Entonces Pablo le dijo: Herirte ha Dios, pared blanqueada: ¿y estás tú sentado para juzgarme conforme á la ley, y contra la ley me mandas herir?
Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?”
Die Umstehenden aber sprachen: Schmähst du den Hohenpriester Gottes?

And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest?

Da sprach Paulus: Ich wußte nicht, ihr Brüder, daß er Hoherpriester ist, denn es steht geschrieben: «Den Obersten deines Volkes sollst du nicht schmähen.»

Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

Da aber Paulus wußte, daß der eine Teil aus Sadduzäern, der andere aus Pharisäern bestand, rief er in die Ratsversammlung hinein: Ihr Männer und Brüder, ich bin ein Pharisäer und eines Pharisäers Sohn; wegen der Hoffnung und der Auferstehung der Toten werde ich gerichtet!
Entonces Pablo, sabiendo que la una parte era de Saduceos, y la otra de Fariseos, clamó en el concilio: Varones hermanos, yo soy Fariseo, hijo de Fariseo: de la esperanza y de la resurrección de los muertos soy yo juzgado.

Da aber ein großer Zwist entstand, befürchtete der Oberste, Paulus möchte von ihnen zerrissen werden, und er ließ die Truppe herabkommen und ihn aus ihrer Mitte reißen und in die Kaserne führen.
Y habiendo grande disensión, el tribuno, teniendo temor de que Pablo fuese despedazado de ellos, mandó venir soldados, y arrebatarle de en medio de ellos, y llevarle á la fortaleza.
And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.

Als aber der Schwestersohn des Paulus von diesem Anschlag hörte, kam er, ging in die Kaserne hinein und meldete es dem Paulus.

Da rief Paulus einen der Hauptleute zu sich und sprach: Führe diesen Jüngling zu dem Obersten, denn er hat ihm etwas zu melden.
Y Pablo, llamando á uno de los centuriones, dice: Lleva á este mancebo al tribuno, porque tiene cierto aviso que darle.
Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.

Der nahm ihn und führte ihn zu dem Obersten und sprach: Der Gefangene Paulus rief mich zu sich und bat mich, diesen Jüngling zu dir zu führen, der dir etwas zu sagen habe.
El entonces tomándole, le llevó al tribuno, y dijo: El preso Pablo, llamándome, me rogó que trajese á ti este mancebo, que tiene algo que hablarte.
So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
So he took him and brought him to the commanding officer and said, “Paul, the prisoner, summoned me and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to tell you.”
Da nahm ihn der Oberste bei der Hand, ging mit ihm beiseite und fragte ihn: Was hast du mir zu melden?
Y el tribuno, tomándole de la mano y retirándose aparte, le preguntó: ¿Qué es lo que tienes que decirme?
Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?

Und er sprach: Die Juden sind übereingekommen, dich zu bitten, daß du morgen Paulus in den Hohen Rat hinabführen lassest, da sie seine Sache noch genauer untersuchen möchten.
Y él dijo: Los Judíos han concertado rogarte que mañana saques á Pablo al concilio, como que han de inquirir de él alguna cosa más cierta.
And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
He said, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though intending to inquire somewhat more accurately concerning him.
Laß dich aber nicht von ihnen bereden, denn mehr als vierzig Männer von ihnen stellen ihm nach; die haben sich verschworen, weder zu essen noch zu trinken, bis sie ihn umgebracht haben, und jetzt sind sie bereit und warten auf deine Zusage.
Mas tú no los creas; porque más de cuarenta hombres de ellos le acechan, los cuales han hecho voto debajo de maldición, de no comer ni beber hasta que le hayan muerto; y ahora están apercibidos esperando tu promesa.
But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
Therefore don’t yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse to neither eat nor drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you.”
Nun entließ der Oberste den Jüngling und gebot ihm, niemandem zu sagen, daß er ihm solches angezeigt habe.
Entonces el tribuno despidió al mancebo, mandándole que á nadie dijese que le había dado aviso de esto.
So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.
So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, “Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me.”
Und er ließ zwei Hauptleute zu sich rufen und sprach: Haltet zweihundert Soldaten bereit, damit sie nach Cäsarea ziehen, dazu siebzig Reiter und zweihundert Schleuderer, von der dritten Stunde der Nacht an;

And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Cæsarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred men armed with spears, at the third hour of the night.”

Diesen Mann, den die Juden ergriffen haben und umbringen wollten, habe ich mit Hilfe der Truppe befreit, da ich vernahm, daß er ein Römer sei.
A este hombre, aprehendido de los Judíos, y que iban ellos á matar, libré yo acudiendo con la tropa, habiendo entendido que era Romano.
This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
“This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.
Da ich aber den Grund ihrer Anklage gegen ihn ermitteln wollte, führte ich ihn in ihren Hohen Rat hinab.

Da fand ich, daß er wegen Streitfragen ihres Gesetzes angeklagt werde, aber keine Anklage auf sich habe, die des Todes oder der Bande wert wäre.

Da mir aber angezeigt wurde, daß eine Verschwörung gegen diesen Mann bestehe, so habe ich ihn sogleich zu dir geschickt und auch den Klägern befohlen, sich seinetwegen an dich zu wenden. Lebe wohl!»
Mas siéndome dado aviso de asechanzas que le habían aparejado los Judíos, luego al punto le he enviado á ti, intimando también á los acusadores que traten delante de ti lo que tienen contra él. Pásalo bien.
And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell.

Die Kriegsknechte nun nahmen den Paulus, wie ihnen befohlen war, und führten ihn bei Nacht nach Antipatris.

Nachdem aber der Landpfleger den Brief gelesen und auf die Frage, aus welcher Provinz er wäre, erfahren hatte, daß er aus Cilicien sei, sprach er:

I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.
“I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive.” He commanded that he be kept in Herod’s palace.
