Sie reisten aber durch Amphipolis und Apollonia und kamen nach Thessalonich, wo eine Synagoge der Juden war.

Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews:

Paulus aber ging nach seiner Gewohnheit zu ihnen hinein und redete an drei Sabbaten mit ihnen auf Grund der Schrift,

Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.

explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.”

Und etliche von ihnen ließen sich überzeugen und schlossen sich Paulus und Silas an, auch von den gottesfürchtigen Griechen eine große Menge, und von den vornehmsten Frauen nicht wenige.

Y algunos de ellos creyeron, y se juntaron con Pablo y con Silas; y de los Griegos religiosos grande multitud, y mujeres nobles no pocas.

And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.

Aber die ungläubigen Juden wurden voll Neid und gewannen etliche boshafte Leute vom Straßenpöbel, machten Lärm und brachten die Stadt in Aufruhr, drangen auf das Haus Jasons ein und suchten sie, um sie vor das Volk zu führen.

Entonces los Judíos que eran incrédulos, teniendo celos, tomaron consigo á algunos ociosos, malos hombres, y juntando compañía, alborotaron la ciudad; y acometiendo á la casa de Jasón, procuraban sacarlos al pueblo.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

But the unpersuaded Jews took along some wicked men from the marketplace and gathering a crowd, set the city in an uproar. Assaulting the house of Jason, they sought to bring them out to the people.

Als sie sie aber nicht fanden, schleppten sie Jason und etliche Brüder vor die Obersten der Stadt und schrieen: Diese Leute, welche in der ganzen Welt Unruhe stiften, sind jetzt auch hier;

Mas no hallándolos, trajeron á Jasón y á algunos hermanos á los gobernadores de la ciudad, dando voces: Estos que alborotan el mundo, también han venido acá;

And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;

When they didn’t find them, they dragged Jason and certain brothers before the rulers of the city, crying, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here also,

Jason hat sie aufgenommen! Und doch handeln sie alle wider die Verordnungen des Kaisers, indem sie sagen, ein anderer sei König, nämlich Jesus!

A los cuales Jasón ha recibido; y todos estos hacen contra los decretos de César, diciendo que hay otro rey, Jesús.

Sie brachten aber das Volk und die Stadtobersten, welche dies hörten, in Aufregung,

Y alborotaron al pueblo y á los gobernadores de la ciudad, oyendo estas cosas.

And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

so daß sie Jason und die übrigen nur gegen Bürgschaft freiließen.

Die Brüder aber schickten alsbald während der Nacht Paulus und Silas nach Beröa, wo sie sich nach ihrer Ankunft in die Synagoge der Juden begaben.

Entonces los hermanos, luego de noche, enviaron á Pablo y á Silas á Berea; los cuales habiendo llegado, entraron en la sinagoga de los Judíos.

And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Beroea. When they arrived, they went into the Jewish synagogue.

Diese aber waren edler gesinnt als die zu Thessalonich, indem sie das Wort mit aller Bereitwilligkeit aufnahmen und täglich in der Schrift forschten, ob es sich also verhalte.

Y fueron éstos más nobles que los que estaban en Tesalónica, pues recibieron la palabra con toda solicitud, escudriñando cada día las Escrituras, si estas cosas eran así.

Es wurden denn auch viele von ihnen gläubig, auch von den angesehenen griechischen Frauen und Männern nicht wenige.

Als aber die Juden von Thessalonich erfuhren, daß auch zu Beröa das Wort Gottes von Paulus verkündigt wurde, kamen sie auch dahin und erregten und bewegten das Volk.

Mas como entendieron los Judíos de Tesalónica que también en Berea era anunciada la palabra de Dios por Pablo, fueron, y también allí tumultuaron al pueblo.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Alsbald aber sandten da die Brüder den Paulus fort, damit er bis ans Meer ziehe; Silas aber und Timotheus blieben daselbst zurück.

Empero luego los hermanos enviaron á Pablo que fuese como á la mar; y Silas y Timoteo se quedaron allí.

And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus abode there still.

Then the brothers immediately sent out Paul to go as far as to the sea, and Silas and Timothy still stayed there.

Die nun, welche den Paulus geleiteten, brachten ihn bis nach Athen; und nachdem sie den Auftrag an Silas und Timotheus empfangen hatten, daß sie so bald als möglich zu ihm kommen sollten, zogen sie fort.

Y los que habían tomado á cargo á Pablo, le llevaron hasta Atenas; y tomando encargo para Silas y Timoteo, que viniesen á él lo más presto que pudiesen, partieron.

And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus for to come to him with all speed, they departed.

But those who escorted Paul brought him as far as Athens. Receiving a commandment to Silas and Timothy that they should come to him very quickly, they departed.

Während aber Paulus in Athen auf sie wartete, ergrimmte sein Geist in ihm, da er die Stadt so voll Götzenbilder sah.

Y esperándolos Pablo en Atenas, su espíritu se deshacía en él viendo la ciudad dada á idolatría.

Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.

Er hatte nun in der Synagoge Unterredungen mit den Juden und den Gottesfürchtigen, auch täglich auf dem Markte mit denen, welche zugegen waren.

Así que, disputaba en la sinagoga con los Judíos y religiosos; y en la plaza cada día con los que le ocurrían.

Therefore disputed he in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market daily with them that met with him.

So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who met him.

Aber etliche der epikureischen und stoischen Philosophen maßen sich mit ihm; und etliche sprachen: Was will doch dieser Krächzer sagen? Andere aber: Er scheint ein Verkündiger fremder Götter zu sein! weil er ihnen das Evangelium von Jesus und der Auferstehung verkündigte.

Y algunos filósofos de los Epicúreos y de los Estóicos, disputaban con él; y unos decían: ¿Qué quiere decir este palabrero? Y otros: Parece que es predicador de nuevos dioses: porque les predicaba á Jesús y la resurrección.

Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.

Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also were conversing with him. Some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be advocating foreign deities,” because he preached Jesus and the resurrection.

Und sie nahmen ihn und führten ihn auf den Areopag und sprachen: Können wir erfahren, was das für eine neue Lehre sei, die von dir vorgetragen wird?

Y tomándole, le trajeron al Areópago, diciendo: ¿Podremos saber qué sea esta nueva doctrina que dices?

And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new doctrine, whereof thou speakest, is?

They took hold of him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is, which you are speaking about?

Denn du bringst etwas Fremdartiges vor unsere Ohren; so wollen wir nun erfahren, was das sein soll!

Porque pones en nuestros oídos unas nuevas cosas: queremos pues saber qué quiere ser esto.

For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.

For you bring certain strange things to our ears. We want to know therefore what these things mean.”

Alle Athener nämlich, auch die Ausländer, die sich dort aufhielten, vertrieben sich mit nichts anderm so gerne die Zeit, als damit, etwas Neues zu sagen oder zu hören.

(Entonces todos los Atenienses y los huéspedes extranjeros, en ninguna otra cosa entendían, sino ó en decir ó en oir alguna cosa nueva.)

Da stellte sich Paulus mitten auf den Areopag und sprach: Ihr Männer von Athen, ich sehe an allem, daß ihr sehr religiöse Leute seid!

Estando pues Pablo en medio del Areópago, dijo: Varones Atenienses, en todo os veo como más supersticiosos;

Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus and said, “You men of Athens, I perceive that you are very religious in all things.

Denn als ich umherging und eure Heiligtümer besichtigte, fand ich auch einen Altar, an welchem geschrieben stand: «Dem unbekannten Gott.» Was ihr nun verehret, ohne es zu kennen, das verkündige ich euch.

Porque pasando y mirando vuestros santuarios, hallé también un altar en el cual estaba esta inscripción: AL DIOS NO CONOCIDO. Aquél pues, que vosotros honráis sin conocerle, á éste os anuncio yo.

For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: ‘TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.’ What therefore you worship in ignorance, I announce to you.

Der Gott, der die Welt gemacht hat und alles, was darin ist, er, der Herr des Himmels und der Erde, wohnt nicht in Tempeln von Händen gemacht;

El Dios que hizo el mundo y todas las cosas que en él hay, éste, como sea Señor del cielo y de la tierra, no habita en templos hechos de manos,

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn’t dwell in temples made with hands.

ihm wird auch nicht von Menschenhänden gedient, als ob er etwas bedürfte, da er ja selbst allen Leben und Odem und alles gibt.

Ni es honrado con manos de hombres, necesitado de algo; pues él da á todos vida, y respiración, y todas las cosas;

Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

He isn’t served by men’s hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.

Und er hat aus einem Blut das ganze Menschengeschlecht gemacht, daß es auf dem ganzen Erdboden wohne, und hat im voraus die Zeiten und die Grenzen ihres Wohnens bestimmt,

Y de una sangre ha hecho todo el linaje de los hombres, para que habitasen sobre toda la faz de la tierra; y les ha prefijado el orden de los tiempos, y los términos de la habitación de ellos;

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

He made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the surface of the earth, having determined appointed seasons and the boundaries of their dwellings,

daß sie den Herrn suchen sollten, ob sie ihn wohl spüren und finden möchten, da er ja nicht ferne ist von einem jeglichen unter uns;

Para que buscasen á Dios, si en alguna manera, palpando, le hallen; aunque cierto no está lejos de cada uno de nosotros:

That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

that they should seek the Lord, if perhaps they might reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

denn in ihm leben, weben und sind wir, wie auch einige von euren Dichtern gesagt haben: «Wir sind auch seines Geschlechts.»

Porque en él vivimos, y nos movemos, y somos; como también algunos de vuestros poetas dijeron: Porque linaje de éste somos también.

For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

Da wir nun göttlichen Geschlechts sind, sollen wir nicht meinen, die Gottheit sei dem Golde oder Silber oder Stein, einem Gebilde menschlicher Kunst und Erfindung gleich.

Siendo pues linaje de Dios, no hemos de estimar la Divinidad ser semejante á oro, ó á plata, ó á piedra, escultura de artificio ó de imaginación de hombres.

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold, or silver, or stone, engraved by art and design of man.

Nun hat zwar Gott die Zeiten der Unwissenheit übersehen, jetzt aber gebietet er allen Menschen allenthalben, Buße zu tun,

Por cuanto ha establecido un día, en el cual ha de juzgar al mundo con justicia, por aquel varón al cual determinó; dando fe á todos con haberle levantado de los muertos.

Da sie aber von Auferstehung der Toten hörten, spotteten die einen, die andern aber sprachen: Wir wollen dich darüber nochmals hören.

Y así como oyeron de la resurrección de los muertos, unos se burlaban, y otros decían: Te oiremos acerca de esto otra vez.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

Und so ging Paulus aus ihrer Mitte hinweg.

Einige Männer aber schlossen sich ihm an und wurden gläubig, unter ihnen auch Dionysius, ein Mitglied des Areopags, und eine Frau namens Damaris und andere mit ihnen.
