Weil wir also göttlichen Geschlechts sind, dürfen wir nicht meinen, die Gottheit gleiche dem Gold oder Silber oder Stein, einem Gebilde menschlicher Kunstfertigkeit und Überlegung.

Siendo pues linaje de Dios, no hemos de estimar la Divinidad ser semejante á oro, ó á plata, ó á piedra, escultura de artificio ó de imaginación de hombres.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.
