Mas quando Paulo apanhava alguns gravetos para colocá-los no fogo, uma víbora saiu por causa do calor e prendeu-se à sua mão.

Quando os nativos viram o animal preso na sua mão, disseram uns aos outros: "Este homem certamente é um assassino que escapou do mar, e a Justiça não lhe permitiu viver".
Y como los bárbaros vieron la víbora colgando de su mano, decían los unos á los otros: Ciertamente este hombre es homicida, á quien, escapado de la mar, la justicia no deja vivir.
And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.
When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”
Então ele sacudiu o animal no fogo e não sofreu nenhum mal.

Eles estavam esperando que ele viesse a inchar com a febre ou cair morto no chão. Mas, depois de o observarem por algum tempo e, vendo que não tinha nada usual, eles mudaram de ideia e passaram a dizer que ele era um deus.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

Em um lugar próximo dali, havia terras que pertenciam ao homem principal da ilha, cujo nome era Públio. Ele nos recebeu gentilmente e nos hospedou por três dias.
En aquellos lugares había heredades del principal de la isla, llamado Publio, el cual nos recibió y hospedó tres días humanamente.
In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and courteously entertained us for three days.
E aconteceu que o pai de Públio tinha sido acometido de febre e disenteria. Quando Paulo foi até ele, orou com imposição de mãos e o curou.
Y aconteció que el padre de Publio estaba en cama, enfermo de fiebres y de disentería: al cual Pablo entró, y después de haber orado, le puso las manos encima, y le sanó:
And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.
Depois que isso aconteceu, as demais pessoas da ilha que estavam doentes vinham também e eram curadas.
Y esto hecho, también los otros que en la isla tenían enfermedades, llegaban, y eran sanados:
So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.
As pessoas também nos distinguiram com muitas honras. Quando estávamos nos preparando para navegar, eles nos supriram com o que precisávamos.
Los cuales también nos honraron con muchos obsequios; y cuando partimos, nos cargaron de las cosas necesarias.
Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Depois de três meses, embarcamos em um navio de Alexandria que havia invernado na ilha, cuja insígnia trazia os deuses gêmeos, Castor e Pólux.

Lá, encontramos alguns irmãos e fomos convidados a estar com eles por sete dias. Assim, chegamos até Roma.
Donde habiendo hallado hermanos, nos rogaron que quedásemos con ellos siete días; y luego vinimos á Roma;
Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

De lá, os irmãos, depois de ouvirem sobre nós, vieram nos encontrar no mercado de Ápio e nas Três Vendas. Quando Paulo viu os irmãos, agradeceu a Deus, e foi encorajado.
De donde, oyendo de nosotros los hermanos, nos salieron á recibir hasta la plaza de Appio, y Las Tres Tabernas: á los cuales como Pablo vió, dió gracias á Dios, y tomó aliento.
And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

Quando entramos em Roma, Paulo recebeu autorização para morar sozinho, acompanhado por um soldado que o guardava.
Y como llegamos á Roma, el centurión entregó los presos al prefecto de los ejércitos, mas á Pablo fué permitido estar por sí, con un soldado que le guardase.
And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

Então, passados três dias, chamou para si alguns homens que eram líderes entre os judeus. Quando eles vieram, disse-lhes: "Irmãos, embora eu nada tenha feito de errado contra o povo ou os costumes de nossos antepassados, fui enviado como prisioneiro de Jerusalém até as mãos dos romanos.

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

Depois de terem me interrogado, quiseram me soltar, porque não havia em mim razão para pena de morte.

Por isso, convidei-vos para vos ver e conversar, pois é por causa da esperança de Israel que estou preso a estas correntes".

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Então, eles lhe disseram: "Nem recebemos cartas da Judeia a teu respeito; nem veio aqui irmão algum que relatasse ou dissesse algum mal de ti.
Entonces ellos le dijeron: Nosotros ni hemos recibido cartas tocante á ti de Judea, ni ha venido alguno de los hermanos que haya denunciado ó hablado algún mal de ti.
And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.
Mas nós queremos ouvir de ti o que pensas sobre essa seita, porque sabemos que se tem falado contra ela por toda parte".
Mas querríamos oir de ti lo que sientes; porque de esta secta notorio nos es que en todos lugares es contradicha.
But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.
But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”
Como eles haviam marcado um dia para estar com Paulo, mais pessoas foram vê-lo em sua casa. Ele lhes apresentou a questão e testificou sobre o Reino de Deus. E tentou persuadi-los a respeito de Jesus, tanto pela lei de Moisés, como pelos profetas, desde a manhã até o anoitecer.
Y habiéndole señalado un día, vinieron á él muchos á la posada, á los cuales declaraba y testificaba el reino de Dios, persuadiéndoles lo concerniente á Jesús, por la ley de Moisés y por los profetas, desde la mañana hasta la tarde.
And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Como não concordaram entre si, eles se retiraram depois que Paulo falou estas palavras: "O Espírito Santo falou bem, por intermédio do profeta Isaías para seus antepassados
Y como fueron entre sí discordes, se fueron, diciendo Pablo esta palabra: Bien ha hablado el Espíritu Santo por el profeta Isaías á nuestros padres,
And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one message: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,
quando disse: 'Vai a este povo e dize: Ouvindo, ouvireis, e de maneira nenhuma entendereis; e vendo, vereis, e de maneira nenhuma percebereis.
Diciendo: Ve á este pueblo, y diles: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis:
Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
saying, ‘Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.
Porque o coração deste povo se endureceu, e com os ouvidos ouviram sem dar atenção e fecharam os olhos; de outra forma, eles poderiam ver com olhos, ouvir com os ouvidos, entender com o coração e se converter, e Eu os curaria'.
Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y de los oídos oyeron pesadamente, y sus ojos taparon; porque no vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oídos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.
For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.’
Portanto, vós devíeis saber que essa salvação de Deus tem sido enviada aos gentios, e eles ouvirão".
Séaos pues notorio que á los Gentiles es enviada esta salud de Dios: y ellos oirán.
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
“Be it known therefore to you that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen.”

Y habiendo dicho esto, los Judíos salieron, teniendo entre sí gran contienda.
And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

Paulo viveu por dois anos inteiros na casa que havia alugado, e ele recebia todos os que vinham a ele.
Pablo empero, quedó dos años enteros en su casa de alquiler, y recibía á todos los que á él venían,
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

Ele pregava o Reino de Deus e ensinava a respeito do Senhor Jesus Cristo com toda a ousadia, sem impedimento algum.
