Por donde, no sólo esta profesión nuestra correrá peligro de ser desacreditada, sino, lo que es más, el templo de la gran diosa Diana perderá toda su estimación, y la majestad de aquélla, a quien toda el Asia y el mundo entero adora, caerá por tierra.
Y no solamente hay peligro de que este negocio se nos vuelva en reproche, sino también que el templo de la gran diosa Diana sea estimado en nada, y comience á ser destruída su majestad, la cual honra toda el Asia y el mundo.
So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.

Oído esto, se enfurecieron, y exclamaron, diciendo: ¡Viva la gran Diana de los efesios!

And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.

Al fin el secretario, o síndico, habiendo sosegado el tumulto, les dijo: Varones efesinos, ¿quién hay entre los hombres que ignore que la ciudad de Efeso está dedicada toda al culto de la gran Diana, hija de Júpiter?

And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
When the town clerk had quieted the multitude, he said, “You men of Ephesus, what man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is temple keeper of the great goddess Artemis, and of the image which fell down from Zeus?
Siendo, pues, esto tan cierto que nadie lo puede contradecir, es preciso que os soseguéis, y no procedáis inconsideradamente.
Así que, pues esto no puede ser contradicho, conviene que os apacigüéis, y que nada hagáis temerariamente;
Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.

Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.

Y si tenéis alguna otra pretensión, podrá ésta decidirse en legítimo ayuntamiento.

But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.

De lo contrario estamos a riesgo de que se nos acuse de sediciosos por lo de este día, no pudiendo alegar ninguna causa para justificar esta reunión.
Porque peligro hay de que seamos argüidos de sedición por hoy, no habiendo ninguna causa por la cual podamos dar razón de este concurso. Y habiendo dicho esto, despidió la concurrencia.
For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
For indeed we are in danger of being accused concerning today’s riot, there being no cause. Concerning it, we wouldn’t be able to give an account of this commotion.”
