Nachdem sie aber durch Amphipolis und Apollonia gereist waren, kamen sie nach Thessalonich, wo die Synagoge der Juden war.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

Nach seiner Gewohnheit aber ging Paulus zu ihnen hinein und unterredete sich an drei Sabbaten mit ihnen aus den Schriften,

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”

Und einige von ihnen glaubten und gesellten sich zu Paulus und Silas, und von den anbetenden Griechen eine große Menge und der vornehmsten Frauen nicht wenige.

Y algunos de ellos creyeron, y se juntaron con Pablo y con Silas; y de los Griegos religiosos grande multitud, y mujeres nobles no pocas.

And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Die Juden aber wurden voll Neides und nahmen einige böse Männer vom Gassenpöbel zu sich, machten einen Volksauflauf und brachten die Stadt in Aufruhr; und sie traten vor das Haus Jasons und suchten sie unter das Volk zu führen.

Entonces los Judíos que eran incrédulos, teniendo celos, tomaron consigo á algunos ociosos, malos hombres, y juntando compañía, alborotaron la ciudad; y acometiendo á la casa de Jasón, procuraban sacarlos al pueblo.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.

Als sie sie aber nicht fanden, schleppten sie Jason und einige Brüder vor die Obersten der Stadt und riefen: Diese, die den Erdkreis aufgewiegelt haben, sind auch hierhergekommen,

Mas no hallándolos, trajeron á Jasón y á algunos hermanos á los gobernadores de la ciudad, dando voces: Estos que alborotan el mundo, también han venido acá;

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

die Jason beherbergt hat; und diese alle handeln gegen die Verordnungen des Kaisers, indem sie sagen, dass ein anderer König sei – Jesus.

A los cuales Jasón ha recibido; y todos estos hacen contra los decretos de César, diciendo que hay otro rey, Jesús.

Sie beunruhigten aber die Volksmenge und die Obersten der Stadt, als sie dies hörten.

Und nachdem sie von Jason und den Übrigen Bürgschaft genommen hatten, entließen sie dieselben.

Die Brüder aber sandten sogleich in der Nacht sowohl Paulus als Silas nach Beröa, die, als sie angekommen waren, in die Synagoge der Juden gingen.

Entonces los hermanos, luego de noche, enviaron á Pablo y á Silas á Berea; los cuales habiendo llegado, entraron en la sinagoga de los Judíos.

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Beroea. When they arrived, they went into the Jewish synagogue.

Diese aber waren edler als die in Thessalonich; sie nahmen mit aller Bereitwilligkeit das Wort auf, indem sie täglich die Schriften untersuchten, ob dies sich so verhielte.

Y fueron éstos más nobles que los que estaban en Tesalónica, pues recibieron la palabra con toda solicitud, escudriñando cada día las Escrituras, si estas cosas eran así.

Als aber die Juden von Thessalonich erfuhren, dass auch in Beröa das Wort Gottes von Paulus verkündigt wurde, kamen sie auch dorthin und erregten die Volksmengen.

Mas como entendieron los Judíos de Tesalónica que también en Berea era anunciada la palabra de Dios por Pablo, fueron, y también allí tumultuaron al pueblo.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Da sandten aber die Brüder sogleich den Paulus fort, um nach dem Meer hin zu gehen. Aber sowohl Silas als Timotheus blieben dort.

Empero luego los hermanos enviaron á Pablo que fuese como á la mar; y Silas y Timoteo se quedaron allí.

And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Then the brothers immediately sent out Paul to go as far as to the sea, and Silas and Timothy still stayed there.

Die aber den Paulus geleiteten, brachten ihn bis nach Athen; und als sie für Silas und Timotheus Befehl empfangen hatten, dass sie sobald wie möglich zu ihm kommen sollten, reisten sie ab.

Y los que habían tomado á cargo á Pablo, le llevaron hasta Atenas; y tomando encargo para Silas y Timoteo, que viniesen á él lo más presto que pudiesen, partieron.

And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

But those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.

Während aber Paulus sie in Athen erwartete, wurde sein Geist in ihm erregt, da er die Stadt voll von Götzenbildern sah.

Y esperándolos Pablo en Atenas, su espíritu se deshacía en él viendo la ciudad dada á idolatría.

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

Er unterredete sich nun in der Synagoge mit den Juden und mit den Anbetern, und auf dem Markt an jedem Tag mit denen, die gerade herzukamen.

Así que, disputaba en la sinagoga con los Judíos y religiosos; y en la plaza cada día con los que le ocurrían.

Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who met him.

Aber auch einige der epikuräischen und stoischen Philosophen griffen ihn an; und einige sagten: Was will doch dieser Schwätzer sagen?, andere aber: Er scheint ein Verkündiger fremder Götter zu sein, weil er †ihnen das Evangelium von Jesus und der Auferstehung verkündigte.

Y algunos filósofos de los Epicúreos y de los Estóicos, disputaban con él; y unos decían: ¿Qué quiere decir este palabrero? Y otros: Parece que es predicador de nuevos dioses: porque les predicaba á Jesús y la resurrección.

Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be advocating foreign deities,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.

Und sie ergriffen ihn, führten ihn zum Areopag und sagten: Können wir erfahren, was diese neue Lehre ist, von der du redest?

Y tomándole, le trajeron al Areópago, diciendo: ¿Podremos saber qué sea esta nueva doctrina que dices?

And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

They took hold of him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is, which you are speaking about?

denn du bringst etwas Fremdes vor unsere Ohren. Wir möchten nun wissen, was das sein mag.

Porque pones en nuestros oídos unas nuevas cosas: queremos pues saber qué quiere ser esto.

For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

For you bring certain strange things to our ears. We want to know therefore what these things mean.”

Alle Athener aber und die Fremden, die sich da aufhielten, brachten ihre Zeit mit nichts anderem zu, als etwas Neues zu sagen und zu hören.

(Entonces todos los Atenienses y los huéspedes extranjeros, en ninguna otra cosa entendían, sino ó en decir ó en oir alguna cosa nueva.)

Paulus aber stand mitten auf dem Areopag und sprach: Männer von Athen, ich sehe, dass ihr in jeder Beziehung den Göttern sehr ergeben seid.

Estando pues Pablo en medio del Areópago, dijo: Varones Atenienses, en todo os veo como más supersticiosos;

Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said, “You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.

Denn als ich umherging und die Gegenstände eurer Verehrung betrachtete, fand ich auch einen Altar, an dem die Aufschrift war: Dem unbekannten Gott. Den ihr nun, ohne ihn zu kennen, verehrt, diesen verkündige ich euch.

Porque pasando y mirando vuestros santuarios, hallé también un altar en el cual estaba esta inscripción: AL DIOS NO CONOCIDO. Aquél pues, que vosotros honráis sin conocerle, á éste os anuncio yo.

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ What therefore you worship in ignorance, I announce to you.

Der Gott, der die Welt gemacht hat und alles, was darinnen ist, dieser, indem er der Herr des Himmels und der Erde ist, wohnt nicht in Tempeln, die mit Händen gemacht sind,

El Dios que hizo el mundo y todas las cosas que en él hay, éste, como sea Señor del cielo y de la tierra, no habita en templos hechos de manos,

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.

noch wird er von Menschenhänden bedient, als wenn er noch etwas bedürfe, da er selbst allen Leben und Odem und alles gibt.

Ni es honrado con manos de hombres, necesitado de algo; pues él da á todos vida, y respiración, y todas las cosas;

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

He isn’t served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.

Und er hat aus einem Blut jede Nation der Menschen gemacht, um auf dem ganzen Erdboden zu wohnen, indem er verordnete Zeiten und die Grenzen ihrer Wohnung bestimmt hat,

Y de una sangre ha hecho todo el linaje de los hombres, para que habitasen sobre toda la faz de la tierra; y les ha prefijado el orden de los tiempos, y los términos de la habitación de ellos;

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons and the boundaries of their dwellings,

dass sie Gott suchen, ob sie ihn wohl tastend fühlen und finden möchten, obwohl er nicht fern ist von jedem von uns.

Para que buscasen á Dios, si en alguna manera, palpando, le hallen; aunque cierto no está lejos de cada uno de nosotros:

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

Denn in ihm leben und weben und sind wir, wie auch einige eurer Dichter gesagt haben: „Denn wir sind auch sein Geschlecht“.

Porque en él vivimos, y nos movemos, y somos; como también algunos de vuestros poetas dijeron: Porque linaje de éste somos también.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Da wir nun Gottes Geschlecht sind, so sollen wir nicht meinen, dass das Göttliche dem Gold oder Silber oder Stein, einem Gebilde der Kunst und der Erfindung des Menschen, gleich sei.

Siendo pues linaje de Dios, no hemos de estimar la Divinidad ser semejante á oro, ó á plata, ó á piedra, escultura de artificio ó de imaginación de hombres.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.

Nachdem nun Gott die Zeiten der Unwissenheit übersehen hat, gebietet er jetzt den Menschen, dass sie alle allenthalben Buße tun sollen,

Empero Dios, habiendo disimulado los tiempos de esta ignorancia, ahora denuncia á todos los hombres en todos los lugares que se arrepientan:

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

weil er einen Tag gesetzt hat, an dem er den Erdkreis richten wird in Gerechtigkeit durch einen Mann, den er dazu bestimmt hat, und hat allen den Beweis davon gegeben, indem er ihn auferweckt hat aus den Toten.

Por cuanto ha establecido un día, en el cual ha de juzgar al mundo con justicia, por aquel varón al cual determinó; dando fe á todos con haberle levantado de los muertos.

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Als sie aber von Toten-Auferstehung hörten, spotteten die einen, die anderen aber sprachen: Wir wollen dich darüber auch nochmals hören.

Y así como oyeron de la resurrección de los muertos, unos se burlaban, y otros decían: Te oiremos acerca de esto otra vez.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

So ging Paulus aus ihrer Mitte weg.

Einige Männer aber schlossen sich ihm an und glaubten, unter denen auch Dionysius war, der Areopagiter, und eine Frau, mit Namen Damaris, und andere mit ihnen.

Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
