Da aber der Lärm zu groß ward, besorgte der Oberste, Paulus möchte von ihnen zerrissen werden, und befahl der Mannschaft, ihn aus ihrer Mitte wegzunehmen und in das Lager zu führen.

So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.

Da nahm ihn der Oberste bei der Hand, trat mit ihm beiseite und fragte ihn: Was ist es, das du mir zu berichten hast?

Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?

Er aber sagte: Die Juden sind eins geworden, dich zu bitten, Paulus morgen in den Rat herabzuführen, als hätten sie vor, seine Angelegenheit genauer zu untersuchen.
Y él dijo: Los Judíos han concertado rogarte que mañana saques á Pablo al concilio, como que han de inquirir de él alguna cosa más cierta.
And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
He said, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though intending to inquire somewhat more accurately concerning him.
Du aber traue ihnen nicht; denn mehr denn vierzig Männer unter ihnen halten auf ihn, und haben sich verbannt, weder zu essen noch zu trinken, bis daß sie ihn umgebracht hätten, und sind schon bereit und warten auf Nachricht von dir.
Mas tú no los creas; porque más de cuarenta hombres de ellos le acechan, los cuales han hecho voto debajo de maldición, de no comer ni beber hasta que le hayan muerto; y ahora están apercibidos esperando tu promesa.
But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
Therefore don’t yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse to neither eat nor drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you.”
Der Oberste entließ nun den Jungen und verbot ihm, weiter zu sagen, daß er ihm diese Anzeige machte.

So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.
So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, “Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me.”
Er ließ nun zwei der Hauptleute rufen und sagte: Haltet zweihundert Kriegsknechte bereit, daß sie nach Cäsarea ziehen, und mit ihnen siebzig Reiter und zweihundert Schleuderer, auf die dritte Stunde der Nacht.

This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
