ENTONCES Agripa dijo á Pablo: Se te permite hablar por ti mismo. Pablo entonces, extendiendo la mano, comenzó á responder por sí, diciendo:
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou art permitted to speak for thyself. Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself:
Agrippa said to Paul, “You may speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand, and made his defense.
Tengo a gran dicha mía, ¡oh rey Agripa!, el poder justificarme ante ti en el día de hoy, de todos los cargos de que me acusan los judíos.
Acerca de todas las cosas de que soy acusado por los Judíos, oh rey Agripa, me tengo por dichoso de que haya hoy de defenderme delante de ti;
I think myself happy, king Agrippa, because I shall answer for myself this day before thee touching all the things whereof I am accused of the Jews:
“I think myself happy, King Agrippa, that I am to make my defense before you today concerning all the things that I am accused by the Jews,
Mayormente sabiendo tú todas las costumbres de los judíos y las cuestiones que se agitan entre ellos; por lo cual te suplico que me oigas con paciencia.

Especially because I know thee to be expert in all customs and questions which are among the Jews: wherefore I beseech thee to hear me patiently.

Y en primer lugar, por lo que hace al tenor de vida, que observé en Jerusalén , desde mi juventud entre los de mi nación, es bien notorio a todos los judíos.
Mi vida pues desde la mocedad, la cual desde el principio fué en mi nación, en Jerusalem, todos los Judíos la saben:
My manner of life from my youth, which was at the first among mine own nation at Jerusalem, know all the Jews;
“Indeed, all the Jews know my way of life from my youth up, which was from the beginning among my own nation and at Jerusalem;
Sabedores son de antemano (si quieren confesar la verdad) que yo, siguiendo desde mis primeros años la secta o profesión más segura de nuestra religión, viví cual fariseo.
Los cuales tienen ya conocido que yo desde el principio, si quieren testificarlo, conforme á la más rigurosa secta de nuestra religión he vivido Fariseo.
Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

Y ahora soy acusado en juicio por la esperanza que tengo de la promesa hecha por Dios a nuestros padres,

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:

promesa cuyo cumplimiento esperan nuestras doce tribus, sirviendo a Dios noche y día. Por esta esperanza, ¡oh rey!, soy acusado yo de los judíos.
A la cual promesa nuestras doce tribus, sirviendo constantemente de día y de noche, esperan que han de llegar. Por la cual esperanza, oh rey Agripa, soy acusado de los Judíos.
Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope’s sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

Yo por mí estaba persuadido de que debía proceder hostilmente contra el Nombre de Jesús Nazareno,

I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

como ya lo hice en Jerusalén , donde no sólo metí a muchos de los santos, o fieles, en las cárceles, con poderes que para ello recibí de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, sino que siendo condenados a muerte yo di también mi consentimiento.

En este estado, yendo un día a Damasco con poderes y comisión de los príncipes de los sacerdotes,

At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

Y habiendo todos nosotros caído en tierra, oí una voz que me decía en lengua hebrea: ¡Saulo, Saulo!, ¿por qué me persigues?; duro empeño es para ti el dar coces contra el aguijón.

Y yo te libraré de las manos de este pueblo y de los gentiles, a los cuales ahora te envío,
Librándote del pueblo y de los Gentiles, á los cuales ahora te envío,
Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee,
delivering you from the people and from the Gentiles, to whom I send you,
a abrirles los ojos, para que se conviertan de las tinieblas a la luz, y del poder de Satanás a Dios, y con esto reciban la remisión de sus pecados, y tengan parte en la herencia de los santos, mediante la fe en mí.
Para que abras sus ojos, para que se conviertan de las tinieblas á la luz, y de la potestad de Satanás á Dios; para que reciban, por la fe que es en mí, remisión de pecados y suerte entre los santificados.
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

Así que, ¡oh rey Agripa!, no fui rebelde a la visión celestial;

Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
“Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision,
antes bien empecé a predicar primeramente a los judíos que están en Damasco, y en Jerusalén , y por todo el país de Judea, y después a los gentiles, que hiciesen penitencia, y se convirtiesen a Dios, haciendo dignas obras de penitencia.
Antes anuncié primeramente á los que están en Damasco, y Jerusalem, y por toda la tierra de Judea, y á los Gentiles, que se arrepintiesen y se convirtiesen á Dios, haciendo obras dignas de arrepentimiento.
But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judæa, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Por esta causa los judíos me prendieron, estando yo en el templo, e intentaban matarme.

Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:

es a saber, que Cristo había de padecer la muerte, y que sería el primero que resucitaría de entre los muertos, y había de mostrar la luz de la buena nueva a este pueblo y a los gentiles.
Que Cristo había de padecer, y ser el primero de la resurrección de los muertos, para anunciar luz al pueblo y á los Gentiles.
That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.

Diciendo él esto en su defensa, exclamó Festo: Pablo, tú estás loco: las muchas letras te han trastornado el juicio.
Y diciendo él estas cosas en su defensa, Festo á gran voz dijo: Estás loco, Pablo: las muchas letras te vuelven loco.
And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad.
As he thus made his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are crazy! Your great learning is driving you insane!”
Y Pablo le respondió: No deliro, óptimo Festo, sino que hablo palabras de verdad y de cordura.
Mas él dijo: No estoy loco, excelentísimo Festo, sino que hablo palabras de verdad y de templanza.
But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.
But he said, “I am not crazy, most excellent Festus, but boldly declare words of truth and reasonableness.
Que bien sabidas son del rey estas cosas, y por lo mismo hablo delante de él con tanta confianza, bien persuadido de que nada de esto ignora, puesto que ninguna de las cosas mencionadas se ha ejecutado en algún rincón oculto.
Pues el rey sabe estas cosas, delante del cual también hablo confiadamente. Pues no pienso que ignora nada de esto; pues no ha sido esto hecho en algún rincón.
For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner.

¡Oh rey Agripa! ¿Crees tú en los profetas? Yo sé que crees en ellos.
¿Crees, rey Agripa, á los profetas? Yo sé que crees.
King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know that you believe.”
A esto Agripa sonriéndose, respondió a Pablo: Poco falta para que me persuadas a hacerme cristiano.
Entonces Agripa dijo á Pablo: Por poco me persuades á ser Cristiano.
Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
Agrippa said to Paul, “With a little persuasion are you trying to make me a Christian?”
A lo que contestó Pablo: Quiera Dios, como deseo, que no solamente faltara poco, sino que no faltara nada, para que tú y todos cuantos me oyen llegaseis a ser hoy tales cual soy yo, salvo estas cadenas.
Y Pablo dijo: ¡Pluguiese á Dios que por poco ó por mucho, no solamente tú, mas también todos los que hoy me oyen, fueseis hechos tales cual yo soy, excepto estas prisiones!
And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
Paul said, “I pray to God, that whether with little or with much, not only you, but also all that hear me today, might become such as I am, except for these bonds.”
Aquí se levantaron el rey, y el gobernador, y Berenice, y los que les hacían la corte.
Y como hubo dicho estas cosas, se levantó el rey, y el presidente, y Bernice, y los que se habían sentado con ellos;
And when he had thus spoken, the king rose up, and the governor, and Bernice, and they that sat with them:
The king rose up with the governor and Bernice, and those who sat with them.
Y habiéndose retirado aparte hablaban entre sí, y decían: En efecto, este hombre no ha hecho cosa digna de muerte, ni de prisión.
Y como se retiraron aparte, hablaban los unos á los otros, diciendo: Ninguna cosa digna ni de muerte, ni de prisión, hace este hombre.
And when they were gone aside, they talked between themselves, saying, This man doeth nothing worthy of death or of bonds.
When they had withdrawn, they spoke to one another, saying, “This man does nothing worthy of death or of bonds.”
Y Agripa dijo a Festo: Si no hubiese ya apelado a César, bien se le pudiera poner en libertad.
Y Agripa dijo á Festo: Podía este hombre ser suelto, si no hubiera apelado á César.
Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Cæsar.
Agrippa said to Festus, “This man might have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
