E enquanto Apolo estava em Corinto, aconteceu que, tendo Paulo passado por todas as regiões altas, ele veio a Éfeso; e achando ali alguns discípulos,

Y ACONTECIÓ que entre tanto que Apolos estaba en Corinto, Pablo, andadas las regiones superiores, vino á Efeso, y hallando ciertos discípulos,

And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

Disse-lhes: Vós já recebestes o Espírito Santo desde que crestes?E eles lhe disseram: Nós nem tínhamos ouvido falar que havia Espírito Santo.

Díjoles: ¿Habéis recibido el Espíritu Santo después que creísteis? Y ellos le dijeron: Antes ni aun hemos oído si hay Espíritu Santo.

He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

E ele lhes disse: Em que vós fostes batizados?E eles disseram: No batismo de João.

Entonces dijo: ¿En qué pues sois bautizados? Y ellos dijeron: En el bautismo de Juan.

And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.

He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”

Então Paulo disse: João verdadeiramente batizou com o batismo do arrependimento, dizendo ao povo que cressem naquele que viria após ele, isto é, em Jesus Cristo.

Y dijo Pablo: Juan bautizó con bautismo de arrepentimiento, diciendo al pueblo que creyesen en el que había de venir después de él, es á saber, en Jesús el Cristo.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Paul said, “John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”

Ao ouvirem isto , eles foram batizados no nome do Senhor Jesus.

Oído que hubieron esto, fueron bautizados en el nombre del Señor Jesús.

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

E Paulo, impondo-lhes as mãos, veio sobre eles o Espírito Santo; e falavam em línguas, e profetizavam.

E todos os homens eram cerca de doze.

And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.

Mas quando alguns se endureceram, e não creram, e falando mal do Caminho diante da multidão, ele se desviou deles; e separou aos discípulos, disputando a cada dia na escola de um certo Tirano.

Mas endureciéndose algunos y no creyendo, maldiciendo el Camino delante de la multitud, apartándose Pablo de ellos separó á los discípulos, disputando cada día en la escuela de un cierto Tyranno.

But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.

E isto aconteceu durante dois anos; de tal maneira que todos os que habitavam na Ásia tinham ouvido a palavra do Senhor Jesus, tanto judeus como gregos.

Y esto fué por espacio de dos años; de manera que todos los que habitaban en Asia, Judíos y Griegos, oyeron la palabra del Señor Jesús.

And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

E Deus fazia milagres extraordinários pelas mãos de Paulo,

Y hacía Dios singulares maravillas por manos de Pablo:

De tal maneira que até os lenços e aventais de seu corpo eram levados aos enfermos, e as doenças os deixavam, e os espíritos malignos saíam deles.

De tal manera que aun se llevaban sobre los enfermos los sudarios y los pañuelos de su cuerpo, y las enfermedades se iban de ellos, y los malos espíritus salían de ellos.

So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

E alguns exorcistas dos judeus, itinerantes, tentaram invocar o nome do Senhor Jesus sobre os que tinham espíritos malignos, dizendo: Nós vos repreendemos por Jesus, a quem Paulo prega.

Y algunos de los Judíos, exorcistas vagabundos, tentaron á invocar el nombre del Señor Jesús sobre los que tenían espíritus malos, diciendo: Os conjuro por Jesús, el que Pablo predica.

Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

But some of the itinerant Jews, exorcists, took on themselves to invoke over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”

E eram sete filhos de Ceva, judeu, chefe dos sacerdotes, os que faziam isto.

Y había siete hijos de un tal Sceva, Judío, príncipe de los sacerdotes, que hacían esto.

And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

Mas o espírito maligno respondeu: Eu conheço Jesus, e sei quem é Paulo; mas vós, quem sois?

And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

E o homem em quem estava o espírito maligno saltou sobre eles, e dominando-os, foi mais forte do que eles; de tal maneira que eles fugiram nus e feridos daquela casa.

Y el hombre en quien estaba el espíritu malo, saltando en ellos, y enseñoreándose de ellos, pudo más que ellos, de tal manera que huyeron de aquella casa desnudos y heridos.

And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

E isto se fez conhecido a todos que habitavam em Éfeso, tanto a judeus como a gregos; e caiu temor sobre todos eles; e assim foi engrandecido o nome do Senhor Jesus.

Y esto fué notorio á todos, así Judíos como Griegos, los que habitaban en Efeso: y cayó temor sobre todos ellos, y era ensalzado el nombre del Señor Jesús.

And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

E muitos dos que criam vinham, confessando e declararando as suas atitudes.

Y muchos de los que habían creído, venían, confesando y dando cuenta de sus hechos.

And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.

Também muitos dos que praticavam ocultismo trouxeram seus livros, e os queimaram na presença de todos; e calcularam o preço deles, e acharam que custavam cinquenta mil moedas de prata.

Assim a palavra do Senhor crescia e prevalecia poderosamente.

E quando se cumpriram estas coisas, Paulo propôs em espírito que, passando pela Macedônia e Acaia, ir até Jerusalém, dizendo: Depois de eu estar lá, também tenho que ver Roma.

Y acabadas estas cosas, se propuso Pablo en espíritu partir á Jerusalem, después de andada Macedonia y Acaya, diciendo: Después que hubiere estado allá, me será menester ver también á Roma.

After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.

E ele, tendo enviado à Macedônia dois daqueles que o serviam, Timóteo e Erasto, ele ficou por algum tempo na Ásia.

So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.

Mas naquele tempo aconteceu um não pequeno alvoroço quanto ao Caminho .

Entonces hubo un alboroto no pequeño acerca del Camino.

And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.

Porque um certo artífice de prata, de nome Demétrio, que fazia objetos de prata para o templo de Diana , e dava não pouco lucro aos artesãos.

For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;

Aos quais, tendo os reunido com os trabalhadores de semelhantes coisas, disse: Homens, vós sabeis que deste ofício temos nossa prosperidade.

A los cuales, reunidos con los oficiales de semejante oficio, dijo: Varones, sabéis que de este oficio tenemos ganancia;

Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.

E vós estais vendo e ouvindo que este Paulo, não somente em Éfeso, mas até quase em toda a Ásia, tem persuadido e apartado uma grande multidão, dizendo que não são deuses os que são feitos com as mãos.

Y veis y oís que este Pablo, no solamente en Efeso, sino á muchas gentes de casi toda el Asia, ha apartado con persuasión, diciendo, que no son dioses los que se hacen con las manos.

Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

You see and hear that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods that are made with hands.

E não somente há perigo de que isto torne nosso ofício em desprezo, mas também que até o tempo da grande deusa Diana seja considerado inútil, e que a grandiosidade dela, a quem toda a Ásia e o mundo venera, venha a ser destruída.

Y no solamente hay peligro de que este negocio se nos vuelva en reproche, sino también que el templo de la gran diosa Diana sea estimado en nada, y comience á ser destruída su majestad, la cual honra toda el Asia y el mundo.

So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”

E eles, ao ouvirem estas coisas ,encheram-se de ira, e clamaram, dizendo: Grande é a Diana dos efésios!

Oídas estas cosas, llenáronse de ira, y dieron alarido, diciendo: ¡Grande es Diana de los Efesios!

And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

When they heard this they were filled with anger, and cried out, saying, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”

E toda a cidade se encheu de tumulto, e em concordância eles invadiram ao teatro, tomando consigo Gaio e Aristarco, macedônios, companheiros de Paulo na viagem.

Y la ciudad se llenó de confusión; y unánimes se arrojaron al teatro, arrebatando á Gayo y á Aristarco, Macedonios, compañeros de Pablo.

And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.

E Paulo, querendo comparecer diante do povo, os discípulos não o permitiram.

And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.

E também alguns dos líderes da Ásia, que eram amigos dele, enviaram-lhe aviso , rogando-lhe para que não se apresentasse no teatro.

También algunos de los principales de Asia, que eran sus amigos, enviaron á él rogando que no se presentase en el teatro.

And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

Certain also of the Asiarchs, being his friends, sent to him and begged him not to venture into the theater.

Então gritavam, alguns de uma maneira , outros de outra; porque a aglomeração estava confusa; e a maioria não sabia por que causa estavam aglomerados.

Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.

E tiraram da multidão a Alexandre, os judeus o pondo para a frente. E Alexandre, acenando com a mão, queria se defender ao povo.

Mas ao saberem que ele era judeu, levantou-se uma voz de todos, clamando por cerca de duas horas: Grande é a Diana dos efésios!

Mas como conocieron que era Judío, fué hecha un voz de todos, que gritaron casi por dos horas: ¡Grande es Diana de los Efesios!

But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

E o escrivão, tendo apaziguado a multidão, disse: Homens efésios, quem não sabe que a cidade dos efésios é a guardadora do templo da grande deusa Diana, e da imagem que desceu do céu?

Entonces el escribano, apaciguado que hubo la gente, dijo: Varones Efesios, ¿y quién hay de los hombres que no sepa que la ciudad de los Efesios es honradora de la gran diosa Diana, y de la imagen venida de Júpiter?

And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?

Portanto, sendo que estas coisas não podem ser contraditas, vós deveis vos acalmar, e nada façais precipitadamente;

Así que, pues esto no puede ser contradicho, conviene que os apacigüéis, y que nada hagáis temerariamente;

Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

Seeing then that these things can’t be denied, you ought to be quiet and to do nothing rash.

Porque vós trouxestes aqui estes homens, que nem são sacrílegos, nem blasfemam de vossa deusa.

Pues habéis traído á estos hombres, sin ser sacrílegos ni blasfemadores de vuestra diosa.

For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

For you have brought these men here, who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess.

Então se Demétrio e os artesãos que estão com ele tem algum assunto contra ele, os tribunais estão abertos, e há procônsules; que se acusem uns aos outros.

Que si Demetrio y los oficiales que están con él tienen negocio con alguno, audiencias se hacen, y procónsules hay; acúsense los unos á los otros.

Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.

If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.

E se procurais alguma outra coisa, será decidido em uma reunião legalizada.

Y si demandáis alguna otra cosa, en legítima asamblea se pueda decidir.

But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.

Porque corremos perigo de que hoje sejamos acusados de rebelião, tendo causa nenhuma para dar como explicação para este tumulto.

Porque peligro hay de que seamos argüidos de sedición por hoy, no habiendo ninguna causa por la cual podamos dar razón de este concurso. Y habiendo dicho esto, despidió la concurrencia.

For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.

For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”

E tendo dito isto, despediu o ajuntamento.
