Hierauf verließ Paulus Athen und begab sich nach Korinth.

Dort traf er einen Juden namens Aquila, der aus Pontus stammte und erst vor kurzem mit seiner Frau Priscilla aus Italien gekommen war, weil (der Kaiser) Klaudius alle Juden aus Rom hatte ausweisen lassen. Paulus besuchte die beiden,

Y hallando á un Judío llamado Aquila, natural del Ponto, que hacía poco que había venido de Italia, y á Priscila su mujer, (porque Claudio había mandado que todos los Judíos saliesen de Roma) se vino á ellos;

And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

und weil er das gleiche Handwerk betrieb wie sie, blieb er bei ihnen wohnen und arbeitete mit ihnen zusammen; sie waren nämlich nach ihrem Handwerk Zeltmacher.

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

In der Synagoge aber besprach er sich an jedem Sabbat und suchte Juden wie Griechen zu gewinnen.

Als dann Silas und Timotheus aus Mazedonien eingetroffen waren, widmete Paulus sich ganz der Lehrtätigkeit und bezeugte den Juden nachdrücklich, daß Jesus der Gottgesalbte sei.

Weil sie aber nichts davon wissen wollten und Lästerreden führten, schüttelte er den Staub von seinen Kleidern ab und sagte zu ihnen: »Euer Blut komme auf euer Haupt: ich bin unschuldig! Von nun an wende ich mich an die Heiden!«

And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

Damit ging er von dort weg und begab sich in das Haus eines Heidenjuden namens Titius Justus, dessen Haus an die Synagoge anstieß.

Y partiendo de allí, entró en casa de uno llamado Justo, temeroso de Dios, la casa del cual estaba junto á la sinagoga.

And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

Crispus aber, der Vorsteher der Synagoge, wurde mit seinem ganzen Hause gläubig an den Herrn, und ebenso kamen viele Korinther, die Paulus predigen hörten, zum Glauben und ließen sich taufen.

Der Herr aber sagte zu Paulus bei Nacht in einem Traumgesicht: »Fürchte dich nicht, sondern rede weiter und schweige nicht;

denn ich bin mit dir, und niemand soll sich an dir vergreifen und dir ein Leid antun; denn ich habe ein zahlreiches Volk in dieser Stadt.«

Porque yo estoy contigo, y ninguno te podrá hacer mal; porque yo tengo mucho pueblo en esta ciudad.

For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city.”

So blieb denn Paulus anderthalb Jahre dort und lehrte das Wort Gottes unter ihnen.

Als aber Gallio Statthalter von Griechenland (geworden) war, traten die Juden einmütig gegen Paulus auf und führten ihn vor den Richterstuhl (des Statthalters)

Y siendo Galión procónsul de Acaya, los Judíos se levantaron de común acuerdo contra Pablo, y le llevaron al tribunal,

And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

mit der Beschuldigung: »Dieser Mensch verleitet die Leute zu einer Gottesverehrung, die gegen unser Gesetz verstößt.«

Diciendo: Que éste persuade á los hombres á honrar á Dios contra la ley.

Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

Als Paulus sich nun dagegen verantworten wollte, sagte Gallio zu den Juden: »Wenn irgendein Verbrechen oder ein böswilliges Vergehen vorläge, ihr Juden, so würde ich eure Klage selbstverständlich angenommen haben;

wenn es sich jedoch (nur) um Streitfragen über eine Lehre und über Benennungen und über das für euch gültige Gesetz handelt, so müßt ihr selbst zusehen: über solche Dinge will ich nicht Richter sein.«

Mas si son cuestiones de palabras, y de nombres, y de vuestra ley, vedlo vosotros; porque yo no quiero ser juez de estas cosas.

But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

but if they are questions about words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves. For I don’t want to be a judge of these matters.”

Damit wies er sie von seinem Richterstuhl weg.

Da fielen alle über Sosthenes, den Vorsteher der Synagoge, her und verprügelten ihn vor dem Richterstuhl; Gallio aber kümmerte sich nicht weiter darum.

Entonces todos los Griegos tomando á Sóstenes, prepósito de la sinagoga, le herían delante del tribunal: y á Galión nada se le daba de ello.

Nachdem Paulus dann noch längere Zeit (in Korinth) geblieben war, nahm er von den Brüdern Abschied und trat die Seefahrt nach Syrien an, und zwar zusammen mit Priscilla und Aquila, nachdem er sich in Kenchreä (dem östlichen Hafen Korinths) das Haupt hatte scheren lassen, weil er ein Gelübde getan hatte.

Mas Pablo habiéndose detenido aún allí muchos días, después se despidió de los hermanos, y navegó á Siria, y con él Priscila y Aquila, habiéndose trasquilado la cabeza en Cencreas, porque tenía voto.

And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

Paul, having stayed after this many more days, took his leave of the brothers, and sailed from there for Syria, together with Priscilla and Aquila. He shaved his head in Cenchreae, for he had a vow.

Sie kamen dann nach Ephesus, wo Paulus sich von jenen beiden trennte; er selbst aber ging in die Synagoge und unterredete sich mit den Juden.

Als sie ihn aber baten, er möchte noch länger dort bleiben, ging er nicht darauf ein,

sondern nahm Abschied von ihnen mit den Worten: »†Ich muß durchaus das bevorstehende Fest in Jerusalem feiern; aber so Gott will, werde ich später zu euch zurückkehren.« Dann fuhr er zu Schiff von Ephesus ab,

Sino que se despidió de ellos, diciendo: Es menester que en todo caso tenga la fiesta que viene, en Jerusalem; mas otra vez volveré á vosotros, queriendo Dios. Y partió de Efeso.

But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

but taking his leave of them, he said, “I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem, but I will return again to you if God wills.” Then he set sail from Ephesus.

landete in Cäsarea, ging (nach Jerusalem) hinauf, wo er die Gemeinde begrüßte, und zog dann nach Antiochia hinab.

Nachdem er dort einige Zeit zugebracht hatte, brach er wieder auf, durchwanderte von einem Ort zum anderen das galatische Land und Phrygien und stärkte überall die Jünger durch Zuspruch.

Y habiendo estado allí algún tiempo, partió, andando por orden la provincia de Galacia, y la Phrygia, confirmando á todos los discípulos.

And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

Inzwischen war ein Jude namens Apollos, der aus Alexandria stammte, ein gelehrter Mann, der in den (heiligen) Schriften außerordentlich bewandert war, nach Ephesus gekommen.

Llegó entonces á Efeso un Judío, llamado Apolos, natural de Alejandría, varón elocuente, poderoso en las Escrituras.

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

Er hatte Unterweisung über den Weg des Herrn erhalten, redete mit glühender Begeisterung und trug das auf Jesus Bezügliche richtig vor, obgleich er nur von der Taufe des Johannes wußte.

Este era instruído en el camino del Señor; y ferviente de espíritu, hablaba y enseñaba diligentemente las cosas que son del Señor, enseñando solamente en el bautismo de Juan.

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

Dieser Mann fing dann auch an, in der Synagoge freimütig zu reden. Als Priscilla und Aquila ihn gehört hatten, traten sie mit ihm in Verbindung und setzten ihm die Lehre Gottes noch genauer auseinander.

Y queriendo él pasar á Acaya, los hermanos exhortados, escribieron á los discípulos que le recibiesen; y venido él, aprovechó mucho por la gracia á los que habían creído:

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him; and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

denn in schlagender Weise widerlegte er die Juden öffentlich, indem er aus den (heiligen) Schriften nachwies, daß Jesus der Messias sei.

Porque con gran vehemencia convencía públicamente á los Judíos, mostrando por las Escrituras que Jesús era el Cristo.

For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.
