1Después de separarnos de ellos navegamos en línea recta hasta Cos. Al siguiente día llegamos a Rodas, y de Rodas seguimos a Pátara.
2Allí abordamos un barco que se dirigía a Fenicia.
3En la travesía avistamos a la izquierda la isla de Chipre, pero seguimos de largo hasta el puerto de Tiro, en Siria, donde descargaron el barco.
4Allí estuvimos con los discípulos una semana. Y ellos, iluminados por el Espíritu, le advirtieron a Pablo que no fuera a Jerusalén.
5Al cabo de la semana, cuando regresamos al barco, la congregación en pleno, incluyendo esposas e hijos, nos acompañaron hasta la orilla del mar, donde oramos
6y nos despedimos de ellos. Abordamos entonces la nave, y ellos regresaron a sus casas.
7Tras partir de Tiro, hicimos escala en Tolemaida, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de saludar a los hermanos y estar con ellos un día.
8De allí Pablo y nosotros fuimos a Cesarea, y nos alojamos en casa de Felipe el evangelista, uno de los primeros siete diáconos.
9Felipe tenía cuatro hijas solteras que poseían el don de la profecía.
10Durante nuestra estancia, que se prolongó varios días, un hombre llamado Ágabo, profeta también, llegó procedente de Judea
11y fue a visitarnos. Al ver a Pablo, le quitó el cinturón, se ató con él de pies y manos y dijo: ―El Espíritu Santo dice: “Así atarán los judíos de Jerusalén al dueño de este cinturón y lo entregarán a los gentiles”.
12Al escuchar aquello, los creyentes de Cesarea y nosotros le suplicamos que no fuera a Jerusalén.
13―¿A qué viene tanto llanto? —nos respondió Pablo—. ¿Quieren destrozarme el corazón? Estoy dispuesto no sólo a sufrir las prisiones de Jerusalén sino también a morir por la causa del Señor Jesús.
14Al darnos cuenta de que no podríamos disuadirlo, nos dimos por vencidos y dijimos: ―Hágase la voluntad del Señor.
15Poco después recogimos el equipaje y partimos hacia Jerusalén,
16acompañados por varios discípulos de Cesarea, que traían con ellos a Mnasón. En Jerusalén, nos hospedamos en la casa de Mnasón, que era de Chipre y uno de los primeros discípulos.
17Los hermanos de Jerusalén nos dieron una bienvenida gozosa.
18Al segundo día, Pablo nos llevó consigo a visitar a Jacobo y a los ancianos que estaban reunidos con él.
19Luego de intercambiar saludos, les hizo un recuento de lo que Dios había realizado entre los gentiles a través de su persona.
20Los allí presentes alabaron a Dios, pero le dijeron: «Hermano, como sabes, miles de judíos han creído también, e insisten celosamente en guardar la ley.
21El caso es que ellos han oído decir que te opones a que los judíos que viven entre los gentiles obedezcan la ley de Moisés y que prohíbes que circunciden a sus niños.
22¿Qué vamos a hacer? Todos se van a reunir cuando sepan que has venido.
23Por eso, se nos ocurre lo siguiente: Aquí tenemos cuatro hombres que se van a rasurar la cabeza para cumplir sus votos.
24Ve con ellos al templo, aféitate la cabeza y paga para que los afeiten a ellos. Así todo el mundo se convencerá de que obedeces las leyes judaicas y que te comportas con orden.
25En cuanto a los creyentes gentiles, ya les hemos escrito que no tienen que observar estas leyes, sino que dejen de comer alimentos ofrecidos a los ídolos, carne sin desangrar y animales ahogados, y que dejen de fornicar».
26Pablo estuvo de acuerdo, y al día siguiente fue al templo con aquellos hombres a observar la ceremonia y a proclamar su voto de ofrecer más tarde un sacrificio junto con los demás.
27Casi al final de los siete días, varios judíos de Asia lo vieron en el templo y provocaron un escándalo contra él.
28«¡Varones israelitas! —gritaron agarrándolo por los brazos—. ¡Ayúdennos! Este es el hombre que predica contra nuestro pueblo y anda por ahí aconsejando que desobedezcan las leyes judías. ¡Y hasta se ha atrevido a hablar contra el templo y a profanarlo introduciendo griegos en él!».
29Decían esto porque antes lo habían visto por la ciudad con Trófimo, un gentil de Éfeso, y pensaban que Pablo lo había metido en el templo.
30Al escuchar la acusación, la ciudad entera, exaltada, se agolpó contra él y lo sacaron del templo, e inmediatamente cerraron la puerta.
31Cuando estaban a punto de matarlo, alguien le avisó al jefe de la guarnición romana que la ciudad de Jerusalén estaba alborotada.
32Este corrió entonces a donde estaba el disturbio, acompañado de soldados y oficiales. Cuando la turba vio que el ejército se acercaba, dejó de golpear a Pablo.
33El jefe de la guarnición arrestó al apóstol y ordenó que lo ataran con dos cadenas. Luego preguntó quién era y qué había hecho.
34Unos contestaron una cosa y otros contestaron otra. Al ver que en medio de aquel tumulto no podía entender nada, ordenó que llevaran a Pablo a la fortaleza.
35Al aproximarse a las gradas de la fortaleza, la turba se volvió tan violenta que los soldados tuvieron que levantar en peso a Pablo para protegerlo.
36«¡Muera!» —gritaba la multitud detrás de ellos.
37Ya lo iban a meter en la fortaleza cuando Pablo le dijo al comandante: ―¿Puedo decirte algo? ―¡Conque sabes griego! —le dijo el comandante.
38¿No eres tú el egipcio que encabezó una rebelión hace algún tiempo y se fue al desierto seguido de cuatro mil guerrilleros?
39―No —respondió Pablo—. Soy sólo un judío de Tarso, ciudad de Cilicia no demasiado pequeña. Quisiera que me dejaras hablarle al pueblo.
40El comandante accedió. Pablo, erguido en las gradas, pidió silencio con las manos. Pronto un profundo silencio envolvió a la multitud, y Pablo se dirigió a ellos en arameo.

1Y HABIENDO partido de ellos, navegamos y vinimos camino derecho á Coos, y al día siguiente á Rhodas, y de allí á Pátara.
2Y hallando un barco que pasaba á Fenicia, nos embarcamos, y partimos.
3Y como avistamos á Cipro, dejándola á mano izquierda, navegamos á Siria, y vinimos á Tiro: porque el barco había de descargar allí su carga.
4Y nos quedamos allí siete días, hallados los discípulos, los cuales decían á Pablo por Espíritu, que no subiese á Jerusalem.
5Y cumplidos aquellos días, salimos acompañándonos todos, con sus mujeres é hijos, hasta fuera de la ciudad; y puestos de rodillas en la ribera, oramos.
6Y abrazándonos los unos á los otros, subimos al barco, y ellos se volvieron á sus casas.
7Y nosotros, cumplida la navegación, vinimos de Tiro á Tolemaida; y habiendo saludado á los hermanos, nos quedamos con ellos un día.
8Y otro día, partidos Pablo y los que con él estábamos, vinimos á Cesarea: y entrando en casa de Felipe el evangelista, el cual era uno de los siete, posamos con él.
9Y éste tenía cuatro hijas, doncellas, que profetizaban.
10Y parando nosotros allí por muchos días, descendió de Judea un profeta, llamado Agabo;
11Y venido á nosotros, tomó el cinto de Pablo, y atándose los pies y las manos, dijo: Esto dice el Espíritu Santo: Así atarán los Judíos en Jerusalem al varón cuyo es este cinto, y le entregarán en manos de los Gentiles.
12Lo cual como oímos, le rogamos nosotros y los de aquel lugar, que no subiese á Jerusalem.
13Entonces Pablo respondió: ¿Qué hacéis llorando y afligiéndome el corazón? porque yo no sólo estoy presto á ser atado, mas aun á morir en Jerusalem por el nombre del Señor Jesús.
14Y como no le pudimos persuadir, desistimos, diciendo: Hágase la voluntad del Señor.
15Y después de estos días, apercibidos, subimos á Jerusalem.
16Y vinieron también con nosotros de Cesarea algunos de los discípulos, trayendo consigo á un Mnasón, Cyprio, discípulo antiguo, con el cual posásemos.
17Y cuando llegamos á Jerusalem, los hermanos nos recibieron de buena voluntad.
18Y al día siguiente Pablo entró con nosotros á Jacobo, y todos los ancianos se juntaron;
19A los cuales, como los hubo saludado, contó por menudo lo que Dios había hecho entre los Gentiles por su ministerio.
20Y ellos como lo oyeron, glorificaron á Dios, y le dijeron: Ya ves, hermano, cuántos millares de Judíos hay que han creído; y todos son celadores de la ley:
21Mas fueron informados acerca de ti, que enseñas á apartarse de Moisés á todos los Judíos que están entre los Gentiles, diciéndoles que no han de circuncidar á los hijos, ni andar según la costumbre.
22¿Qué hay pues? La multitud se reunirá de cierto: porque oirán que has venido.
23Haz pues esto que te decimos: Hay entre nosotros cuatro hombres que tienen voto sobre sí:
24Tomando á éstos contigo, purifícate con ellos, y gasta con ellos, para que rasuren sus cabezas, y todos entiendan que no hay nada de lo que fueron informados acerca de ti; sino que tú también andas guardando la ley.
25Empero cuanto á los que de los Gentiles han creído, nosotros hemos escrito haberse acordado que no guarden nada de esto; solamente que se abstengan de lo que fuere sacrificado á los ídolos, y de sangre, y de ahogado, y de fornicación.
26Entonces Pablo tomó consigo aquellos hombres, y al día siguiente, habiéndose purificado con ellos, entró en el templo, para anunciar el cumplimiento de los días de la purificación, hasta ser ofrecida ofrenda por cada uno de ellos.
27Y cuando estaban para acabarse los siete días, unos Judíos de Asia, como le vieron en el templo, alborotaron todo el pueblo y le echaron mano,
28Dando voces: Varones Israelitas, ayudad: Este es el hombre que por todas partes enseña á todos contra el pueblo, y la ley, y este lugar; y además de esto ha metido Gentiles en el templo, y ha contaminado este lugar santo.
29Porque antes habían visto con él en la ciudad á Trófimo, Efesio, al cual pensaban que Pablo había metido en el templo.
30Así que, toda la ciudad se alborotó, y agolpóse el pueblo; y tomando á Pablo, hiciéronle salir fuera del templo, y luego las puertas fueron cerradas.
31Y procurando ellos matarle, fué dado aviso al tribuno de la compañía, que toda la ciudad de Jerusalem estaba alborotada;
32El cual tomando luego soldados y centuriones, corrió á ellos. Y ellos como vieron al tribuno y á los soldados, cesaron de herir á Pablo.
33Entonces llegando el tribuno, le prendió, y le mandó atar con dos cadenas; y preguntó quién era, y qué había hecho.
34Y entre la multitud, unos gritaban una cosa, y otros otra: y como no podía entender nada de cierto á causa del alboroto, le mandó llevar á la fortaleza.
35Y como llegó á las gradas, aconteció que fué llevado de los soldados á causa de la violencia del pueblo;
36Porque multitud de pueblo venía detrás, gritando: Mátale.
37Y como comenzaron á meter á Pablo en la fortaleza, dice al tribuno: ¿Me será lícito hablarte algo? Y él dijo: ¿Sabes griego?
38¿No eres tú aquel Egipcio que levantaste una sedición antes de estos días, y sacaste al desierto cuatro mil hombres salteadores?
39Entonces dijo Pablo: Yo de cierto soy hombre Judío, ciudadano de Tarso, ciudad no obscura de Cilicia: empero ruégote que me permitas que hable al pueblo.
40Y como él se lo permitió, Pablo, estando en pie en las gradas, hizo señal con la mano al pueblo. Y hecho grande silencio, habló en lengua hebrea, diciendo:

1And it came to pass, that after we were gotten from them, and had launched, we came with a straight course unto Coos, and the day following unto Rhodes, and from thence unto Patara:
2And finding a ship sailing over unto Phenicia, we went aboard, and set forth.
3Now when we had discovered Cyprus, we left it on the left hand, and sailed into Syria, and landed at Tyre: for there the ship was to unlade her burden.
4And finding disciples, we tarried there seven days: who said to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
6And when we had taken our leave one of another, we took ship; and they returned home again.
7And when we had finished our course from Tyre, we came to Ptolemais, and saluted the brethren, and abode with them one day.
8And the next day we that were of Paul’s company departed, and came unto Cæsarea: and we entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, which was one of the seven; and abode with him.
9And the same man had four daughters, virgins, which did prophesy.
10And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judæa a certain prophet, named Agabus.
11And when he was come unto us, he took Paul’s girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.
12And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13Then Paul answered, What mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
14And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, The will of the Lord be done.
15And after those days we took up our carriages, and went up to Jerusalem.
16There went with us also certain of the disciples of Cæsarea, and brought with them one Mnason of Cyprus, an old disciple, with whom we should lodge.
17And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
18And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
19And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
20And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
21And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
22What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
23Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
24Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
25As touching the Gentiles which believe, we have written and concluded that they observe no such thing, save only that they keep themselves from things offered to idols, and from blood, and from strangled, and from fornication.
26Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of purification, until that an offering should be offered for every one of them.
27And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the people, and laid hands on him,
28Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.
29(For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.)
30And all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and forthwith the doors were shut.
31And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32Who immediately took soldiers and centurions, and ran down unto them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they left beating of Paul.
33Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
34And some cried one thing, some another, among the multitude: and when he could not know the certainty for the tumult, he commanded him to be carried into the castle.
35And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
36For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
37And as Paul was to be led into the castle, he said unto the chief captain, May I speak unto thee? Who said, Canst thou speak Greek?
38Art not thou that Egyptian, which before these days madest an uproar, and leddest out into the wilderness four thousand men that were murderers?
39But Paul said, I am a man which am a Jew of Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
40And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

1When we had departed from them and had set sail, we came with a straight course to Cos, and the next day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara.
2Having found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail.
3When we had come in sight of Cyprus, leaving it on the left hand, we sailed to Syria and landed at Tyre, for the ship was there to unload her cargo.
4Having found disciples, we stayed there seven days. These said to Paul through the Spirit that he should not go up to Jerusalem.
5When those days were over, we departed and went on our journey. They all, with wives and children, brought us on our way until we were out of the city. Kneeling down on the beach, we prayed.
6After saying goodbye to each other, we went on board the ship, and they returned home again.
7When we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais. We greeted the brothers and stayed with them one day.
8On the next day, we who were Paul’s companions departed and came to Caesarea. We entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him.
9Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied.
10As we stayed there some days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea.
11Coming to us and taking Paul’s belt, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘So the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt, and will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”
12When we heard these things, both we and the people of that place begged him not to go up to Jerusalem.
13Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”
14When he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, “The Lord’s will be done.”
15After these days we took up our baggage and went up to Jerusalem.
16Some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us, bringing one Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we would stay.
17When we had come to Jerusalem, the brothers received us gladly.
18The day following, Paul went in with us to James; and all the elders were present.
19When he had greeted them, he reported one by one the things which God had worked among the Gentiles through his ministry.
20They, when they heard it, glorified God. They said to him, “You see, brother, how many thousands there are among the Jews of those who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law.
21They have been informed about you, that you teach all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children and not to walk after the customs.
22What then? The assembly must certainly meet, for they will hear that you have come.
23Therefore do what we tell you. We have four men who have taken a vow.
24Take them and purify yourself with them, and pay their expenses for them, that they may shave their heads. Then all will know that there is no truth in the things that they have been informed about you, but that you yourself also walk keeping the law.
25But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written our decision that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from food offered to idols, from blood, from strangled things, and from sexual immorality.”
26Then Paul took the men, and the next day purified himself and went with them into the temple, declaring the fulfillment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered for every one of them.
27When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, when they saw him in the temple, stirred up all the multitude and laid hands on him,
28crying out, “Men of Israel, help! This is the man who teaches all men everywhere against the people, and the law, and this place. Moreover, he also brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place!”
29For they had seen Trophimus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.
30All the city was moved and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple. Immediately the doors were shut.
31As they were trying to kill him, news came up to the commanding officer of the regiment that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32Immediately he took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. They, when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, stopped beating Paul.
33Then the commanding officer came near, arrested him, commanded him to be bound with two chains, and inquired who he was and what he had done.
34Some shouted one thing and some another, among the crowd. When he couldn’t find out the truth because of the noise, he commanded him to be brought into the barracks.
35When he came to the stairs, he was carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd;
36for the multitude of the people followed after, crying out, “Away with him!”
37As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he asked the commanding officer, “May I speak to you?” He said, “Do you know Greek?
38Aren’t you then the Egyptian who before these days stirred up to sedition and led out into the wilderness the four thousand men of the Assassins?”
39But Paul said, “I am a Jew from Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city. I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.”
40When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,
