Es geschah aber, da Apollos zu Korinth war, daß Paulus durchwandelte die obern Lander und kam gen Ephesus und fand etliche Junger.

Y ACONTECIÓ que entre tanto que Apolos estaba en Corinto, Pablo, andadas las regiones superiores, vino á Efeso, y hallando ciertos discípulos,

Zu denen sprach er: Habt ihr den Heiligen Geist empfangen, da ihr glaubig worden seid? Sie sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben auch nie gehort, ob ein Heiliger Geist sei.

Díjoles: ¿Habéis recibido el Espíritu Santo después que creísteis? Y ellos le dijeron: Antes ni aun hemos oído si hay Espíritu Santo.

He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

He said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” They said to him, “No, we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Worauf seid ihr denn getauft? Sie sprachen: Auf die Taufe des Johannes.

Entonces dijo: ¿En qué pues sois bautizados? Y ellos dijeron: En el bautismo de Juan.

And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.

He said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.”

Paulus aber sprach: Johannes hat getauft mit der Taufe der Buüe und sagte dem Volk, daü sie sollten glauben an den, der nach ihm kommen sollte, das ist, an Jesum, daü der Christus sei.

Y dijo Pablo: Juan bautizó con bautismo de arrepentimiento, diciendo al pueblo que creyesen en el que había de venir después de él, es á saber, en Jesús el Cristo.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Da sie das horeten, lielien sie sich taufen auf den Namen des Herrn Jesu.

Da aber etliche verstockt waren und nicht glaubten und ubel redeten von dem Wege vor der Menge, wich er von ihnen und sonderte ab die Junger und redete taglich in der Schule eines, der hiefi Tyrannus.

Und dasselbige geschah zwei Jahre lang, also daß alle, die in Asien wohneten, das Wort des Herrn Jesu horeten, beide, Juden und Griechen.

Und Gottwirkete nicht geringe Taten durch die Hande des Paulus,

Es unterwanden sich aber etliche der umlaufenden Juden, die da Beschworer waren, den Namen des Herrn Jesu zu nennen uber die da bose Geister hatten, und sprachen: Wir beschworen euch bei Jesu, den Paulus prediget.

Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

Es waren ihrer aber sieben Sohne eines Juden, Skeva, des Hohenpriesters, die solches taten.

Es kamen auch viel derer, die glaubig waren worden, und bekannten und verkundigten, was sie ausgerichtet hatten.

Da das ausgerichtet war, setzte sich Paulus vor im Geiste, durch Mazedonien und Achaja zu reisen und gen Jerusalem zu wandeln, und sprach: Nach dem, wenn ich daselbst gewesen bin, muli ich auch Rom sehen.

Y acabadas estas cosas, se propuso Pablo en espíritu partir á Jerusalem, después de andada Macedonia y Acaya, diciendo: Después que hubiere estado allá, me será menester ver también á Roma.

Es erhub sich aber urn dieselbige Zeit eine nicht kleine Bewegung uber diesem Wege.

Entonces hubo un alboroto no pequeño acerca del Camino.

Denn einer mit Namen Demetrius, ein Goldschmied, der machte der Diana silberne Tempel und wandte denen vom Handwerk nicht geringen Gewinst zu.

Porque un platero llamado Demetrio, el cual hacía de plata templecillos de Diana, daba á los artífices no poca ganancia;

For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;

Dieselbigen versammelte er und die Beiarbeiter desselbigen Handwerks und sprach: Liebe Manner, ihr wisset, daß wir grolien Zugang von diesem Handel haben.

A los cuales, reunidos con los oficiales de semejante oficio, dijo: Varones, sabéis que de este oficio tenemos ganancia;

Und ihr sehet und horet, daß nicht allein zu Ephesus, sondern auch fast in ganz Asien dieser Paulus viel Volks abfallig macht, uberredet und spricht: Es sind nicht Gotter, welche von Handen gemacht sind.

Y veis y oís que este Pablo, no solamente en Efeso, sino á muchas gentes de casi toda el Asia, ha apartado con persuasión, diciendo, que no son dioses los que se hacen con las manos.

Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

You see and hear that not at Ephesus alone, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are no gods that are made with hands.

Aber es will nicht allein unserm Handel dahin geraten, daß er nichts gelte, sondern auch der Tempel der grolien Gottin Diana wird fur nichts geachtet, und wird dazu ihre Majestat untergehen, welcher doch ganz Asien und der Weltkreis Gottesdienst erzeiget.

Y no solamente hay peligro de que este negocio se nos vuelva en reproche, sino también que el templo de la gran diosa Diana sea estimado en nada, y comience á ser destruída su majestad, la cual honra toda el Asia y el mundo.

So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”

Als sie das horeten, wurden sie voll Zorns, schrieen und sprachen: Groli ist die Diana der Epheser!

Oídas estas cosas, llenáronse de ira, y dieron alarido, diciendo: ¡Grande es Diana de los Efesios!

And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

Da aber Paulus wollte unter das Volk gehen, lielien's ihm die Junger nicht zu.

Auch etliche der Obersten in Asien, die des Paulus gute Freunde waren, sandten zu ihm und ermahneten ihn, daß ersich nicht begabe auf den Schauplatz.

And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.

Etliche schrieen so, etliche ein anderes, und war die Gemeinde irre, und die meisten wuliten nicht, warum sie zusammenkommen waren.

Etliche aber vom Volk zogen Alexander hervor, da ihn die Juden hervorstielien. Alexander aber winkete mit der Hand und wollte sich vor dem Volk verantworten.

Da sie aber innewurden, daß er ein Jude war, erhub sich eine Stimme von alien und schrieen bei zwo Stunden: Groli ist die Diana der Epheser!

Mas como conocieron que era Judío, fué hecha un voz de todos, que gritaron casi por dos horas: ¡Grande es Diana de los Efesios!

But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

Da aber der Kanzler das Volk gestillet hatte, sprach er: Ihr Manner von Ephesus, welcher Mensch ist, der nicht wisse, daß die Stadt Ephesus sei eine Pflegerin der grolien Gottin Diana und des himmlischen Bildes?

And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?

Weil nun das unwidersprechlich ist, so sollt ihr ja stille sein und nichts Unbedachtiges handeln.

Así que, pues esto no puede ser contradicho, conviene que os apacigüéis, y que nada hagáis temerariamente;

Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

Ihr habt diese Menschen hergefuhret, die weder Kirchenrauber noch Lasterer eurer Gottin sind.

Pues habéis traído á estos hombres, sin ser sacrílegos ni blasfemadores de vuestra diosa.

For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

Hat aber Demetrius, und die mit ihm sind vom Handwerk, an jemand einen Anspruch, so halt man Gericht, und sind Landvogte da; lasset sie sich untereinander verklagen.

Que si Demetrio y los oficiales que están con él tienen negocio con alguno, audiencias se hacen, y procónsules hay; acúsense los unos á los otros.

Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.

If therefore Demetrius and the craftsmen who are with him have a matter against anyone, the courts are open and there are proconsuls. Let them press charges against one another.

Wollet ihr aber etwas anderes handeln, so mag man es ausrichten in einer ordentlichen Gemeinde.

Y si demandáis alguna otra cosa, en legítima asamblea se pueda decidir.

But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

But if you seek anything about other matters, it will be settled in the regular assembly.

Denn wir stehen in der Gefahr, daß wir urn diese heutige Emporung verklaget mochten werden, und doch keine Sache vorhanden ist, damit wir uns solches Aufruhrs entschuldigen mochten. Und da er solches gesagt, lieli erdie Gemeinde gehen.

Porque peligro hay de que seamos argüidos de sedición por hoy, no habiendo ninguna causa por la cual podamos dar razón de este concurso. Y habiendo dicho esto, despidió la concurrencia.

For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.

For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
