Hechos 22

“Irmãos e pais, ouçam-me enquanto apresento a minha defesa”.

VARONES hermanos y padres, oid la razón que ahora os doy.

Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defence which I make now unto you.

“Brothers and fathers, listen to the defense which I now make to you.”

Quando ouviram que ele falava em hebraico, o silêncio foi absoluto. Então Paulo disse:

(Y como oyeron que les hablaba en lengua hebrea, guardaron más silencio.) Y dijo:

(And when they heard that he spake in the Hebrew tongue to them, they kept the more silence: and he saith,)

When they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they were even more quiet. He said,

“Eu sou judeu, nascido em Tarso, cidade da Cilícia, mas educado aqui em Jerusalém por Gamaliel, a cujos pés aprendi a seguir muito cuidadosamente as nossas leis e costumes judaicos. Tornei-me muito zeloso honrando a Deus em tudo que fazia, tal como vocês procuraram fazer hoje.

Yo de cierto soy Judío, nacido en Tarso de Cilicia, mas criado en esta ciudad á los pies de Gamaliel, enseñado conforme á la verdad de la ley de la patria, celoso de Dios, como todos vosotros sois hoy.

I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.

“I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, instructed according to the strict tradition of the law of our fathers, being zealous for God, even as you all are today.

E andei perseguindo os seguidores deste Caminho até a morte, prendendo e pondo na prisão tanto homens como mulheres.

Que he perseguido este camino hasta la muerte, prendiendo y entregando en cárceles hombres y mujeres:

And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.

O sumo sacerdote ou qualquer membro do Sinédrio podem testemunhar que isto é verdade. Pois eu pedi cartas deles para seus irmãos em Damasco, com instruções e permissão para prender e trazer a Jerusalém para ser castigado qualquer seguidor de Cristo que encontrasse.

Como también el príncipe de los sacerdotes me es testigo, y todos los ancianos; de los cuales también tomando letras á los hermanos, iba á Damasco para traer presos á Jerusalem aun á los que estuviesen allí, para que fuesen castigados.

As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.

as also the high priest and all the council of the elders testify, from whom also I received letters to the brothers, and traveled to Damascus to bring them also who were there to Jerusalem in bonds to be punished.

“Quando estava na estrada, chegando perto de Damasco, por volta do meio-dia, de repente brilhou ao meu redor uma luz muito forte que vinha do céu,

Mas aconteció que yendo yo, y llegando cerca de Damasco, como á medio día, de repente me rodeó mucha luz del cielo:

And it came to pass, that, as I made my journey, and was come nigh unto Damascus about noon, suddenly there shone from heaven a great light round about me.

“As I made my journey and came close to Damascus, about noon suddenly a great light shone around me from the sky.

e eu caí no chão e ouvi uma voz dizer-me: ‘Saulo, Saulo, por que você está me perseguindo?’

Y caí en el suelo, y oí una voz que me decía: Saulo, Saulo, ¿por qué me persigues?

And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’

“ ‘Quem é, Senhor, que está falando comigo?’, perguntei. E ele respondeu: ‘Eu sou Jesus de Nazaré, a quem você está perseguindo’.

Yo entonces respondí: ¿Quién eres, Señor? Y me dijo: Yo soy Jesús de Nazaret, á quien tú persigues.

And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.

I answered, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you persecute.’

Os homens que estavam comigo viram a luz, mas não entenderam a voz daquele que falava comigo.

Y los que estaban conmigo vieron á la verdad la luz, y se espantaron; mas no oyeron la voz del que hablaba conmigo.

And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

“Those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they didn’t understand the voice of him who spoke to me.

“E eu perguntei: ‘Que devo fazer, Senhor?’ “E o Senhor me disse: ‘Levante-se e entre em Damasco, e lá dirão o que você deve fazer’.

Y dije: ¿Qué haré, Señor? Y el Señor me dijo: Levántate, y ve á Damasco, y allí te será dicho todo lo que te está señalado hacer.

And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.

I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ The Lord said to me, ‘Arise, and go into Damascus. There you will be told about all things which are appointed for you to do.’

Eu fiquei cego com a luz intensa, e tive que ser levado para Damasco pelos meus companheiros.

Y como yo no viese por causa de la claridad de la luz, llevado de la mano por los que estaban conmigo, vine á Damasco.

And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.

When I couldn’t see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of those who were with me, I came into Damascus.

“Ali, um homem chamado Ananias, fiel na obediência à Lei e muito respeitado por todos os judeus que viviam em Damasco,

Entonces un Ananías, varón pío conforme á la ley, que tenía buen testimonio de todos los Judíos que allí moraban,

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

“One Ananias, a devout man according to the law, well reported of by all the Jews who lived in Damascus,

veio a mim, colocou-se ao meu lado e disse: ‘Irmão Saulo, recupere a visão!’ E naquela mesma hora eu pude enxergar!

Viniendo á mí, y acercándose, me dijo: Hermano Saulo, recibe la vista. Y yo en aquella hora le miré.

Came unto me, and stood, and said unto me, Brother Saul, receive thy sight. And the same hour I looked up upon him.

came to me, and standing by me said to me, ‘Brother Saul, receive your sight!’ In that very hour I looked up at him.

“Então ele me disse: ‘O Deus dos nossos antepassados escolheu você para saber a vontade dele, para ver o Justo e ouvir as palavras da sua boca.

Y él dijo: El Dios de nuestros padres te ha predestinado para que conocieses su voluntad, y vieses á aquel Justo, y oyeses la voz de su boca.

And he said, The God of our fathers hath chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One, and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth.

He said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know his will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear a voice from his mouth.

Você levará a mensagem dele a toda parte, contando o que tem visto e ouvido.

Porque has de ser testigo suyo á todos los hombres, de lo que has visto y oído.

For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

For you will be a witness for him to all men of what you have seen and heard.

E agora, por que demorar? Levante-se e seja batizado, e fique limpo dos seus pecados, invocando o seu nome’.

Ahora pues, ¿por qué te detienes? Levántate, y bautízate, y lava tus pecados, invocando su nombre.

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

Now why do you wait? Arise, be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’

“Um dia depois da minha volta a Jerusalém, enquanto estava orando no templo, eu tive uma visão.

Y me aconteció, vuelto á Jerusalem, que orando en el templo, fuí arrebatado fuera de mí.

And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

“When I had returned to Jerusalem and while I prayed in the temple, I fell into a trance

Ouvi o Senhor me dizendo: ‘Ande depressa e deixe Jerusalém, porque o povo daqui não aceitará o seu testemunho a meu respeito’.

Y le vi que me decía: Date prisa, y sal prestamente fuera de Jerusalem; porque no recibirán tu testimonio de mí.

And saw him saying unto me, Make haste, and get thee quickly out of Jerusalem: for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

and saw him saying to me, ‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not receive testimony concerning me from you.’

“ ‘Senhor’, eu disse, ‘eles sabem que eu prendia e açoitava em cada sinagoga aqueles que criam no Senhor.

Y yo dije: Señor, ellos saben que yo encerraba en cárcel, y hería por las sinagogas á los que creían en ti;

And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue them that believed on thee:

I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that I imprisoned and beat in every synagogue those who believed in you.

E quando derramaram o sangue da sua testemunha Estêvão, eu estava lá e concordei — tomando conta das capas que eles colocavam de lado enquanto o apedrejavam’.

Y cuando se derramaba la sangre de Esteban tu testigo, yo también estaba presente, y consentía á su muerte, y guardaba las ropas de los que le mataban.

And when the blood of thy martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and consenting unto his death, and kept the raiment of them that slew him.

When the blood of Stephen, your witness, was shed, I also was standing by, consenting to his death, and guarding the cloaks of those who killed him.’

“Então o Senhor me disse: ‘Saia de Jerusalém, porque eu o enviarei para muito longe, para os gentios!’ ”

Y me dijo: Ve, porque yo te tengo que enviar lejos á los Gentiles.

And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.

“He said to me, ‘Depart, for I will send you out far from here to the Gentiles.’ ”

A multidão ouviu Paulo até que chegou a esta palavra e depois gritaram a uma voz: “Fora com esse sujeito! Matem esse homem! Ele não merece viver!”

Y le oyeron hasta esta palabra: entonces alzaron la voz, diciendo: Quita de la tierra á un tal hombre, porque no conviene que viva.

And they gave him audience unto this word, and then lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

They listened to him until he said that; then they lifted up their voice and said, “Rid the earth of this fellow, for he isn’t fit to live!”

Gritavam, atiravam suas capas para cima e jogavam punhados de terra para o ar.

Y dando ellos voces, y arrojando sus ropas y echando polvo al aire,

And as they cried out, and cast off their clothes, and threw dust into the air,

As they cried out, threw off their cloaks, and threw dust into the air,

Então o comandante pôs Paulo para dentro e mandou que fosse açoitado e interrogado. Ele queria descobrir por que a multidão tinha ficado tão furiosa!

Mandó el tribuno que le llevasen á la fortaleza, y ordenó que fuese examinado con azotes, para saber por qué causa clamaban así contra él.

The chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, and bade that he should be examined by scourging; that he might know wherefore they cried so against him.

the commanding officer commanded him to be brought into the barracks, ordering him to be examined by scourging, that he might know for what crime they shouted against him like that.

Quando estavam amarrando Paulo para açoitá-lo, ele disse ao centurião que estava ali: “A lei permite a vocês açoitar um cidadão romano sem que ele tenha sido julgado?”

Y como le ataron con correas, Pablo dijo al centurión que estaba presente: ¿Os es lícito azotar á un hombre Romano sin ser condenado?

And as they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, Is it lawful for you to scourge a man that is a Roman, and uncondemned?

When they had tied him up with straps, Paul asked the centurion who stood by, “Is it lawful for you to scourge a man who is a Roman, and not found guilty?”

O centurião foi ao comandante e perguntou: “O que o senhor vai fazer? Este homem é cidadão romano!”

Y como el centurión oyó esto, fué y dió aviso al tribuno, diciendo: ¿Qué vas á hacer? porque este hombre es Romano.

When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain, saying, Take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman.

When the centurion heard it, he went to the commanding officer and told him, “Watch what you are about to do, for this man is a Roman!”

Com isto o comandante foi perguntar a Paulo: “Diga-me, você é cidadão romano?” “Sim, de fato sou”, respondeu Paulo.

Y viniendo el tribuno, le dijo: Dime, ¿eres tú Romano? Y él dijo: Sí.

Then the chief captain came, and said unto him, Tell me, art thou a Roman? He said, Yea.

The commanding officer came and asked him, “Tell me, are you a Roman?” He said, “Yes.”

“Eu também sou”, disse o comandante, “mas isso me custou muito dinheiro!” “Mas eu sou cidadão por nascimento!”, disse Paulo.

Y respondió el tribuno: Yo con grande suma alcancé esta ciudadanía. Entonces Pablo dijo: Pero yo lo soy de nacimiento.

And the chief captain answered, With a great sum obtained I this freedom. And Paul said, But I was free born.

The commanding officer answered, “I bought my citizenship for a great price.” Paul said, “But I was born a Roman.”

Os soldados, que já estavam prontos para interrogá-lo, quando ouviram que Paulo era cidadão romano, saíram rapidamente, e o comandante ficou com medo, por haver dado ordem para que ele fosse amarrado.

Así que, luego se apartaron de él los que le habían de atormentar: y aun el tribuno también tuvo temor, entendido que era Romano, por haberle atado.

Then straightway they departed from him which should have examined him: and the chief captain also was afraid, after he knew that he was a Roman, and because he had bound him.

Immediately those who were about to examine him departed from him, and the commanding officer also was afraid when he realized that he was a Roman, because he had bound him.

O comandante queria descobrir exatamente por que Paulo estava sendo acusado pelos judeus. Então, no dia seguinte soltou Paulo e mandou que os sacerdotes principais se reunissem em sessão com todo o Sinédrio. E fez trazer Paulo à presença deles.

Y al día siguiente, queriendo saber de cierto la causa por qué era acusado de los Judíos, le soltó de las prisiones, y mandó venir á los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y á todo su concilio: y sacando á Pablo, le presentó delante de ellos.

On the morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.

But on the next day, desiring to know the truth about why he was accused by the Jews, he freed him from the bonds and commanded the chief priests and all the council to come together, and brought Paul down and set him before them.
