1ORA, dopo che fu cessato il tumulto, Paolo, chiamati a sè i discepoli, ed abbracciatili, si partì per andare in Macedonia.
2E, dopo esser passato per quelle parti, ed averli con molte parole confortati, venne in Grecia.
3Dove quando fu dimorato tre mesi, essendogli poste insidie da' Giudei, se fosse navigato in Siria, il parer fu che ritornasse per la Macedonia.
4Or Sopatro Berreese l'accompagnò fino in Asia; e de' Tessalonicesi, Aristarco, e Secondo, e Gaio Derbese, e Timoteo; e di que' d'Asia, Tichico, e Trofimo.
5Costoro, andati innanzi, ci aspettarono in Troas.
6E noi, dopo i giorni degli azzimi, partimmo da Filippi, e in capo di cinque giorni arrivammo a loro in Troas, dove dimorammo sette giorni.
7E nel primo giorno della settimana, essendo i discepoli raunati per rompere il pane, Paolo, dovendo partire il giorno seguente, fece loro un sermone, e distese il ragionamento sino a mezzanotte.
8Or nella sala, ove eravamo raunati, vi erano molte lampane.
9Ed un certo giovanetto, chiamato per nome Eutico, sedendo sopra la finestra, sopraffatto da profondo sonno, mentre Paolo tirava il suo ragionamento in lungo, traboccato dal sonno, cadde giù dal terzo solaio, e fu levato morto.
10Ma Paolo, sceso a basso, si gettò sopra lui, e l'abbracciò, e disse: Non tumultuate; perciocchè l'anima sua è in lui.
11Poi, essendo risalito, ed avendo rotto il pane, e preso cibo, dopo avere ancora lungamente ragionato sino all'alba, si dipartì così.
12Or menarono quivi il fanciullo vivente, onde furono fuor di modo consolati.
13E noi, andati alla nave, navigammo in Asso, con intenzione di levar di là Paolo; perciocchè egli avea così determinato, volendo egli far quel cammino per terra.
14Ed avendolo scontrato in Asso, lo levammo, e venimmo a Mitilene.
15E, navigando di là, arrivammo il giorno seguente di rincontro a Chio; e il giorno appresso ammainammo verso Samo; e fermatici in Trogillio, il giorno seguente giungemmo a Mileto.
16Perciocchè Paolo avea deliberato di navigare oltre ad Efeso, per non avere a consumar tempo in Asia; poichè egli si affrettava per essere, se gli era possibile, al giorno della Pentecosta in Gerusalemme.
17E DA Mileto mandò in Efeso, a far chiamare gli anziani della chiesa.
18E quando furono venuti a lui, egli disse loro: Voi sapete in qual maniera, dal primo giorno che io entrai nell'Asia, io sono stato con voi in tutto quel tempo;
19servendo al Signore, con ogni umiltà e con molte lagrime, e prove, le quali mi sono avvenute nelle insidie de' Giudei.
20Come io non mi son ritratto d'annunziarvi, ed insegnarvi, in pubblico, e per le case, cosa alcuna di quelle che son giovevoli;
21testificando a' Giudei, ed a' Greci, la conversione a Dio, e la fede nel Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
22Ed ora, ecco, io, cattivato dallo Spirito, vo in Gerusalemme, non sapendo le cose che mi avverranno in essa.
23Se non che lo Spirito Santo mi testifica per ogni città, dicendo che legami e tribolazioni mi aspettano.
24Ma io non fo conto di nulla; e la mia propria vita non mi è cara, purchè io adempia con allegrezza il mio corso, e il ministerio il quale ho ricevuto dal Signore Gesù, che è di testificar l'evangelo della grazia di Dio.
25Ed ora, ecco, io so che voi tutti, fra i quali io sono andato e venuto, predicando il regno di Dio, non vedrete più la mia faccia.
26Perciò ancora, io vi protesto oggi, che io son netto del sangue di tutti.
27Perciocchè io non mi son tratto indietro da annunziarvi tutto il consiglio di Dio.
28Attendete dunque a voi stessi, ed a tutta la greggia, nella quale lo Spirito Santo vi ha costituiti vescovi, per pascer la chiesa di Dio, la quale egli ha acquistata col proprio sangue.
29Perciocchè io so questo: che dopo la mia partita, entreranno fra voi de' lupi rapaci, i quali non risparmieranno la greggia.
30E che d'infra voi stessi sorgeranno degli uomini che proporrano cose perverse, per trarsi dietro i discepoli.
31Perciò, vegliate, ricordandovi che per lo spazio di tre anni, giorno e notte, non son restato d' ammonir ciascuno con lagrime.
32Ed al presente, fratelli, io vi raccomando a Dio, e alla parola della grazia di lui, il quale è potente da continuar d'edificarvi, e da darvi l'eredità con tutti i santificati.
33Io non ho appetito l'argento, nè l'oro, nè il vestimento di alcuno.
34E voi stessi sapete che queste mani hanno sovvenuto a' bisogni miei, e di coloro ch'erano meco.
35In ogni cosa vi ho mostrato che affaticandosi, si convengono così sopportar gl'infermi; e ricordarsi delle parole del Signore Gesù, il qual disse che più felice cosa è il dare che il ricevere.
36E quando ebbe dette queste cose, si pose in ginocchioni, ed orò con tutti loro.
37E si fece da tutti un gran pianto; e gettatisi al collo di Paolo, lo baciavano;
38dolenti principalmente per la parola ch'egli avea detta, che non vedrebbero più la sua faccia. E l'accompagnarono alla nave.

1Y DESPUÉS que cesó el alboroto, llamando Pablo á los discípulos habiéndoles exhortado y abrazado, se despidió, y partió para ir á Macedonia.
2Y andado que hubo aquellas partes, y exhortádoles con abundancia de palabra, vino á Grecia.
3Y después de haber estado allí tres meses, y habiendo de navegar á Siria, le fueron puestas asechanzas por los Judíos; y así tomó consejo de volverse por Macedonia.
4Y le acompañaron hasta Asia Sopater Bereense, y los Tesalonicenses, Aristarco y Segundo; y Gayo de Derbe, y Timoteo; y de Asia, Tychîco y Trófimo.
5Estos yendo delante, nos esperaron en Troas.
6Y nosotros, pasados los días de los panes sin levadura, navegamos de Filipos y vinimos á ellos á Troas en cinco días, donde estuvimos siete días.
7Y el día primero de la semana, juntos los discípulos á partir el pan, Pablo les enseñaba, habiendo de partir al día siguiente: y alargó el discurso hasta la media noche.
8Y había muchas lámparas en el aposento alto donde estaban juntos.
9Y un mancebo llamado Eutichô que estaba sentado en la ventana, tomado de un sueño profundo, como Pablo disputaba largamente, postrado del sueño cayó del tercer piso abajo, y fué alzado muerto.
10Entonces descendió Pablo, y derribóse sobre él, y abrazándole, dijo: No os alborotéis, que su alma está en él.
11Después subiendo, y partiendo el pan, y gustando, habló largamente hasta el alba, y así partió.
12Y llevaron al mozo vivo, y fueron consolados no poco.
13Y nosotros subiendo en el navío, navegamos á Assón, para recibir de allí á Pablo; pues así había determinado que debía él ir por tierra.
14Y como se juntó con nosotros en Assón, tomándole vinimos á Mitilene.
15Y navegando de allí, al día siguiente llegamos delante de Chîo, y al otro día tomamos puerto en Samo: y habiendo reposado en Trogilio, al día siguiente llegamos á Mileto.
16Porque Pablo se había propuesto pasar adelante de Efeso; por no detenerse en Asia: porque se apresuraba por hacer el día de Pentecostés, si le fuese posible, en Jerusalem.
17Y enviando desde Mileto á Efeso, hizo llamar á los ancianos de la iglesia.
18Y cuando vinieron á él, les dijo: Vosotros sabéis cómo, desde el primer día que entré en Asia, he estado con vosotros por todo el tiempo,
19Sirviendo al Señor con toda humildad, y con muchas lágrimas, y tentaciones que me han venido por las asechanzas de los Judíos:
20Cómo nada que fuese útil he rehuído de anunciaros y enseñaros, públicamente y por las casas,
21Testificando á los Judíos y á los Gentiles arrepentimiento para con Dios, y la fe en nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
22Y ahora, he aquí, ligado yo en espíritu, voy á Jerusalem, sin saber lo que allá me ha de acontecer:
23Mas que el Espíritu Santo por todas las ciudades me da testimonio, diciendo que prisiones y tribulaciones me esperan.
24Mas de ninguna cosa hago caso, ni estimo mi vida preciosa para mí mismo; solamente que acabe mi carrera con gozo, y el ministerio que recibí del Señor Jesús, para dar testimonio del evangelio de la gracia de Dios.
25Y ahora, he aquí, yo sé que ninguno de todos vosotros, por quien he pasado predicando el reino de Dios, verá más mi rostro.
26Por tanto, yo os protesto el día de hoy, que yo soy limpio de la sangre de todos:
27Porque no he rehuído de anunciaros todo el consejo de Dios.
28Por tanto mirad por vosotros, y por todo el rebaño en que el Espíritu Santo os ha puesto por obispos, para apacentar la iglesia del Señor, la cual ganó por su sangre.
29Porque yo sé que después de mi partida entrarán en medio de vosotros lobos rapaces, que no perdonarán al ganado;
30Y de vosotros mismos se levantarán hombres que hablen cosas perversas, para llevar discípulos tras sí.
31Por tanto, velad, acordándoos que por tres años de noche y de día, no he cesado de amonestar con lágrimas á cada uno.
32Y ahora, hermanos, os encomiendo á Dios, y á la palabra de su gracia: el cual es poderoso para sobreedificar, y daros heredad con todos los santificados.
33La plata, ó el oro, ó el vestido de nadie he codiciado.
34Antes vosotros sabéis que para lo que me ha sido necesario, y á los que están conmigo, estas manos me han servido.
35En todo os he enseñado que, trabajando así, es necesario sobrellevar á los enfermos, y tener presente las palabras del Señor Jesús, el cual dijo: Más bienaventurada cosa es dar que recibir.
36Y como hubo dicho estas cosas, se puso de rodillas, y oró con todos ellos.
37Entonces hubo un gran lloro de todos: y echándose en el cuello de Pablo, le besaban,
38Doliéndose en gran manera por la palabra que dijo, que no habían de ver más su rostro. Y le acompañaron al navío.

1And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.
2And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,
3And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.
4And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.
5These going before tarried for us at Troas.
6And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.
7And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
8And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.
9And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.
10And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.
11When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.
12And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.
13And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.
14And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.
15And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.
16For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.
17And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
18And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
19Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
20And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
22And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:
23Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.
24But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
25And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
26Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
27For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
28Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
29For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.
31Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
32And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
33I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.
34Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.
35I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
36And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.
37And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,
38Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

1After the uproar had ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, took leave of them, and departed to go into Macedonia.
2When he had gone through those parts and had encouraged them with many words, he came into Greece.
3When he had spent three months there, and a plot was made against him by Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he determined to return through Macedonia.
4These accompanied him as far as Asia: Sopater of Beroea, Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, Gaius of Derbe, Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.
5But these had gone ahead, and were waiting for us at Troas.
6We sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and came to them at Troas in five days, where we stayed seven days.
7On the first day of the week, when the disciples were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day; and continued his speech until midnight.

9A certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep. As Paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third floor and was taken up dead.
10Paul went down and fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Don’t be troubled, for his life is in him.”
11When he had gone up, had broken bread and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even until break of day, he departed.
12They brought the boy in alive, and were greatly comforted.
13But we, going ahead to the ship, set sail for Assos, intending to take Paul aboard there; for he had so arranged, intending himself to go by land.
14When he met us at Assos, we took him aboard and came to Mitylene.
15Sailing from there, we came the following day opposite Chios. The next day we touched at Samos and stayed at Trogyllium, and the day after we came to Miletus.
16For Paul had determined to sail past Ephesus, that he might not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hastening, if it were possible for him, to be in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.
17From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called to himself the elders of the assembly.
18When they had come to him, he said to them, “You yourselves know, from the first day that I set foot in Asia, how I was with you all the time,
19serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews;
20how I didn’t shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, teaching you publicly and from house to house,
21testifying both to Jews and to Greeks repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus.
22Now, behold, I go bound by the Spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there;
23except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions wait for me.
24But these things don’t count; nor do I hold my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to fully testify to the Good News of the grace of God.
25“Now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went about preaching God’s Kingdom, will see my face no more.
26Therefore I testify to you today that I am clean from the blood of all men,
27for I didn’t shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
28Take heed, therefore, to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and God which he purchased with his own blood.
29For I know that after my departure, vicious wolves will enter in among you, not sparing the flock.
30Men will arise from among your own selves, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.
31Therefore watch, remembering that for a period of three years I didn’t cease to admonish everyone night and day with tears.
32Now, brothers, I entrust you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
33I coveted no one’s silver, gold, or clothing.
34You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me.
35In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
36When he had spoken these things, he knelt down and prayed with them all.
37They all wept freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him,
38sorrowing most of all because of the word which he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
