Als aber das Schiff mitfortgerissen wurde und dem Wind nicht zu widerstehen vermochte, gaben wir uns preis und trieben dahin.

Y siendo arrebatada la nave, y no pudiendo resistir contra el viento, la dejamos, y éramos llevados.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

When the ship was caught and couldn’t face the wind, we gave way to it and were driven along.
