Cuando se decidió que habíamos de navegar para Italia, entregaron a Pablo y a algunos otros presos a un centurión llamado Julio, de la compañía Augusta.

MAS como fué determinado que habíamos de navegar para Italia, entregaron á Pablo y á algunos otros presos á un centurión, llamado Julio, de la compañía Augusta.

And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus’ band.

When it was determined that we should sail for Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners to a centurion named Julius, of the Augustan band.

Y embarcándonos en una nave adramitena que iba a tocar los puertos de Asia, zarpamos, estando con nosotros Aristarco, macedonio de Tesalónica.

Así que, embarcándonos en una nave Adrumentina, partimos, estando con nosotros Aristarco, Macedonio de Tesalónica, para navegar junto á los lugares de Asia.

And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia; one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

Embarking in a ship of Adramyttium, which was about to sail to places on the coast of Asia, we put to sea, Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica being with us.

Al otro día llegamos a Sidón; y Julio, tratando humanamente a Pablo, le permitió que fuese a los amigos, para ser atendido por ellos.

Y otro día llegamos á Sidón; y Julio, tratando á Pablo con humanidad, permitióle que fuese á los amigos, para ser de ellos asistido.

And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

Y haciéndonos a la vela desde allí, navegamos a sotavento de Chipre, porque los vientos eran contrarios.

And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

Y habiendo pasado mucho tiempo, y siendo ya peligrosa la navegación, por haber pasado ya el ayuno, Pablo les amonestaba,

Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

diciéndoles: Varones, veo que la navegación va a ser con perjuicio y mucha pérdida, no sólo del cargamento y de la nave, sino también de nuestras almas †personas.

Diciéndoles: Varones, veo que con trabajo y mucho daño, no sólo de la cargazón y de la nave, mas aun de nuestras personas, habrá de ser la navegación.

And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

and said to them, “Sirs, I perceive that the voyage will be with injury and much loss, not only of the cargo and the ship, but also of our lives.”

Pero el centurión daba más crédito al piloto y al patrón de la nave, que a lo que Pablo decía.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

But the centurion gave more heed to the master and to the owner of the ship than to those things which were spoken by Paul.

Y siendo incómodo el puerto para invernar, la mayoría acordó zarpar también de allí, «por si» pudiesen arribar a Fenice, puerto de Creta que mira al nordeste y sudeste, e invernar allí.

Y no habiendo puerto cómodo para invernar, muchos acordaron pasar aún de allí, por si pudiesen arribar á Fenice é invernar allí, que es un puerto de Creta que mira al Nordeste y Sudeste.

And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

Because the haven was not suitable to winter in, the majority advised going to sea from there, if by any means they could reach Phoenix and winter there, which is a port of Crete, looking southwest and northwest.

Y soplando una brisa del sur, pareciéndoles que ya tenían lo que deseaban, levaron anclas e iban costeando Creta.

And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

Pero no mucho después dio contra la nave un viento huracanado llamado Euroclidón.

Mas no mucho después dió en ella un viento repentino, que se llama Euroclidón.

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

But before long, a stormy wind beat down from shore, which is called Euroclydon.

Y siendo arrebatada la nave, y no pudiendo poner proa al viento, nos abandonamos a él y nos dejamos llevar.

And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

Y habiendo corrido a sotavento de una pequeña isla llamada Clauda, con dificultad pudimos recoger el esquife.

And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

Running under the lee of a small island called Clauda, we were able, with difficulty, to secure the boat.

Y una vez subido a bordo, usaron de refuerzos para ceñir la nave; y teniendo temor de dar en la Sirte, arriaron las velas y quedaron a la deriva.

El cual tomado, usaban de remedios, ciñendo la nave; y teniendo temor de que diesen en la Sirte, abajadas las velas, eran así llevados.

Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

After they had hoisted it up, they used cables to help reinforce the ship. Fearing that they would run aground on the Syrtis sand bars, they lowered the sea anchor, and so were driven along.

Pero siendo combatidos por una furiosa tempestad, al siguiente día empezaron a alijar,

Mas siendo atormentados de una vehemente tempestad, al siguiente día alijaron;

And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

As we labored exceedingly with the storm, the next day they began to throw things overboard.

y al tercer día con nuestras propias manos arrojamos los aparejos de la nave.

And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

On the third day, they threw out the ship’s tackle with their own hands.

Y no apareciendo ni sol ni estrellas por muchos días, y acosados por una tempestad no pequeña, ya habíamos perdido toda esperanza de salvarnos.

Y no pareciendo sol ni estrellas por muchos días, y viniendo una tempestad no pequeña, ya era perdida toda la esperanza de nuestra salud.

And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

When neither sun nor stars shone on us for many days, and no small storm pressed on us, all hope that we would be saved was now taken away.

Entonces Pablo, «como hacía ya» mucho «que no comíamos,» puesto en pie en medio de ellos, dijo: Habría sido por cierto conveniente, oh varones, haberme escuchado, y no zarpar de Creta tan sólo para recibir este perjuicio y pérdida.

Entonces Pablo, habiendo ya mucho que no comíamos, puesto en pie en medio de ellos, dijo: Fuera de cierto conveniente, oh varones, haberme oído, y no partir de Creta, y evitar este inconveniente y daño.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

When they had been long without food, Paul stood up in the middle of them and said, “Sirs, you should have listened to me, and not have set sail from Crete and have gotten this injury and loss.

Pero ahora les exhorto a tener buen ánimo, puesto que no habrá ninguna pérdida de vida entre ustedes, sino solamente de la nave.

Mas ahora os amonesto que tengáis buen ánimo; porque ninguna pérdida habrá de persona de vosotros, sino solamente de la nave.

And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man’s life among you, but of the ship.

Now I exhort you to cheer up, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

Porque esta noche ha estado conmigo el ángel del Dios de quien soy y a quien sirvo,

For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

diciendo: Pablo, no temas; es necesario que comparezcas ante César; y he aquí, Dios te ha concedido todos los que navegan contigo.

Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Cæsar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

saying, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. Behold, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’

Por tanto, oh varones, tengan buen ánimo; porque yo confío en Dios que será así como se me ha dicho.

Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

Venida la decimocuarta noche, y siendo llevados a través del mar Adriático, a la medianoche los marineros sospecharon que estaban cerca de tierra;

But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

Fearing that we would run aground on rocky ground, they let go four anchors from the stern, and wished for daylight.

Entonces los marineros procuraron huir de la nave, y echando el esquife al mar, aparentaban como que querían largar las anclas de proa.

And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

As the sailors were trying to flee out of the ship and had lowered the boat into the sea, pretending that they would lay out anchors from the bow,

Pero Pablo dijo al centurión y a los soldados: Si éstos no permanecen en la nave, ustedes no pueden salvarse.

Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

Entonces los soldados cortaron las amarras del esquife y lo dejaron perderse.

Cuando comenzó «a amanecer,» Pablo exhortaba a todos que comiesen, diciendo: Este es el decimocuarto día que velan y permanecen en ayunas, sin comer nada.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

Por tanto, les ruego «que coman» por su †de ustedes salud; pues ni aun un cabello de la cabeza de ninguno de ustedes perecerá.

Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

Y habiendo dicho esto, tomó el pan y dio gracias a Dios en presencia de todos, y partiéndolo, comenzó a comer.

And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

Y ya satisfechos, aligeraron la nave, echando el trigo al mar.

And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

Cuando se hizo de día, no reconocían la tierra, pero veían una ensenada que tenía playa, en la cual acordaron varar, si pudiesen, la nave.

And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

When it was day, they didn’t recognize the land, but they noticed a certain bay with a beach, and they decided to try to drive the ship onto it.

Cortando, por lo tanto, las anclas, las dejaron en el mar, largando también las amarras del timón; e izada al viento la vela de proa, enfilaron hacia la playa.

And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

Casting off the anchors, they left them in the sea, at the same time untying the rudder ropes. Hoisting up the foresail to the wind, they made for the beach.

Pero dando en un lugar de dos aguas, hicieron encallar la nave; y la proa, hincada, quedó inmóvil, y la popa se abría con la violencia del mar.

And falling into a place where two seas met, they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.

and the rest should follow, some on planks and some on other things from the ship. So they all escaped safely to the land.
