Er ging aber in die Schule und predigte frei drei Monden lang, lehrete und beredete sie von dem Reich Gottes.

Da aber etliche verstockt waren und nicht glaubten und übel redeten von dem Wege vor der Menge, wich er von ihnen und sonderte ab die Jünger und redete täglich in der Schule eines, der hieß Tyrannus.

Und dasselbige geschah zwei Jahre lang, also daß alle, die in Asien wohneten, das Wort des HERRN Jesu höreten, beide, Juden und Griechen.

Und Gott wirkete nicht geringe Taten durch die Hände des Paulus,

also daß sie auch von seiner Haut die Schweißtüchlein und Koller über die Kranken hielten, und die Seuchen von ihnen wichen, und die bösen Geister von ihnen ausfuhren.

Also mächtig wuchs das Wort des HERRN und nahm überhand.

Da das ausgerichtet war, setzte sich Paulus vor im Geiste, durch Mazedonien und Achaja zu reisen und gen Jerusalem zu wandeln, und sprach: Nach dem, wenn ich daselbst gewesen bin, muß ich auch Rom sehen.

Es erhub sich aber um dieselbige Zeit eine nicht kleine Bewegung über diesem Wege.

Dieselbigen versammelte er und die Beiarbeiter desselbigen Handwerks und sprach: Liebe Männer, ihr wisset, daß wir großen Zugang von diesem Handel haben.

Y muchos de los que habían creído, venían, confesando y dando cuenta de sus hechos.

Aber es will nicht allein unserm Handel dahin geraten, daß er nichts gelte, sondern auch der Tempel der großen Göttin Diana wird für nichts geachtet, und wird dazu ihre Majestät untergehen, welcher doch ganz Asien und der Weltkreis Gottesdienst erzeiget.

Da aber Paulus wollte unter das Volk gehen, ließen's ihm die Jünger nicht zu.

Entonces hubo un alboroto no pequeño acerca del Camino.

Auch etliche der Obersten in Asien, die des Paulus gute Freunde waren, sandten zu ihm und ermahneten ihn, daß er sich nicht begäbe auf den Schauplatz.

Etliche aber vom Volk zogen Alexander hervor, da ihn die Juden hervorstießen. Alexander aber winkete mit der Hand und wollte sich vor dem Volk verantworten.

Y veis y oís que este Pablo, no solamente en Efeso, sino á muchas gentes de casi toda el Asia, ha apartado con persuasión, diciendo, que no son dioses los que se hacen con las manos.

Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:

Da sie aber innewurden, daß er ein Jude war, erhub sich eine Stimme von allen und schrieen bei zwo Stunden: Groß ist die Diana der Epheser!

Y no solamente hay peligro de que este negocio se nos vuelva en reproche, sino también que el templo de la gran diosa Diana sea estimado en nada, y comience á ser destruída su majestad, la cual honra toda el Asia y el mundo.

So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

Not only is there danger that this our trade come into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be counted as nothing and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worships.”

Da aber der Kanzler das Volk gestillet hatte, sprach er: Ihr Männer von Ephesus, welcher Mensch ist, der nicht wisse, daß die Stadt Ephesus sei eine Pflegerin der großen Göttin Diana und des himmlischen Bildes?

And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

Da nun die Empörung aufgehöret, rief Paulus die Jünger zu sich und segnete sie und ging aus, zu reisen nach Mazedonien.

And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?

When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?

Da aber ihm die Juden nachstelleten, als er nach Syrien wollte fahren, ward er zu Rat, wieder umzuwenden durch Mazedonien

Así que, pues esto no puede ser contradicho, conviene que os apacigüéis, y que nada hagáis temerariamente;

Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

Es zogen aber mit ihm bis nach Asien Sopater von Beröa, von Thessalonich aber Aristarchus und Sekundus und Gajus von Derbe und Timotheus, aus Asien aber Tychikus und Trophimus.

Diese gingen voran und harreten unser zu Troas.

Que si Demetrio y los oficiales que están con él tienen negocio con alguno, audiencias se hacen, y procónsules hay; acúsense los unos á los otros.

Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.

Wir aber schiffeten nach den Ostertagen von Philippi bis an den fünften Tag und kamen zu ihnen gen Troas und hatten da unser Wesen sieben Tage.

Y si demandáis alguna otra cosa, en legítima asamblea se pueda decidir.

But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

Auf einen Sabbat aber, da die Jünger zusammenkamen, das Brot zu brechen, predigte ihnen Paulus und wollte des andern Tages ausreisen und verzog das Wort bis zu Mitternacht.

Porque peligro hay de que seamos argüidos de sedición por hoy, no habiendo ninguna causa por la cual podamos dar razón de este concurso. Y habiendo dicho esto, despidió la concurrencia.

For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.

For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
