Et après avoir été sauvés, nous reconnûmes alors que l'île s'appelait Malte.

Y CUANDO escapamos, entonces supimos que la isla se llamaba Melita.

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

When we had escaped, then they learned that the island was called Malta.

Et les barbares nous montrèrent une humanité peu ordinaire ; en effet, ayant allumé un grand feu, ils nous en firent tous approcher, à cause de la pluie qui s'était établie, et à cause du froid.

Y los bárbaros nos mostraron no poca humanidad; porque, encendido un fuego, nos recibieron á todos, á causa de la lluvia que venía, y del frío.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

The natives showed us uncommon kindness; for they kindled a fire and received us all, because of the present rain and because of the cold.

Mais Paul, ayant ramassé une certaine quantité de bois sec et l'ayant mis sur le feu, une vipère en sortit, par l'effet de la chaleur, et s'attacha à sa main.

Entonces habiendo Pablo recogido algunos sarmientos, y puéstolos en el fuego, una víbora, huyendo del calor, le acometió á la mano.

And when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks, and laid them on the fire, there came a viper out of the heat, and fastened on his hand.

Et quand les barbares virent la bête suspendue à sa main, ils se dirent les uns aux autres : Assurément cet homme est un meurtrier, puisque, après qu'il a été sauvé de la mer, la Justice n'a pas permis qu'il vécût.

Y como los bárbaros vieron la víbora colgando de su mano, decían los unos á los otros: Ciertamente este hombre es homicida, á quien, escapado de la mar, la justicia no deja vivir.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”

Lui donc, ayant secoué la bête dans le feu, n'en éprouva aucun mal.

Mas él, sacudiendo la víbora en el fuego, ningún mal padeció.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

However he shook off the creature into the fire, and wasn’t harmed.

Eux cependant s'attendaient à ce qu'il enflerait ou tomberait mort subitement. Mais ayant attendu longtemps, et voyant qu'il ne lui arrivait rien d'extraordinaire, ayant changé de sentiment, ils disaient que c'était un dieu.

Empero ellos estaban esperando cuándo se había de hinchar, ó caer muerto de repente; mas habiendo esperado mucho, y viendo que ningún mal le venía, mudados, decían que era un dios.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

But they expected that he would have swollen or fallen down dead suddenly, but when they watched for a long time and saw nothing bad happen to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

Or, aux environs de ce lieu, se trouvaient des terres qui appartenaient au premier personnage de l'île, nommé Publius, qui nous reçut et nous logea amicalement durant trois jours.

En aquellos lugares había heredades del principal de la isla, llamado Publio, el cual nos recibió y hospedó tres días humanamente.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and courteously entertained us for three days.

Or il arriva que le père de Publius était au lit, malade de la fièvre et de la dysenterie. Paul étant entré auprès de lui, et ayant prié, le guérit en lui imposant les mains.

Y aconteció que el padre de Publio estaba en cama, enfermo de fiebres y de disentería: al cual Pablo entró, y después de haber orado, le puso las manos encima, y le sanó:

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

Cela étant donc arrivé, les autres habitants de l'île qui étaient malades vinrent aussi, et ils étaient guéris.

Y esto hecho, también los otros que en la isla tenían enfermedades, llegaban, y eran sanados:

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.

Ils nous rendirent aussi de grands honneurs, et, à notre départ, ils nous pourvurent de ce qui nous était nécessaire.

Los cuales también nos honraron con muchos obsequios; y cuando partimos, nos cargaron de las cosas necesarias.

Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

They also honored us with many honors; and when we sailed, they put on board the things that we needed.

Or au bout de trois mois nous nous embarquâmes sur un vaisseau d'Alexandrie qui avait passé l'hiver dans l'île, et qui portait pour enseigne les Dioscures.

Así que, pasados tres meses, navegamos en una nave Alejandrina que había invernado en la isla, la cual tenía por enseña á Cástor y Pólux.

And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

After three months, we set sail in a ship of Alexandria which had wintered in the island, whose figurehead was “The Twin Brothers.”

Et ayant abordé à Syracuse, nous y demeurâmes trois jours.

Y llegados á Siracusa, estuvimos allí tres días.

And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.

De là, en longeant la côte, nous arrivâmes à Reggio. Et un jour après, le vent du sud s'étant levé, nous vînmes en deux jours à Pouzzoles ;

De allí, costeando alrededor, vinimos á Regio; y otro día después, soplando el austro, vinimos al segundo día á Puteolos:

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

où ayant trouvé des frères, nous fûmes priés de demeurer avec eux sept jours : et ainsi nous vînmes à Rome.

Donde habiendo hallado hermanos, nos rogaron que quedásemos con ellos siete días; y luego vinimos á Roma;

Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

Et de là les frères, ayant appris ce qui nous concernait, vinrent au-devant de nous jusqu'au forum d'Appius, et aux Trois-Tavernes ; et Paul les voyant, rendit grâces à Dieu, et prit courage.

De donde, oyendo de nosotros los hermanos, nos salieron á recibir hasta la plaza de Appio, y Las Tres Tabernas: á los cuales como Pablo vió, dió gracias á Dios, y tomó aliento.

And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

Et quand nous fûmes arrivés à Rome, le centenier remit les prisonniers au préfet du prétoire ; mais à Paul il fut permis de demeurer en son particulier, avec le soldat qui le gardait.

Y como llegamos á Roma, el centurión entregó los presos al prefecto de los ejércitos, mas á Pablo fué permitido estar por sí, con un soldado que le guardase.

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

When we entered into Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard, but Paul was allowed to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

Or il arriva que, trois jours après, Paul convoqua les principaux des Juifs ; et quand ils furent réunis, il leur disait : Hommes frères, quoique je n'eusse rien commis contre le peuple ni contre les coutumes de nos pères, fait prisonnier à Jérusalem, j'ai été livré entre les mains des Romains,

Y aconteció que tres días después, Pablo convocó á los principales de los Judíos; á los cuales, luego que estuvieron juntos, les dijo: Yo, varones hermanos, no habiendo hecho nada contra el pueblo, ni contra los ritos de la patria, he sido entregado preso desde Jerusalem en manos de los Romanos;

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

After three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

qui, après m'avoir interrogé, voulaient me relâcher, parce qu'il n'y avait rien en moi qui méritât la mort.

Los cuales, habiéndome examinado, me querían soltar, por no haber en mí ninguna causa de muerte.

Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

Mais les Juifs s'y opposant, j'ai été contraint d'en appeler à César, sans que j'aie aucun dessein d'accuser ma nation.

But when the Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Cæsar; not that I had ought to accuse my nation of.

C'est donc pour ce sujet que j'ai demandé à vous voir et vous parler ; car c'est à cause de l'espérance d'Israël que je suis lié de cette chaîne.

Así que, por esta causa, os he llamado para veros y hablaros; porque por la esperanza de Israel estoy rodeado de esta cadena.

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

For this cause therefore I asked to see you and to speak with you. For because of the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.”

Et eux lui dirent : Nous n'avons point reçu de lettres de Judée à ton sujet ; et il n'est venu non plus aucun frère qui ait rapporté ou dit aucun mal de toi.

Entonces ellos le dijeron: Nosotros ni hemos recibido cartas tocante á ti de Judea, ni ha venido alguno de los hermanos que haya denunciado ó hablado algún mal de ti.

And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

Or nous estimons juste d'entendre de toi-même ce que tu penses ; car, à l'égard de cette secte, il nous est connu qu'on la contredit partout.

Mas querríamos oir de ti lo que sientes; porque de esta secta notorio nos es que en todos lugares es contradicha.

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

Et lui ayant assigné un jour, ils vinrent à lui, en plus grand nombre, dans son logis ; et depuis le matin jusqu'au soir, il leur exposait le royaume de Dieu, rendant témoignage, et cherchant à les persuader, par la loi de Moïse et par les prophètes, de ce qui regarde Jésus.

Y habiéndole señalado un día, vinieron á él muchos á la posada, á los cuales declaraba y testificaba el reino de Dios, persuadiéndoles lo concerniente á Jesús, por la ley de Moisés y por los profetas, desde la mañana hasta la tarde.

And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

When they had appointed him a day, many people came to him at his lodging. He explained to them, testifying about God’s Kingdom, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until evening.

Et les uns étaient persuadés par ce qu'il disait ; mais les autres ne croyaient point.

Y algunos asentían á lo que se decía, mas algunos no creían.

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Et n'étant pas d'accord entre eux, ils se retiraient, après que Paul leur eut dit une seule parole : C'est avec raison que l'Esprit-Saint a parlé à nos pères, par Esaïe le prophète, disant :

Y como fueron entre sí discordes, se fueron, diciendo Pablo esta palabra: Bien ha hablado el Espíritu Santo por el profeta Isaías á nuestros padres,

And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one message: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,

Va vers ce peuple et dis : Vous entendrez de vos oreilles, et vous ne comprendrez point ; et en regardant, vous regarderez, et vous ne verrez point.

Diciendo: Ve á este pueblo, y diles: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis:

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

saying, ‘Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.

Car le cœur de ce peuple s'est engraissé ; et ils ont ouï difficilement des oreilles, et ils ont fermé leurs yeux ; de peur qu'ils ne voient des yeux, et qu'ils n'entendent des oreilles, et qu'ils ne comprennent du cœur, et qu'ils ne se convertissent, et que je ne les guérisse.

Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y de los oídos oyeron pesadamente, y sus ojos taparon; porque no vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oídos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.’

Sachez donc que ce salut de Dieu a été envoyé aux païens ; et eux l'écouteront.

Séaos pues notorio que á los Gentiles es enviada esta salud de Dios: y ellos oirán.

Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

“Be it known therefore to you that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen.”

†Et quand il eut dit cela, les Juifs s'en allèrent, ayant de grandes contestations entre eux.

Y habiendo dicho esto, los Judíos salieron, teniendo entre sí gran contienda.

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

When he had said these words, the Jews departed, having a great dispute among themselves.

Mais Paul demeura deux ans entiers dans une maison qu'il avait louée, et il recevait tous ceux qui venaient le voir,

Pablo empero, quedó dos años enteros en su casa de alquiler, y recibía á todos los que á él venían,

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house and received all who were coming to him,

prêchant le royaume de Dieu, et enseignant les choses qui regardent le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, avec toute liberté, et sans être empêché.

Predicando el reino de Dios y enseñando lo que es del Señor Jesucristo con toda libertad, sin impedimento.

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

preaching God’s Kingdom and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.
