Als wir uns nun gerettet hatten, erfuhren wir, daß die Insel Melite hieß.

Y CUANDO escapamos, entonces supimos que la isla se llamaba Melita.

And when they were escaped, then they knew that the island was called Melita.

When we had escaped, then they learned that the island was called Malta.

Die Inselbewohner erzeigten uns ungewöhnliche Leutseligkeit, zündeten ein Feuer an und nahmen uns alle wegen des eingetretenen Regens und der Kälte bei sich auf.

Y los bárbaros nos mostraron no poca humanidad; porque, encendido un fuego, nos recibieron á todos, á causa de la lluvia que venía, y del frío.

And the barbarous people shewed us no little kindness: for they kindled a fire, and received us every one, because of the present rain, and because of the cold.

Da aber Paulus einen Haufen Reiser zusammenraffte und sie auf das Feuer legte, kam eine Otter wegen der Hitze daraus hervor und hängte sich ihm an die Hand.

Entonces habiendo Pablo recogido algunos sarmientos, y puéstolos en el fuego, una víbora, huyendo del calor, le acometió á la mano.

Als die Inselbewohner das Tier an seiner Hand hängen sahen, sagten sie zueinander: Dieser Mensch ist ganz gewiß ein Mörder, den die Rachegöttin nicht am Leben ließ, ob er gleich aus dem Meere sich gerettet hatte.

Y como los bárbaros vieron la víbora colgando de su mano, decían los unos á los otros: Ciertamente este hombre es homicida, á quien, escapado de la mar, la justicia no deja vivir.

And when the barbarians saw the venomous beast hang on his hand, they said among themselves, No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he hath escaped the sea, yet vengeance suffereth not to live.

When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped from the sea, yet Justice has not allowed to live.”

Er schleuderte nun das Tier in das Feuer und erlitt keinen Schaden.

Mas él, sacudiendo la víbora en el fuego, ningún mal padeció.

And he shook off the beast into the fire, and felt no harm.

Sie erwarteten aber, daß er aufschwellen oder sogleich tot niederfallen würde. Da sie aber lange warteten und sahen, daß es ihm keinen Schaden tat, wurden sie anderen Glaubens und sagten, er wäre ein Gott.

Empero ellos estaban esperando cuándo se había de hinchar, ó caer muerto de repente; mas habiendo esperado mucho, y viendo que ningún mal le venía, mudados, decían que era un dios.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

In der Nähe des Ortes hatte der vornehmste Mann auf der Insel, mit Namen Publius, Ländereien, nahm uns auf und bewirtete uns freundlich drei Tage lang.

En aquellos lugares había heredades del principal de la isla, llamado Publio, el cual nos recibió y hospedó tres días humanamente.

In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.

Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, named Publius, who received us and courteously entertained us for three days.

Es traf sich, daß der Vater des Publius Fieberanfälle hatte und an der Ruhr darniederlag. Paulus ging zu ihm hinein, betete, legte ihm die Hände auf und heilte ihn.

Y aconteció que el padre de Publio estaba en cama, enfermo de fiebres y de disentería: al cual Pablo entró, y después de haber orado, le puso las manos encima, y le sanó:

And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.

The father of Publius lay sick of fever and dysentery. Paul entered in to him, prayed, and laying his hands on him, healed him.

Da dies geschehen war, kamen auch die anderen Kranken der Insel zu ihm und ließen sich heilen.

Y esto hecho, también los otros que en la isla tenían enfermedades, llegaban, y eran sanados:

So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:

Then when this was done, the rest also who had diseases in the island came and were cured.

Und sie erwiesen uns viele Ehre und brachten uns, da wir abfuhren was wir bedurften.

Los cuales también nos honraron con muchos obsequios; y cuando partimos, nos cargaron de las cosas necesarias.

Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.

Nach drei Monaten gingen wir in einem Schiff von Alexandrien, das auf der Insel überwinterte und das Abzeichen der Zwillinge führte, auf die See.

Así que, pasados tres meses, navegamos en una nave Alejandrina que había invernado en la isla, la cual tenía por enseña á Cástor y Pólux.

And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.

Als wir in Syrakus landeten, blieben wir allda drei Tage,

Schifften von da herum und liefen in Rhegium ein, und da nach einem Tage sich ein Südwind erhob, kamen wir am anderen Tag nach Puteoli.

De allí, costeando alrededor, vinimos á Regio; y otro día después, soplando el austro, vinimos al segundo día á Puteolos:

And from thence we fetched a compass, and came to Rhegium: and after one day the south wind blew, and we came the next day to Puteoli:

From there we circled around and arrived at Rhegium. After one day, a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli,

Fanden allda Brüder und wurden gebeten, sieben Tage bei ihnen zu bleiben, und so gingen wir dann nach Rom ab.

Donde habiendo hallado hermanos, nos rogaron que quedásemos con ellos siete días; y luego vinimos á Roma;

Where we found brethren, and were desired to tarry with them seven days: and so we went toward Rome.

where we found brothers, and were entreated to stay with them for seven days. So we came to Rome.

Und von dort kamen die Brüder, da sie von uns hörten, uns bis gen Appifer und Tretabern entgegen. Da Paulus sie sah, dankte er Gott und gewann Zuversicht.

De donde, oyendo de nosotros los hermanos, nos salieron á recibir hasta la plaza de Appio, y Las Tres Tabernas: á los cuales como Pablo vió, dió gracias á Dios, y tomó aliento.

And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Appii forum, and The three taverns: whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage.

From there the brothers, when they heard of us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage.

Als wir in Rom ankamen, überantwortete der Hauptmann die Gefangenen dem Obersten der Leibwache; dem Paulus aber ward erlaubt, für sich zu bleiben mit dem Kriegsknechte, der ihn bewachte.

Y como llegamos á Roma, el centurión entregó los presos al prefecto de los ejércitos, mas á Pablo fué permitido estar por sí, con un soldado que le guardase.

And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him.

Drei Tage darauf lud er die angesehensten Juden zu sich ein; und da sie zusammenkamen, sprach er zu ihnen: Ihr Männer und Brüder! Ich habe nichts gegen das Volk, noch wider die väterlichen Gesetze getan, darob ich von Jerusalem aus als Gefangener in die Hände der Römer überantwortet wurde.

Y aconteció que tres días después, Pablo convocó á los principales de los Judíos; á los cuales, luego que estuvieron juntos, les dijo: Yo, varones hermanos, no habiendo hecho nada contra el pueblo, ni contra los ritos de la patria, he sido entregado preso desde Jerusalem en manos de los Romanos;

And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.

After three days Paul called together those who were the leaders of the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “I, brothers, though I had done nothing against the people or the customs of our fathers, still was delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans,

Als diese mich verhört hatten, wollten sie mich freigeben, weil keine Schuld des Todes an mir erfunden wurde.

Los cuales, habiéndome examinado, me querían soltar, por no haber en mí ninguna causa de muerte.

Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.

Da die Juden aber dawider sprachen, sah ich mich genötigt, an den Kaiser zu appellieren, nicht, als ob ich Klage gegen mein Volk führen wollte.

Aus diesem Grunde habe ich mir erbeten, euch zu sehen und zu euch zu sprechen; denn um der Hoffnung Israels willen trage ich diese Kette.

Así que, por esta causa, os he llamado para veros y hablaros; porque por la esperanza de Israel estoy rodeado de esta cadena.

For this cause therefore have I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

Sie aber sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben weder ein Schreiben über dich aus Judäa erhalten, noch ist ein Bruder gekommen, der Böses über dich verkündigt oder geredet hätte.

Entonces ellos le dijeron: Nosotros ni hemos recibido cartas tocante á ti de Judea, ni ha venido alguno de los hermanos que haya denunciado ó hablado algún mal de ti.

And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judæa concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.

They said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor did any of the brothers come here and report or speak any evil of you.

Wir wollen aber von dir hören, auf was du hältst; denn wir haben von dieser Sekte gehört, daß sie überall Widerspruch findet.

Mas querríamos oir de ti lo que sientes; porque de esta secta notorio nos es que en todos lugares es contradicha.

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

But we desire to hear from you what you think. For, as concerning this sect, it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

Sie bestimmten ihm einen Tag, und es kamen noch mehrere zu ihm in die Herberge, denen er das Reich Gottes nachdrücklich bezeugte und auslegte, und er suchte sie zu überzeugen von Jesus aus dem Gesetz Moses und aus den Propheten, vom frühen Morgen bis an den Abend.

Y habiéndole señalado un día, vinieron á él muchos á la posada, á los cuales declaraba y testificaba el reino de Dios, persuadiéndoles lo concerniente á Jesús, por la ley de Moisés y por los profetas, desde la mañana hasta la tarde.

And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening.

Die einen glaubten dem, was er sagte, die anderen aber glaubten nicht.

And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

Sie wurden untereinander uneins, und gingen weg, nachdem Paulus noch die eine Rede getan: Wohl hat der Heilige Geist durch den Propheten Jesajah zu unseren Vätern geredet,

Y como fueron entre sí discordes, se fueron, diciendo Pablo esta palabra: Bien ha hablado el Espíritu Santo por el profeta Isaías á nuestros padres,

And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,

When they didn’t agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one message: “The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah the prophet to our fathers,

Und gesagt: Gehe hin zu diesem Volke und sprich: Ihr werdet hören, aber nicht verstehen, werdet sehen, aber nicht einsehen;

Diciendo: Ve á este pueblo, y diles: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis:

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:

saying, ‘Go to this people and say, in hearing, you will hear, but will in no way understand. In seeing, you will see, but will in no way perceive.

Denn das Herz dieses Volkes ist verstockt, und schwer hören sie mit den Ohren, und drücken ihre Augen zu, daß sie nicht sehen mit ihren Augen und hören mit den Ohren und verstehen mit dem Herzen und umkehren, und Ich sie heile.

Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, y de los oídos oyeron pesadamente, y sus ojos taparon; porque no vean con los ojos, y oigan con los oídos, y entiendan de corazón, y se conviertan, y yo los sane.

For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

For this people’s heart has grown callous. Their ears are dull of hearing. Their eyes they have closed. Lest they should see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their heart, and would turn again, then I would heal them.’

So sei euch nun kundgetan, daß zu den Heiden das Heil Gottes gesandt worden ist, und sie werden darauf hören.

Séaos pues notorio que á los Gentiles es enviada esta salud de Dios: y ellos oirán.

Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

“Be it known therefore to you that the salvation of God is sent to the nations, and they will listen.”

Da er solches geredet hatte, gingen die Juden fort und hatten viel Streitens unter sich.

Y habiendo dicho esto, los Judíos salieron, teniendo entre sí gran contienda.

And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

Er blieb zwei ganze Jahre in seinem eigenen Geding und nahm alle auf, die zu ihm einkamen;

Pablo empero, quedó dos años enteros en su casa de alquiler, y recibía á todos los que á él venían,

And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

Paul stayed two whole years in his own rented house and received all who were coming to him,

Predigte das Reich Gottes und lehrte von Jesus Christus mit aller Freimütigkeit ungehindert.

Predicando el reino de Dios y enseñando lo que es del Señor Jesucristo con toda libertad, sin impedimento.

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

preaching God’s Kingdom and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, without hindrance.
