Da sie aber durch Amphipolis und Apollonia reiseten, kamen sie gen Thessalonich. Da war eine Judenschule.

Y PASANDO por Amphípolis y Apolonia, llegaron á Tesalónica, donde estaba la sinagoga de los Judíos.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

Nachdem nun Paulus gewohnet war ging erzu ihnen hinein und redete mit ihnen an drei Sabbaten aus der Schrift,

Y Pablo, como acostumbraba, entró á ellos, y por tres sábados disputó con ellos de las Escrituras,

And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

tat sie ihnen auf und legte es ihnen vor, daß Christus mulite leiden und auferstehen von den Toten, und daß, dieser Jesus, den ich (sprach er) euch verkundige, ist der Christus.

Declarando y proponiendo, que convenía que el Cristo padeciese, y resucitase de los muertos; y que Jesús, el cual yo os anuncio, decía él, éste era el Cristo.

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”

Und etliche unter ihnen fielen ihm zu und geselleten sich zu Paulus und Silas, auch der gottesfurchtigen Griechen eine große Menge, dazu der vornehmsten Weiber nicht wenig.

Y algunos de ellos creyeron, y se juntaron con Pablo y con Silas; y de los Griegos religiosos grande multitud, y mujeres nobles no pocas.

And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Aber die halsstarrigen Juden neideten und nahmen zu sich etliche boshaftige Manner Pobelvolks, machten eine Rotte und richteten einen Aufruhr in der Stadt an und traten vor das Haus Jasons und suchten sie zu fuhren unter das gemeine Volk.

Entonces los Judíos que eran incrédulos, teniendo celos, tomaron consigo á algunos ociosos, malos hombres, y juntando compañía, alborotaron la ciudad; y acometiendo á la casa de Jasón, procuraban sacarlos al pueblo.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.

Da sie aber sie nicht fanden, schleiften sie den Jason und etliche Brüder vor die Obersten der Stadt und schrieen: Diese, die den ganzen Weltkreis erregen, sind auch herkommen;

Mas no hallándolos, trajeron á Jasón y á algunos hermanos á los gobernadores de la ciudad, dando voces: Estos que alborotan el mundo, también han venido acá;

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

die herberget Jason; und diese alle handeln wider des Kaisers Gebot, sagen, ein anderer sei der Konig, namlich Jesus.

A los cuales Jasón ha recibido; y todos estos hacen contra los decretos de César, diciendo que hay otro rey, Jesús.

Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Cæsar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

Sie bewegeten aber das Volk und die Obersten der Stadt, die solches horeten.

Y alborotaron al pueblo y á los gobernadores de la ciudad, oyendo estas cosas.

And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

Und da sie Verantwortung von Jason und den andern empfangen hatten, lieüen sie sie los.

Mas recibida satisfacción de Jasón y de los demás, los soltaron.

And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go.

Die Brüder aber fertigten alsobald ab bei der Nacht Paulus und Silas gen Beroa. Da sie dahinkamen, gingen sie in die Judenschule.

Entonces los hermanos, luego de noche, enviaron á Pablo y á Silas á Berea; los cuales habiendo llegado, entraron en la sinagoga de los Judíos.

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Beroea. When they arrived, they went into the Jewish synagogue.

Denn sie waren die edelsten unter denen zu Thessalonich; die nahmen das Wort auf ganz williglich und forscheten taglich in der Schrift, ob sich's also verhielte.

Y fueron éstos más nobles que los que estaban en Tesalónica, pues recibieron la palabra con toda solicitud, escudriñando cada día las Escrituras, si estas cosas eran así.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

So glaubten nun viel aus ihnen, auch der griechischen ehrbaren Weiber und Manner nicht wenig.

Así que creyeron muchos de ellos; y mujeres Griegas de distinción, y no pocos hombres.

Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.

Als aber die Juden zu Thessalonich erfuhren, daß auch zu Beroa das Wort Gottes von Paulus verkundiget würde, kamen sie und bewegten auch aildadas Volk.

Mas como entendieron los Judíos de Tesalónica que también en Berea era anunciada la palabra de Dios por Pablo, fueron, y también allí tumultuaron al pueblo.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Aber da fertigten die Brüder Paulus alsobald ab, da(S er ging bis an das Meer; Silas aber und Timotheus blieben da.

Empero luego los hermanos enviaron á Pablo que fuese como á la mar; y Silas y Timoteo se quedaron allí.

And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Then the brothers immediately sent out Paul to go as far as to the sea, and Silas and Timothy still stayed there.

Die aber Paulus geleiteten, fuhreten ihn bis gen Athen. Und als sie Befehl empfingen an den Silas und Timotheus, daß sie aufs schierste zu ihm kamen, zogen sie hin.

Y los que habían tomado á cargo á Pablo, le llevaron hasta Atenas; y tomando encargo para Silas y Timoteo, que viniesen á él lo más presto que pudiesen, partieron.

And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

But those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.

Da aber Paulus ihrer zu Athen wartete, ergrimmete sein Geist in ihm, da er sah die Stadt so gar abgottisch.

Y esperándolos Pablo en Atenas, su espíritu se deshacía en él viendo la ciudad dada á idolatría.

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

Und er redete zwarzu den Juden und Gottesfurchtigen in der Schule, auch auf dem Markt alle Tage zu denen, die sich herzufanden.

Así que, disputaba en la sinagoga con los Judíos y religiosos; y en la plaza cada día con los que le ocurrían.

Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who met him.

Etliche aber der Epikurer und Stoiker Philosophen zankten mit ihm; und etliche sprachen: Was will dieser Lotterbube sagen? Etliche aber: Es siehet, als wollte er neue Gotter verkündigen. Das machte, er hatte das Evangelium von Jesu und von der Auferstehung ihnen verkundigt.

Y algunos filósofos de los Epicúreos y de los Estóicos, disputaban con él; y unos decían: ¿Qué quiere decir este palabrero? Y otros: Parece que es predicador de nuevos dioses: porque les predicaba á Jesús y la resurrección.

Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be advocating foreign deities,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.

Sie nahmen ihn aber und fuhreten ihn auf den Richtplatz und sprachen: Konnen wirauch erfahren, was das fur eine neue Lehre sei, die du lehrest?

Y tomándole, le trajeron al Areópago, diciendo: ¿Podremos saber qué sea esta nueva doctrina que dices?

And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

They took hold of him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is, which you are speaking about?

Denn du bringest etwas Neues vor unsere Ohren; so wollten wir gerne wissen, was das sei.

Porque pones en nuestros oídos unas nuevas cosas: queremos pues saber qué quiere ser esto.

For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

For you bring certain strange things to our ears. We want to know therefore what these things mean.”

Die Athener aber alle, auch die Auslander und Gaste, waren gerichtet auf nichts anderes, denn etwas Neues zu sagen Oder zu horen.

(Entonces todos los Atenienses y los huéspedes extranjeros, en ninguna otra cosa entendían, sino ó en decir ó en oir alguna cosa nueva.)

(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

Paulus aber stund mitten auf dem Richtplatz und sprach: Ihr Manner von Athen, ich sehe euch, daß ihr in alien Stricken allzu aberglaubisch seid.

Estando pues Pablo en medio del Areópago, dijo: Varones Atenienses, en todo os veo como más supersticiosos;

Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said, “You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.

Ich bin herdurchgegangen und habe gesehen eure Gottesdienste und fand einen Altar, darauf war geschrieben: Dem unbekannten Gott. Nun verkündige ich euch denselbigen, dem ihr unwissend Gottesdienst tut.

Porque pasando y mirando vuestros santuarios, hallé también un altar en el cual estaba esta inscripción: AL DIOS NO CONOCIDO. Aquél pues, que vosotros honráis sin conocerle, á éste os anuncio yo.

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ What therefore you worship in ignorance, I announce to you.

Gott, der die Welt gemacht hat und alles, was drinnen ist, sintemal erein Herr ist Himmels und der Erde, wohnet er nicht in Tempeln mit Handen gemacht.

El Dios que hizo el mundo y todas las cosas que en él hay, éste, como sea Señor del cielo y de la tierra, no habita en templos hechos de manos,

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.

Sein wird auch nicht von Menschenhanden gepfleget, als der jemandes bedürfe, so er selber jedermann Leben und Odem allenthalben gibt.

Ni es honrado con manos de hombres, necesitado de algo; pues él da á todos vida, y respiración, y todas las cosas;

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

He isn’t served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.

Und hat gemacht, daß von einem Blut aller Menschen Geschlechter auf dem ganzen Erdboden wohnen, und hat Ziel gesetzt, zuvor versehen, wie lang und weit sie wohnen sollen,

Y de una sangre ha hecho todo el linaje de los hombres, para que habitasen sobre toda la faz de la tierra; y les ha prefijado el orden de los tiempos, y los términos de la habitación de ellos;

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons and the boundaries of their dwellings,

daß sie den Herrn suchen sollten, ob sie doch ihn fühlen und finden mochten. Und zwar er ist nicht feme von einem jeglichen unter uns;

Para que buscasen á Dios, si en alguna manera, palpando, le hallen; aunque cierto no está lejos de cada uno de nosotros:

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

denn in ihm leben, weben und sind wir, als auch etliche Poeten bei euch gesagt haben: Wir sind seines Geschlechts.

Porque en él vivimos, y nos movemos, y somos; como también algunos de vuestros poetas dijeron: Porque linaje de éste somos también.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’

So wir denn gottliches Geschlechts sind, sollen wir nicht meinen, die Gottheit sei gleich den guldenen, silbernen und steinernen Bildern, durch menschliche Gedanken gemacht.

Siendo pues linaje de Dios, no hemos de estimar la Divinidad ser semejante á oro, ó á plata, ó á piedra, escultura de artificio ó de imaginación de hombres.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.

Und zwar hat Gott die Zeit der Unwissenheit übersehen; nun aber gebeut er alien Menschen an alien Enden, Buße zu tun,

Empero Dios, habiendo disimulado los tiempos de esta ignorancia, ahora denuncia á todos los hombres en todos los lugares que se arrepientan:

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent,

darum daß er einen Tag gesetzt hat, auf welchen er richten will den Kreis des Erdbodens mit Gerechtigkeit durch einen Mann, in welchem er’s beschlossen hat, und jedermann vorhalt den Glauben, nachdem er ihn hat von den Toten auferweckt.

Por cuanto ha establecido un día, en el cual ha de juzgar al mundo con justicia, por aquel varón al cual determinó; dando fe á todos con haberle levantado de los muertos.

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Da sie horeten die Auferstehung der Toten, da hatten’s etliche ihren Spott; etliche aber sprachen: Wir wollen dich davon weiter horen.

Y así como oyeron de la resurrección de los muertos, unos se burlaban, y otros decían: Te oiremos acerca de esto otra vez.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

Also ging Paulus von ihnen.

Y así Pablo se salió de en medio de ellos.

Etliche Manner aber hingen ihm an und wurden glaubig, unter welchen war Dionysius, einer aus dem Rat, und ein Weib mit Namen Damaris und andere mit ihnen.

Mas algunos creyeron, juntándose con él; entre los cuales también fué Dionisio el del Areópago, y una mujer llamada Dámaris, y otros con ellos.

Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
