Und als wir gerettet waren, da erfuhren wir, daß die Insel Melite heiße.

Y CUANDO escapamos, entonces supimos que la isla se llamaba Melita.

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

When we had escaped, then they learned that the island was called Malta.

Die Eingeborenen aber erzeigten uns eine nicht gewöhnliche Freundlichkeit, denn sie zündeten ein Feuer an und nahmen uns alle zu sich wegen des eingetretenen Regens und wegen der Kälte.

Y los bárbaros nos mostraron no poca humanidad; porque, encendido un fuego, nos recibieron á todos, á causa de la lluvia que venía, y del frío.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

Als aber Paulus eine gewisse Menge Reiser zusammenraffte und auf das Feuer legte, kam infolge der Hitze eine Natter heraus und hängte sich an seine Hand.

Entonces habiendo Pablo recogido algunos sarmientos, y puéstolos en el fuego, una víbora, huyendo del calor, le acometió á la mano.

Als aber die Eingeborenen das Tier an seiner Hand hängen sahen, sagten sie zueinander: Jedenfalls ist dieser Mensch ein Mörder, welchen Dike, obschon er aus dem Meere gerettet ist, nicht leben läßt.

Y como los bárbaros vieron la víbora colgando de su mano, decían los unos á los otros: Ciertamente este hombre es homicida, á quien, escapado de la mar, la justicia no deja vivir.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”

Er nun schüttelte das Tier in das Feuer ab und erlitt nichts Schlimmes.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Sie aber erwarteten, daß er aufschwellen oder plötzlich tot hinfallen würde. Als sie aber lange warteten und sahen, daß ihm nichts Ungewöhnliches geschah, änderten sie ihre Meinung und sagten, er sei ein Gott.

Empero ellos estaban esperando cuándo se había de hinchar, ó caer muerto de repente; mas habiendo esperado mucho, y viendo que ningún mal le venía, mudados, decían que era un dios.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In der Umgebung jenes Ortes aber besaß der Erste der Insel, mit Namen Publius, Ländereien; der nahm uns auf und beherbergte uns drei Tage freundlich.

En aquellos lugares había heredades del principal de la isla, llamado Publio, el cual nos recibió y hospedó tres días humanamente.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and courteously entertained us for three days.

Es geschah aber, daß der Vater des Publius, von Fieber und Ruhr befallen, daniederlag. Zu dem ging Paulus hinein, und als er gebetet hatte, legte er ihm die Hände auf und heilte ihn.

Y aconteció que el padre de Publio estaba en cama, enfermo de fiebres y de disentería: al cual Pablo entró, y después de haber orado, le puso las manos encima, y le sanó:

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

Als dies aber geschehen war, kamen auch die übrigen auf der Insel, welche Krankheiten hatten, herzu und wurden geheilt;

Y esto hecho, también los otros que en la isla tenían enfermedades, llegaban, y eran sanados:

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.

diese ehrten uns auch mit vielen Ehren, und als wir abfuhren, luden sie uns auf, was uns nötig war.

Los cuales también nos honraron con muchos obsequios; y cuando partimos, nos cargaron de las cosas necesarias.

Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Nach drei Monaten aber fuhren wir ab in einem alexandrinischen Schiffe, das auf der Insel überwintert hatte, mit dem Zeichen der Dioskuren.

Así que, pasados tres meses, navegamos en una nave Alejandrina que había invernado en la isla, la cual tenía por enseña á Cástor y Pólux.

And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

wo wir Brüder fanden und gebeten wurden, sieben Tage bei ihnen zu bleiben; und so kamen wir nach Rom.

Donde habiendo hallado hermanos, nos rogaron que quedásemos con ellos siete días; y luego vinimos á Roma;

Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

Und von dort kamen die Brüder, als sie von uns gehört hatten, uns bis Appii-Forum und Tres-Tabernä entgegen; und als Paulus sie sah, dankte er Gott und faßte Mut.

De donde, oyendo de nosotros los hermanos, nos salieron á recibir hasta la plaza de Appio, y Las Tres Tabernas: á los cuales como Pablo vió, dió gracias á Dios, y tomó aliento.

And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

Als wir aber nach Rom kamen, überlieferte der Hauptmann die Gefangenen dem Oberbefehlshaber; aber dem Paulus wurde erlaubt, mit dem Kriegsknechte, der ihn bewachte, für sich zu bleiben.

Y como llegamos á Roma, el centurión entregó los presos al prefecto de los ejércitos, mas á Pablo fué permitido estar por sí, con un soldado que le guardase.

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

Es geschah aber nach drei Tagen, daß er die, welche die Ersten der Juden waren, zusammenberief. Als sie aber zusammengekommen waren, sprach er zu ihnen: Brüder! Ich, der ich nichts wider das Volk oder die väterlichen Gebräuche getan habe, bin gefangen aus Jerusalem in die Hände der Römer überliefert worden,

Y aconteció que tres días después, Pablo convocó á los principales de los Judíos; á los cuales, luego que estuvieron juntos, les dijo: Yo, varones hermanos, no habiendo hecho nada contra el pueblo, ni contra los ritos de la patria, he sido entregado preso desde Jerusalem en manos de los Romanos;

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

After three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

welche, nachdem sie mich verhört hatten, mich loslassen wollten, weil keine Ursache des Todes an mir war.

Los cuales, habiéndome examinado, me querían soltar, por no haber en mí ninguna causa de muerte.

Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

Als aber die Juden widersprachen, war ich gezwungen, mich auf den Kaiser zu berufen, nicht als hätte ich wider meine Nation etwas zu klagen.

Um dieser Ursache willen nun habe ich euch herbeigerufen, euch zu sehen und zu euch zu reden; denn wegen der Hoffnung Israels bin ich mit dieser Kette umgeben.

Así que, por esta causa, os he llamado para veros y hablaros; porque por la esperanza de Israel estoy rodeado de esta cadena.

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben über dich weder Briefe von Judäa empfangen, noch ist jemand von den Brüdern hergekommen und hat uns über dich etwas Böses berichtet oder gesagt.

Entonces ellos le dijeron: Nosotros ni hemos recibido cartas tocante á ti de Judea, ni ha venido alguno de los hermanos que haya denunciado ó hablado algún mal de ti.

And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

Aber wir begehren von dir zu hören, welche Gesinnung du hast; denn von dieser Sekte ist uns bekannt, daß ihr allenthalben widersprochen wird.

Mas querríamos oir de ti lo que sientes; porque de esta secta notorio nos es que en todos lugares es contradicha.

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

Als sie ihm aber einen Tag bestimmt hatten, kamen mehrere zu ihm in die Herberge, welchen er die Wahrheit auslegte, indem er das Reich Gottes bezeugte und sie zu überzeugen suchte von Jesu, sowohl aus dem Gesetz Moses' als auch den Propheten, von frühmorgens bis zum Abend.

Y habiéndole señalado un día, vinieron á él muchos á la posada, á los cuales declaraba y testificaba el reino de Dios, persuadiéndoles lo concerniente á Jesús, por la ley de Moisés y por los profetas, desde la mañana hasta la tarde.

And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Und etliche wurden überzeugt von dem, was gesagt wurde, andere aber glaubten nicht.

Y algunos asentían á lo que se decía, mas algunos no creían.

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Als sie aber unter sich uneins waren, gingen sie weg, als Paulus ein Wort sprach: Trefflich hat der Heilige Geist durch Jesaias, den Propheten, zu unseren Vätern geredet und gesagt:

Y como fueron entre sí discordes, se fueron, diciendo Pablo esta palabra: Bien ha hablado el Espíritu Santo por el profeta Isaías á nuestros padres,

And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one message: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,

"Gehe hin zu diesem Volke und sprich: Hörend werdet ihr hören und nicht verstehen, und sehend werdet ihr sehen und nicht wahrnehmen.

Diciendo: Ve á este pueblo, y diles: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis:

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

saying, ‘Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.

Denn das Herz dieses Volkes ist dick geworden, und mit den Ohren haben sie schwer gehört, und ihre Augen haben sie geschlossen, damit sie nicht etwa mit den Augen sehen und mit den Ohren hören und mit dem Herzen verstehen und sich bekehren und ich sie heile."

Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y de los oídos oyeron pesadamente, y sus ojos taparon; porque no vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oídos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.’

So sei euch nun kund, daß dieses Heil Gottes den Nationen gesandt ist; sie werden auch hören.

Séaos pues notorio que á los Gentiles es enviada esta salud de Dios: y ellos oirán.

Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

“Be it known therefore to you that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen.”

Und als er dies gesagt hatte, gingen die Juden weg und hatten viel Wortwechsel unter sich.

Y habiendo dicho esto, los Judíos salieron, teniendo entre sí gran contienda.

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

Er aber blieb zwei ganze Jahre in seinem eigenen gemieteten Hause und nahm alle auf, die zu ihm kamen,

Pablo empero, quedó dos años enteros en su casa de alquiler, y recibía á todos los que á él venían,

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house and received all who were coming to him,

indem er das Reich Gottes predigte und die Dinge, welche den Herrn Jesus Christus betreffen, mit aller Freimütigkeit ungehindert lehrte.

Predicando el reino de Dios y enseñando lo que es del Señor Jesucristo con toda libertad, sin impedimento.

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

preaching God’s Kingdom and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.
