
21und verkündigen eine Weise, welche uns nicht ziemt anzunehmen noch zu tun, weil wir Römer sind.
22Und das Volk ward erregt wider sie; und die Hauptleute ließen ihnen die Kleider abreißen und hießen sie stäupen.
23Und da sie sie wohl gestäupt hatten, warfen sie sie ins Gefängnis und geboten dem Kerkermeister, daß er sie wohl verwahrte.
24Der, da er solches Gebot empfangen hatte, warf sie in das innerste Gefängnis und legte ihre Füße in den Stock.
25Um Mitternacht aber beteten Paulus und Silas und lobten Gott. Und es hörten sie die Gefangenen.
26Schnell aber ward ein großes Erdbeben, also daß sich bewegten die Grundfesten des Gefängnisses. Und von Stund an wurden alle Türen aufgetan und aller Bande los.
27Als aber der Kerkermeister aus dem Schlafe fuhr und sah die Türen des Gefängnisses aufgetan, zog er das Schwert aus und wollte sich selbst erwürgen; denn er meinte die Gefangenen wären entflohen.
28Paulus rief aber laut und sprach: Tu dir nichts Übles; denn wir sind alle hier!
29Er forderte aber ein Licht und sprang hinein und ward zitternd und fiel Paulus und Silas zu den Füßen
30und führte sie heraus und sprach: Liebe Herren, was soll ich tun, daß ich selig werde?
31Sie sprachen: Glaube an den HERRN Jesus Christus, so wirst du und dein Haus selig!
32Und sie sagten ihm das Wort des HERRN und allen, die in seinem Hause waren.
33Und er nahm sie zu sich in derselben Stunde der Nacht und wusch ihnen die Striemen ab; und er ließ sich taufen und alle die Seinen alsobald.
34Und führte sie in sein Haus und setzte ihnen einen Tisch und freute sich mit seinem ganzen Hause, daß er an Gott gläubig geworden war.
35Und da es Tag ward, sandten die Hauptleute Stadtdiener und sprachen: Laß die Menschen gehen!
36Und der Kerkermeister verkündigte diese Rede Paulus: Die Hauptleute haben hergesandt, daß ihr los sein sollt. Nun ziehet aus und gehet hin mit Frieden!
37Paulus aber sprach zu ihnen: Sie haben uns ohne Recht und Urteil öffentlich gestäupt, die wir doch Römer sind, und uns ins Gefängnis geworfen, und sollten uns nun heimlich ausstoßen? Nicht also; sondern lasset sie selbst kommen und uns hinausführen!
38Die Stadtdiener verkündigten diese Worte den Hauptleuten. Und sie fürchteten sich, da sie hörten, daß sie Römer wären,
39und kamen und redeten ihnen zu, führten sie heraus und baten sie, daß sie auszögen aus der Stadt.
40Da gingen sie aus dem Gefängnis und gingen zu der Lydia. Und da sie die Brüder gesehen hatten und getröstet, zogen sie aus.

1DESPUÉS llegó á Derbe, y á Listra: y he aquí, estaba allí un discípulo llamado Timoteo, hijo de una mujer Judía fiel, mas de padre Griego.
2De éste daban buen testimonio los hermanos que estaban en Listra y en Iconio.
3Este quiso Pablo que fuese con él; y tomándole, le circuncidó por causa de los Judíos que estaban en aquellos lugares; porque todos sabían que su padre era Griego.
4Y como pasaban por las ciudades, les daban que guardasen los decretos que habían sido determinados por los apóstoles y los ancianos que estaban en Jerusalem.
5Así que, las iglesias eran confirmadas en fe, y eran aumentadas en número cada día.
6Y pasando á Phrygia y la provincia de Galacia, les fué prohibido por el Espíritu Santo hablar la palabra en Asia.
7Y como vinieron á Misia, tentaron de ir á Bithynia; mas el Espíritu no les dejó.
8Y pasando á Misia, descendieron á Troas.
9Y fué mostrada á Pablo de noche una visión: Un varón Macedonio se puso delante, rogándole, y diciendo: Pasa á Macedonia, y ayúdanos.
10Y como vió la visión, luego procuramos partir á Macedonia, dando por cierto que Dios nos llamaba para que les anunciásemos el evangelio.
11Partidos pues de Troas, vinimos camino derecho á Samotracia, y el día siguiente á Neápolis;
12Y de allí á Filipos, que es la primera ciudad de la parte de Macedonia, y una colonia; y estuvimos en aquella ciudad algunos días.
13Y un día de sábado salimos de la puerta junto al río, donde solía ser la oración; y sentándonos, hablamos á las mujeres que se habían juntado.
14Entonces una mujer llamada Lidia, que vendía púrpura en la ciudad de Tiatira, temerosa de Dios, estaba oyendo; el corazón de la cual abrió el Señor para que estuviese atenta á lo que Pablo decía.
15Y cuando fué bautizada, y su familia, nos rogó, diciendo: Si habéis juzgado que yo sea fiel al Señor, entrad en mi casa, y posad: y constriñónos.
16Y aconteció, que yendo nosotros á la oración, una muchacha que tenía espíritu pitónico, nos salió al encuentro, la cual daba grande ganancia á sus amos adivinando.
17Esta, siguiendo á Pablo y á nosotros, daba voces, diciendo: Estos hombres son siervos del Dios Alto, los cuales os anuncian el camino de salud.
18Y esto hacía por muchos días; mas desagradando á Pablo, se volvió y dijo al espíritu: Te mando en el nombre de Jesucristo, que salgas de ella. Y salió en la misma hora.
19Y viendo sus amos que había salido la esperanza de su ganancia, prendieron á Pablo y á Silas, y los trajeron al foro, al magistrado;
20Y presentándolos á los magistrados, dijeron: Estos hombres, siendo Judíos, alborotan nuestra ciudad,
21Y predican ritos, los cuales no nos es lícito recibir ni hacer, pues somos Romanos.
22Y agolpóse el pueblo contra ellos: y los magistrados rompiéndoles sus ropas, les mandaron azotar con varas.
23Y después que los hubieron herido de muchos azotes, los echaron en la cárcel, mandando al carcelero que los guardase con diligencia:
24El cual, recibido este mandamiento, los metió en la cárcel de más adentro; y les apretó los pies en el cepo.
25Mas á media noche, orando Pablo y Silas, cantaban himnos á Dios: y los que estaban presos los oían.
26Entonces fué hecho de repente un gran terremoto, de tal manera que los cimientos de la cárcel se movían; y luego todas las puertas se abrieron, y las prisiones de todos se soltaron.
27Y despertado el carcelero, como vió abiertas las puertas de la cárcel, sacando la espada se quería matar, pensando que los presos se habían huído.
28Mas Pablo clamó á gran voz, diciendo: No te hagas ningún mal; que todos estamos aquí.
29El entonces pidiendo luz, entró dentro, y temblando, derribóse á los pies de Pablo y de Silas;
30Y sacándolos fuera, les dice: Señores, ¿qué es menester que yo haga para ser salvo?
31Y ellos dijeron: Cree en el Señor Jesucristo, y serás salvo tú, y tu casa.
32Y le hablaron la palabra del Señor, y á todos los que estaban en su casa.
33Y tomándolos en aquella misma hora de la noche, les lavó los azotes; y se bautizó luego él, y todos los suyos.
34Y llevándolos á su casa, les puso la mesa: y se gozó de que con toda su casa había creído á Dios.
35Y como fué de día, los magistrados enviaron los alguaciles, diciendo: Deja ir á aquellos hombres.
36Y el carcelero hizo saber estas palabras á Pablo: Los magistrados han enviado á decir que seáis sueltos: así que ahora salid, é id en paz.
37Entonces Pablo les dijo: Azotados públicamente sin ser condenados, siendo hombres Romanos, nos echaron en la cárcel; y ¿ahora nos echan encubiertamente? No, de cierto, sino vengan ellos y sáquennos.
38Y los alguaciles volvieron á decir á los magistrados estas palabras: y tuvieron miedo, oído que eran Romanos.
39Y viniendo, les rogaron; y sacándolos, les pidieron que se saliesen de la ciudad.
40Entonces salidos de la cárcel, entraron en casa de Lidia; y habiendo visto á los hermanos, los consolaron, y se salieron.

1Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:
2Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
3Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.
4And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
5And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
7After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
8And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
9And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
10And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.
11Therefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;
12And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.
13And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
14And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
15And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.
16And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
19And when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,
20And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,
21And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.
22And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.
23And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
26And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
27And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.
28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
29Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,
30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
32And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
33And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.
34And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.
35And when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.
36And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.
37But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
38And the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.
39And they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.
40And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.

1He came to Derbe and Lystra; and behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewess who believed, but his father was a Greek.
2The brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium gave a good testimony about him.
3Paul wanted to have him go out with him, and he took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
4As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered the decrees to them to keep which had been ordained by the apostles and elders who were at Jerusalem.
5So the assemblies were strengthened in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6When they had gone through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.
7When they had come opposite Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit didn’t allow them.
8Passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.
9A vision appeared to Paul in the night. There was a man of Macedonia standing, begging him and saying, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.”
10When he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go out to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the Good News to them.
11Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the day following to Neapolis;
12and from there to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the foremost of the district, a Roman colony. We were staying some days in this city.
13On the Sabbath day we went outside of the city by a riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
14A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, one who worshiped God, heard us. The Lord opened her heart to listen to the things which were spoken by Paul.
15When she and her household were baptized, she begged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay.” So she persuaded us.
16As we were going to prayer, a certain girl having a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much gain by fortune telling.
17Following Paul and us, she cried out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us a way of salvation!”
18She was doing this for many days. But Paul, becoming greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her!” It came out that very hour.
19But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers.
20When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men, being Jews, are agitating our city
21and advocate customs which it is not lawful for us to accept or to observe, being Romans.”
22The multitude rose up together against them and the magistrates tore their clothes from them, then commanded them to be beaten with rods.
23When they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, charging the jailer to keep them safely.
24Having received such a command, he threw them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the stocks.
25But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
26Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were loosened.
27The jailer, being roused out of sleep and seeing the prison doors open, drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped.
28But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, “Don’t harm yourself, for we are all here!”
29He called for lights, sprang in, fell down trembling before Paul and Silas,
30brought them out, and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
32They spoke the word of the Lord to him, and to all who were in his house.
33He took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes, and was immediately baptized, he and all his household.
34He brought them up into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly with all his household, having believed in God.
35But when it was day, the magistrates sent the sergeants, saying, “Let those men go.”
36The jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go; now therefore come out and go in peace.”
37But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly without a trial, men who are Romans, and have cast us into prison! Do they now release us secretly? No, most certainly, but let them come themselves and bring us out!”
38The sergeants reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Romans,
39and they came and begged them. When they had brought them out, they asked them to depart from the city.
40They went out of the prison and entered into Lydia’s house. When they had seen the brothers, they encouraged them, then departed.
