Foi resolvido assim que partiríamos para a nossa viagem de navio a Roma; de modo que Paulo e diversos outros presos foram postos debaixo da guarda de um centurião chamado Júlio, membro da guarda imperial.

MAS como fué determinado que habíamos de navegar para Italia, entregaron á Pablo y á algunos otros presos á un centurión, llamado Julio, de la compañía Augusta.

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.

Partimos num navio de Adramito, com destino à Ásia, o qual deveria fazer diversas escalas ao longo da costa asiática. Aristarco, um macedônio de Tessalônica, estava conosco.

Así que, embarcándonos en una nave Adrumentina, partimos, estando con nosotros Aristarco, Macedonio de Tesalónica, para navegar junto á los lugares de Asia.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

Embarking in a ship of Adramyttium, which was about to sail to places on the coast of Asia, we put to sea, Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica being with us.

No dia seguinte, quando ancoramos em Sidom, Júlio foi muito bondoso com Paulo e permitiu que ele descesse em terra para visitar amigos e receber os cuidados deles.

Y otro día llegamos á Sidón; y Julio, tratando á Pablo con humanidad, permitióle que fuese á los amigos, para ser de ellos asistido.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

Dali embarcamos e encontramos ventos contrários, que tornavam difícil conservar o navio na rota, de modo que navegamos ao norte de Chipre, entre a ilha e a terra firme,

And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

e passamos ao longo da costa das províncias da Cilícia e da Panfília, chegando a Mirra, na província de Lícia.

Ali o nosso centurião encontrou um navio alexandrino que estava de partida para a Itália, e nos fez embarcar.

And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

Tivemos diversos dias de navegação difícil, e por fim nos aproximamos de Cnido, porém os ventos contrários haviam se tornado muito fortes, de modo que atravessamos para Creta, passando o porto de Salmona.

Y navegando muchos días despacio, y habiendo apenas llegado delante de Gnido, no dejándonos el viento, navegamos bajo de Creta, junto á Salmón.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

Lutamos sem resultado contra o vento e com grande dificuldade navegamos devagar ao longo da costa sul, até que chegamos a Bons Portos, perto da cidade de Laseia.

Y costeándola difícilmente, llegamos á un lugar que llaman Buenos Puertos, cerca del cual estaba la ciudad de Lasea.

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

With difficulty sailing along it we came to a certain place called Fair Havens, near the city of Lasea.

Ali passamos diversos dias. O tempo estava ficando perigoso para viagens longas naquela época, porque já havia passado o Jejum, e Paulo avisou:

Y pasado mucho tiempo, y siendo ya peligrosa la navegación, porque ya era pasado el ayuno, Pablo amonestaba,

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

When much time had passed and the voyage was now dangerous because the Fast had now already gone by, Paul admonished them

“Senhores, eu vejo que vamos ter dificuldades pela frente se prosseguirmos. Acarretará prejuízos para o navio, para a carga e para as nossas vidas”.

Diciéndoles: Varones, veo que con trabajo y mucho daño, no sólo de la cargazón y de la nave, mas aun de nuestras personas, habrá de ser la navegación.

And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

and said to them, “Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.”

Mas o centurião responsável pelos presos deu mais ouvidos ao capitão e ao proprietário do navio do que a Paulo.

Mas el centurión creía más al piloto y al patrón de la nave, que á lo que Pablo decía.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.

E já que Bons Portos era uma enseada aberta, imprópria para passar o inverno, a maioria da tripulação aconselhou que deveríamos continuar navegando, com a esperança de alcançar a costa de Fenice, a fim de passarmos o inverno ali; Fenice era um porto de Creta, com abertura apenas para o noroeste e o sudoeste.

Y no habiendo puerto cómodo para invernar, muchos acordaron pasar aún de allí, por si pudiesen arribar á Fenice é invernar allí, que es un puerto de Creta que mira al Nordeste y Sudeste.

And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

Because the haven was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised going to sea from there, if by any means they could reach Phoenix and winter there, which is a port of Crete, looking southwest and northwest.

Nesse momento um vento leve começou a soprar do sul, e pareceu um dia perfeito para a viagem; então eles levantaram âncora e navegaram costeando bem perto de Creta.

Y soplando el austro, pareciéndoles que ya tenían lo que deseaban, alzando velas, iban cerca de la costa de Creta.

And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

Porém logo depois disto o tempo mudou de repente, e um forte vento com a força de um furacão, chamado Nordeste,

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

But before long, a stormy wind beat down from shore, which is called Euroclydon.

se abateu sobre o navio e o empurrou para o mar. Eles tentaram a princípio virar a proa para a praia, mas não puderam, de modo que desistiram e deixaram o navio à deriva.

Y siendo arrebatada la nave, y no pudiendo resistir contra el viento, la dejamos, y éramos llevados.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

When the ship was caught and couldn’t face the wind, we gave way to it and were driven along.

Finalmente navegamos por trás de uma ilha pequena chamada Clauda, onde com grande dificuldade levantamos para bordo o bote salva-vidas que viajava rebocado,

Y habiendo corrido á sotavento de una pequeña isla que se llama Clauda, apenas pudimos ganar el esquife:

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

Running under the lee of a small island called Clauda, we were able, with difficulty, to secure the boat.

e então amarramos o navio com cordas para fortalecer o casco. Os marinheiros estavam com medo de serem arrastados para os bancos de areia de Sirte, de modo que baixaram as velas superiores e se deixaram levar pelo vento.

El cual tomado, usaban de remedios, ciñendo la nave; y teniendo temor de que diesen en la Sirte, abajadas las velas, eran así llevados.

Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

After they had hoisted it up, they used cables to help reinforce the ship. Fearing that they would run aground on the Syrtis sand bars, they lowered the sea anchor, and so were driven along.

No dia seguinte, como as ondas se tornaram ainda mais violentas, a tripulação começou a jogar a carga ao mar.

Mas siendo atormentados de una vehemente tempestad, al siguiente día alijaron;

And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

As we labored exceedingly with the storm, the next day they began to throw things overboard.

No terceiro dia eles jogaram fora com as próprias mãos a armação do navio.

Y al tercer día nosotros con nuestras manos arrojamos los aparejos de la nave.

And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

On the third day, they threw out the ship’s tackle with their own hands.

A terrível tempestade continuou sem diminuir durante muitos dias, não nos deixando ver o sol nem as estrelas, até que finalmente toda a esperança de salvamento acabou.

Y no pareciendo sol ni estrellas por muchos días, y viniendo una tempestad no pequeña, ya era perdida toda la esperanza de nuestra salud.

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.

Ninguém tinha comido por um longo tempo, mas Paulo finalmente se levantou no meio da tripulação e disse: “Homens, vocês deveriam ter-me dado ouvidos no início e não ter deixado Bons Portos, pois assim teriam evitado todo este prejuízo e esta perda!

Entonces Pablo, habiendo ya mucho que no comíamos, puesto en pie en medio de ellos, dijo: Fuera de cierto conveniente, oh varones, haberme oído, y no partir de Creta, y evitar este inconveniente y daño.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them and said, “Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete and have gotten this injury and loss.

Mas tenham ânimo! Nenhum de nós perderá a vida; somente o navio será destruído,

Mas ahora os amonesto que tengáis buen ánimo; porque ninguna pérdida habrá de persona de vosotros, sino solamente de la nave.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

porque ontem à noite um anjo do Deus a quem eu pertenço e a quem sirvo se pôs de pé ao meu lado, dizendo:

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

‘Não tenha medo, Paulo, porque você sem falta será julgado diante de César! Deus concedeu o seu pedido e salvará a vida de todos os que navegam com você’.

Diciendo: Pablo, no temas; es menester que seas presentado delante de César; y he aquí, Dios te ha dado todos los que navegan contigo.

Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Cæsar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

saying, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’

Portanto, tenham coragem! Pois eu creio em Deus que ocorrerá exatamente como ele disse!

Por tanto, oh varones, tened buen ánimo; porque yo confío en Dios que será así como me ha dicho;

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

Therefore, sirs, cheer up! For I believe God, that it will be just as it has been spoken to me.

Iremos ser arrastados para uma ilha”.

Si bien es menester que demos en una isla.

Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

But we must run aground on a certain island.”

Na décima quarta noite de tempestade, perto da meia-noite, enquanto éramos jogados de um lado para o outro no mar Adriático, os marinheiros desconfiaram que a terra estava próxima.

Y venida la décimacuarta noche, y siendo llevados por el mar Adriático, los marineros á la media noche sospecharon que estaban cerca de alguna tierra;

But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

Lançaram a sonda e verificaram que a profundidade era de 37 metros. Um pouco adiante, lançaram novamente a sonda e acharam apenas 27 metros.

Y echando la sonda, hallaron veinte brazas; y pasando un poco más adelante, volviendo á echar la sonda, hallaron quince brazas.

And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

They took soundings and found twenty fathoms. After a little while, they took soundings again, and found fifteen fathoms.

Nessa proporção, eles sabiam que dali a pouco seriam levados à praia; e com medo de que houvesse rochedos ao longo da costa, lançaram quatro âncoras pela popa e oravam para que amanhecesse o dia.

Y habiendo temor de dar en lugares escabrosos, echando cuatro anclas de la popa, deseaban que se hiciese de día.

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.

Alguns dos marinheiros planejaram escapar do navio, e baixaram o bote salva-vidas, dando como desculpa que iam lançar âncoras pela proa.

Entonces procurando los marineros huir de la nave, echado que hubieron el esquife á la mar, aparentando como que querían largar las anclas de proa,

And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

As the sailors were trying to flee out of the ship and had lowered the boat into the sea, pretending that they would lay out anchors from the bow,

Mas Paulo disse aos soldados e ao centurião: “Vocês vão morrer todos, se esses homens não ficarem a bordo”.

Pablo dijo al centurión y á los soldados: Si éstos no quedan en la nave, vosotros no podéis salvaros.

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

Então os soldados cortaram as cordas e deixaram o barco salva-vidas cair.

Quando a escuridão deu lugar à primeira luz da manhã, Paulo insistiu que todos comessem. “Vocês não têm comido nada há duas semanas”, dizia ele.

Y como comenzó á ser de día, Pablo exhortaba á todos que comiesen, diciendo: Este es el décimocuarto día que esperáis y permanecéis ayunos, no comiendo nada.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

While the day was coming on, Paul begged them all to take some food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day that you wait and continue fasting, having taken nothing.

“Eu aconselho que comam alguma coisa agora para salvarem suas próprias vidas! Porque não se perderá nem um cabelo da cabeça de vocês!”

Por tanto, os ruego que comáis por vuestra salud: que ni aun un cabello de la cabeza de ninguno de vosotros perecerá.

Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

Therefore I beg you to take some food, for this is for your safety; for not a hair will perish from any of your heads.”

Então ele tomou pão, deu graças a Deus na presença de todos, partiu em pedaços e comeu.

Y habiendo dicho esto, tomando el pan, hizo gracias á Dios en presencia de todos, y partiendo, comenzó á comer.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

When he had said this and had taken bread, he gave thanks to God in the presence of all; then he broke it and began to eat.

De repente todos se sentiram melhor e também começamos a comer.

Entonces todos teniendo ya mejor ánimo, comieron ellos también.

Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

Then they all cheered up, and they also took food.

Estavam a bordo duzentas e setenta e seis pessoas.

Y éramos todas las personas en la nave doscientas setenta y seis.

And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls.

In all, we were two hundred seventy-six souls on the ship.

Depois de comer até ficar satisfeitos, a tripulação aliviou o navio mais um pouco, jogando ao mar todo o trigo.

Y satisfechos de comida, aliviaban la nave, echando el grano á la mar.

And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

Quando amanheceu, eles não reconheceram a terra, mas notaram uma enseada com uma praia; e faziam cálculos se podiam passar entre os rochedos e ser levados até a praia.

Y como se hizo de día, no conocían la tierra: mas veían un golfo que tenía orilla, al cual acordaron echar, si pudiesen, la nave.

And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

When it was day, they didn’t recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.

Finalmente decidiram tentar. Cortaram as âncoras e as deixaram no mar; baixaram os lemes, levantaram a vela da proa e rumaram para a praia.

Cortando pues las anclas, las dejaron en la mar, largando también las ataduras de los gobernalles; y alzada la vela mayor al viento, íbanse á la orilla.

And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.

Mas o navio deu num banco de areia onde batiam ondas dos dois lados e encalhou. A proa ficou bem presa, enquanto a popa ficou exposta à violência das ondas e começou a partir-se em pedaços.

Mas dando en un lugar de dos aguas, hicieron encallar la nave; y la proa, hincada, estaba sin moverse, y la popa se abría con la fuerza de la mar.

And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

But coming to a place where two seas met, they ran the vessel aground. The bow struck and remained immovable, but the stern began to break up by the violence of the waves.

Os soldados resolveram matar os presos, para que nenhum deles nadasse para a praia e fugisse.

Entonces el acuerdo de los soldados era que matasen los presos, porque ninguno se fugase nadando.

And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

Mas o centurião queria poupar a vida de Paulo, e não permitiu que executassem seu plano. Então ordenou que todos os que sabiam nadar saltassem ao mar e fossem para a terra.

Mas el centurión, queriendo salvar á Pablo, estorbó este acuerdo, y mandó que los que pudiesen nadar, se echasen los primeros, y saliesen á tierra;

But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

But the centurion, desiring to save Paul, stopped them from their purpose, and commanded that those who could swim should throw themselves overboard first to go toward the land;

E mandou que os outros se salvassem segurando-se em tábuas ou pedaços do navio. Assim todos escaparam e alcançaram a praia em segurança!

Y los demás, parte en tablas, parte en cosas de la nave. Y así aconteció que todos se salvaron saliendo á tierra.

And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

and the rest should follow, some on planks and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.
