Paul et Silas passèrent par Amphipolis et Apollonie, et ils arrivèrent à Thessalonique, où les Juifs avaient une synagogue.

Y PASANDO por Amphípolis y Apolonia, llegaron á Tesalónica, donde estaba la sinagoga de los Judíos.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”

Quelques-uns d’entre eux furent persuadés, et se joignirent à Paul et à Silas, ainsi qu’une grande multitude de Grecs craignant Dieu, et beaucoup de femmes de qualité.

Y algunos de ellos creyeron, y se juntaron con Pablo y con Silas; y de los Griegos religiosos grande multitud, y mujeres nobles no pocas.

And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Mais les Juifs, jaloux prirent avec eux quelques méchants hommes de la populace, provoquèrent des attroupements, et répandirent l’agitation dans la ville. Ils se portèrent à la maison de Jason, et ils cherchèrent Paul et Silas, pour les amener vers le peuple.

Entonces los Judíos que eran incrédulos, teniendo celos, tomaron consigo á algunos ociosos, malos hombres, y juntando compañía, alborotaron la ciudad; y acometiendo á la casa de Jasón, procuraban sacarlos al pueblo.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.

Ne les ayant pas trouvés, ils traînèrent Jason et quelques frères devant les magistrats de la ville, en criant: Ces gens, qui ont bouleversé le monde, sont aussi venus ici, et Jason les a reçus.

Mas no hallándolos, trajeron á Jasón y á algunos hermanos á los gobernadores de la ciudad, dando voces: Estos que alborotan el mundo, también han venido acá;

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

Ils agissent tous contre les édits de César, disant qu’il y a un autre roi, Jésus.

A los cuales Jasón ha recibido; y todos estos hacen contra los decretos de César, diciendo que hay otro rey, Jesús.

Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Cæsar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.

Par ces paroles ils émurent la foule et les magistrats,

Y alborotaron al pueblo y á los gobernadores de la ciudad, oyendo estas cosas.

qui ne laissèrent aller Jason et les autres qu’après avoir obtenu d’eux une caution.

Aussitôt les frères firent partir de nuit Paul et Silas pour Bérée. Lorsqu’ils furent arrivés, ils entrèrent dans la synagogue des Juifs.

Entonces los hermanos, luego de noche, enviaron á Pablo y á Silas á Berea; los cuales habiendo llegado, entraron en la sinagoga de los Judíos.

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

Ces Juifs avaient des sentiments plus nobles que ceux de Thessalonique; ils reçurent la parole avec beaucoup d’empressement, et ils examinaient chaque jour les Écritures, pour voir si ce qu’on leur disait était exact.

Y fueron éstos más nobles que los que estaban en Tesalónica, pues recibieron la palabra con toda solicitud, escudriñando cada día las Escrituras, si estas cosas eran así.

Mas como entendieron los Judíos de Tesalónica que también en Berea era anunciada la palabra de Dios por Pablo, fueron, y también allí tumultuaron al pueblo.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Alors les frères firent aussitôt partir Paul du côté de la mer; Silas et Timothée restèrent à Bérée.

Empero luego los hermanos enviaron á Pablo que fuese como á la mar; y Silas y Timoteo se quedaron allí.

And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Then the brothers immediately sent out Paul to go as far as to the sea, and Silas and Timothy still stayed there.

Ceux qui accompagnaient Paul le conduisirent jusqu’à Athènes. Puis ils s’en retournèrent, chargés de transmettre à Silas et à Timothée l’ordre de le rejoindre au plus tôt.

Y los que habían tomado á cargo á Pablo, le llevaron hasta Atenas; y tomando encargo para Silas y Timoteo, que viniesen á él lo más presto que pudiesen, partieron.

And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

But those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.

Comme Paul les attendait à Athènes, il sentait au-dedans de lui son esprit s’irriter, à la vue de cette ville pleine d’idoles.

Y esperándolos Pablo en Atenas, su espíritu se deshacía en él viendo la ciudad dada á idolatría.

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

Il s’entretenait donc dans la synagogue avec les Juifs et les hommes craignant Dieu, et sur la place publique chaque jour avec ceux qu’il rencontrait.

Así que, disputaba en la sinagoga con los Judíos y religiosos; y en la plaza cada día con los que le ocurrían.

Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who met him.

Quelques philosophes épicuriens et stoïciens se mirent à parler avec lui. Et les uns disaient: Que veut dire ce discoureur? D’autres, l’entendant annoncer Jésus et la résurrection, disaient: Il semble qu’il annonce des divinités étrangères.

Y algunos filósofos de los Epicúreos y de los Estóicos, disputaban con él; y unos decían: ¿Qué quiere decir este palabrero? Y otros: Parece que es predicador de nuevos dioses: porque les predicaba á Jesús y la resurrección.

Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be advocating foreign deities,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.

Alors ils le prirent, et le menèrent à l’Aréopage, en disant: Pourrions-nous savoir quelle est cette nouvelle doctrine que tu enseignes?

Y tomándole, le trajeron al Areópago, diciendo: ¿Podremos saber qué sea esta nueva doctrina que dices?

And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

They took hold of him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is, which you are speaking about?

Car tu nous fais entendre des choses étranges. Nous voudrions donc savoir ce que cela peut être.

Porque pones en nuestros oídos unas nuevas cosas: queremos pues saber qué quiere ser esto.

For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

For you bring certain strange things to our ears. We want to know therefore what these things mean.”

Or, tous les Athéniens et les étrangers demeurant à Athènes ne passaient leur temps qu’à dire ou à écouter des nouvelles.

(Entonces todos los Atenienses y los huéspedes extranjeros, en ninguna otra cosa entendían, sino ó en decir ó en oir alguna cosa nueva.)

(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)

Paul, debout au milieu de l’Aréopage, dit: Hommes Athéniens, je vous trouve à tous égards extrêmement religieux.

Estando pues Pablo en medio del Areópago, dijo: Varones Atenienses, en todo os veo como más supersticiosos;

Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said, “You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.

Car, en parcourant votre ville et en considérant les objets de votre dévotion, j’ai même découvert un autel avec cette inscription: A un dieu inconnu! Ce que vous révérez sans le connaître, c’est ce que je vous annonce.

Porque pasando y mirando vuestros santuarios, hallé también un altar en el cual estaba esta inscripción: AL DIOS NO CONOCIDO. Aquél pues, que vosotros honráis sin conocerle, á éste os anuncio yo.

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ What therefore you worship in ignorance, I announce to you.

Le Dieu qui a fait le monde et tout ce qui s’y trouve, étant le Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, n’habite point dans des temples faits de main d’homme;

El Dios que hizo el mundo y todas las cosas que en él hay, éste, como sea Señor del cielo y de la tierra, no habita en templos hechos de manos,

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.

il n’est point servi par des mains humaines, comme s’il avait besoin de quoi que ce soit, lui qui donne à tous la vie, la respiration, et toutes choses.

Ni es honrado con manos de hombres, necesitado de algo; pues él da á todos vida, y respiración, y todas las cosas;

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

He isn’t served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.

Il a fait que tous les hommes, sortis d’un seul sang, habitassent sur toute la surface de la terre, ayant déterminé la durée des temps et les bornes de leur demeure;

Y de una sangre ha hecho todo el linaje de los hombres, para que habitasen sobre toda la faz de la tierra; y les ha prefijado el orden de los tiempos, y los términos de la habitación de ellos;

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

il a voulu qu’ils cherchassent le Seigneur, et qu’ils s’efforçassent de le trouver en tâtonnant, bien qu’il ne soit pas loin de chacun de nous,

Para que buscasen á Dios, si en alguna manera, palpando, le hallen; aunque cierto no está lejos de cada uno de nosotros:

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

car en lui nous avons la vie, le mouvement, et l’être. C’est ce qu’ont dit aussi quelques-uns de vos poètes: De lui nous sommes la race…

Porque en él vivimos, y nos movemos, y somos; como también algunos de vuestros poetas dijeron: Porque linaje de éste somos también.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’

Ainsi donc, étant la race de Dieu, nous ne devons pas croire que la divinité soit semblable à de l’or, à de l’argent, ou à de la pierre, sculptés par l’art et l’industrie de l’homme.

Siendo pues linaje de Dios, no hemos de estimar la Divinidad ser semejante á oro, ó á plata, ó á piedra, escultura de artificio ó de imaginación de hombres.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.

Dieu, sans tenir compte des temps d’ignorance, annonce maintenant à tous les hommes, en tous lieux, qu’ils aient à se repentir,

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

The times of ignorance therefore God overlooked. But now he commands that all people everywhere should repent,

parce qu’il a fixé un jour où il jugera le monde selon la justice, par l’homme qu’il a désigné, ce dont il a donné à tous une preuve certaine en le ressuscitant des morts…

Por cuanto ha establecido un día, en el cual ha de juzgar al mundo con justicia, por aquel varón al cual determinó; dando fe á todos con haberle levantado de los muertos.

Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Lorsqu’ils entendirent parler de résurrection des morts, les uns se moquèrent, et les autres dirent: Nous t’entendrons là-dessus une autre fois.

Y así como oyeron de la resurrección de los muertos, unos se burlaban, y otros decían: Te oiremos acerca de esto otra vez.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

Ainsi Paul se retira du milieu d’eux.

Quelques-uns néanmoins s’attachèrent à lui et crurent, Denys l’aréopagite, une femme nommée Damaris, et d’autres avec eux.

Mas algunos creyeron, juntándose con él; entre los cuales también fué Dionisio el del Areópago, y una mujer llamada Dámaris, y otros con ellos.

Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
